Replacing Realtek 8852AE with Intel AX210 in a Hackintosh Setup
Image
SOLUTION: Guide to Upgrading Wi-Fi Card to Intel AX210 in a Ryzen-Based Hackintosh Target Audience : Users with intermediate knowledge of Hackintosh systems and laptop hardware modifications. Check Form Factor Compatibility : Verify the form factor of your current Realtek 8852AE card (likely M.2 or mini-PCIe) and ensure the Intel AX210 card matches this form factor for physical compatibility. macOS Driver Support : Intel Wi-Fi cards, including the AX210, typically lack native macOS support. Research current solutions for enabling Intel Wi-Fi in macOS, which might involve third-party kexts or software. Evaluate BIOS Whitelisting : Some laptops have a BIOS whitelist that restricts the use of certain Wi-Fi cards. Confirm that your laptop does not have such restrictions or that the Intel AX210 is not blocked. Hardware Installation : If compatible, power off the laptop, disconnect it from power sources, and carefully replace the Realtek card with the Intel AX210. Remember to attach the ante...
Why can't Windows 11 going through so many changes and upgrades have something like Core Audio on mac??
Image
Windows and macOS, both having evolved for several decades, have developed their own unique approaches to system architecture, especially when it comes to audio. Apple's Core Audio, in particular, is a set of powerful and low-latency APIs that have been a fundamental part of macOS since its inception. Here's a breakdown of why Windows doesn't have an exact replica of Core Audio: 1. **Different Architectural Foundations**: Windows and macOS have distinct architectural underpinnings. Core Audio was built from the ground up to be a fundamental part of macOS. Windows, on the other hand, has had various audio APIs over the years, such as DirectSound, WASAPI, and ASIO (for professional applications). 2. **Integration vs. Flexibility**: Apple designs both the hardware and software of its products, which means macOS can be more deeply integrated with its hardware, including for audio processing. Windows has to cater to a vast array of hardware configurations, which often necessitat...
Can't get AppleALC working on Big Sur. VoodooHDA works, but apps randomly crash
Image
First of all my specs: Motherboard: MSI A78M-E35 (Realtek ALC887) RAM: 16GB Corsair Vengeance LP (1600Mhz DDR3) CPU: AMD A10-5800K (overclocked @ 4,20Ghz) GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GT 640 SMBIOS: MacPro7,1 (Already fixed iServices) EFI: Link to Google Drive Monitors: 2x Dell P2214H (One connected over VGA, the other over a HDMI->DVI cable) I successfully installed macOS 11.2.3 on my PC. I currently have two issues: First stage of the boot logo happens on my left screen, but when the OS loads it switches to the right No sound because AppleALC is not detecting (or patching) on-board audio. The first issue is something I honestly don't care too much about, but if anyone knows how to fix its let me know. The latter is the real issue as sound is pretty important. I've tried the following: Every single layout ID. First time I tried this I didn't realise it was prioritising GPU audio to be patched. VoodooHDA. This worked great, it detected both audio devices and al...
Want to build my own Mac for audio production
Image
I’m a newbie on Reddit and I’m looking to build my own Mac for audio production. Need a fast processor, at least 64 gigs of ram, 4 TB solid state drive with the option to expand with additional drives, hdmi port for ultra wide screen, usb-c, usb 3, thunderbolt 2, and at least one FireWire 800 port. Any recommendation on cost efficient parts that don’t skimp on performance? Would really appreciate any guidance and or recommendations. submitted by /u/Acrobatic-Piccolo906 [link] [comments] [► Source]
AMD Ryzen 5 1600x Hackintosh Audio issue
Image
Hello everyone! I made a hackintosh (Big Sur 11.2.3) on my computer with an AMD Ryzen 5 1600x processor. Everything works great except for the sound. The problem is that the sound on the USB headphones (sharkoon skiller sgh2) interrupts from time to time (it's such a temporary interruption for 0.5s), and on the microphone (also on USB, so it doesn't use the sound card on the motherboard) you can hear me every now and then like a robot. 2 minutes you can hear me normally and then 2 minutes you can't understand me. I still have speakers on Jack and there the sound does not break. I tried using the microphone from my phone but the same thing happened. Hackintosh Desktop for Audio Work
Image
Hey all! I need a hand. As the title says, I am thinking about building a hackintosh for running Pro Tools and some other audio software. PT will likely be the heaviest software running on it. Anyways, would this be a good idea to do? I currently have a 2020 MacBook Pro (custom ordered but not 100% top of the line) and it's running Catalina. I would prefer Catalina as I like a lot of how it runs but if another OS is better I'm more than willing to give it a shot. I've never built a PC before but I have replaced some hardware and am pretty confident in my ability to be cautious enough to not break anything. So, I have no idea where to start with hardware. I know Mac OS's are picky with hardware. Here's a handful of things I would like to have, if possible: Kickass sound card for obvious reasons 4k graphics. Maybe not high-end gaming 4k, but Pro Tools on the 3072 display of the MacBook is notably better compared to 1080p and makes life a lot easier. I would also ...
Razer Blade Advance 2020 Apple ALC Audio
Image
I have been using a Github repo to start the basis of my Hackintsoh on a 2020 razer blade advanced. Everything seems to be working fine with minor tweaks as opposed to Apple ALC audio. Original author used VoodooHDA and the sound is absolutely terrible. I have tried Apple ALC kext and multiple different ALC 298 layouts. I can get sound from the headphone jack, but nothing from the speakers. Any help would be greatly appreciated. submitted by /u/Newfiejudd [link] [comments] [► Source]
No HDMI audio on 1080ti High Sierra
Image
Yesterday i installed Catalina for my first go at hackintoshing just to see if i could do it. So today i swapped some files around and went for High Sierra because i have a 1080ti and wanted to get the most out of my current hardware for now. Its installed, graphics acceleration thru nvidias web driver is golden. Its driving my 86" 4k tv. Everything seems to be in order except for the sound. No HDMI audio output, and i figured it would work no problem from the web driver but no dice. Asus maximus hero x mobo Intel 8700k running stock for now Evga Hybrid 1080ti Intel 240gb SSD for Mac, 500gb m.2 for my win 10 Just the normal .kexts needed.... applealc... virtual smc, lilu, whatevergreen. Anyone have this issue? Ive read upon a few fixes , but theyre years old and none of what i read actually pertained to a 1080ti... was usually a 1060 used, and i havent actually seen of anyone having a genuine fix for it. Info, if any, would be helpful. Thanks for reading! submitted by /u...

Help For New Buyers Of GeForce Graphics Cards

Experienced builders already have a feel for this, so this is for people who are new to building gaming and other graphics intensive PCs. I am aware that cards sold for MSRP are unicorns. I'm posting this to give new builders, and maybe some experienced builders an idea of what a good deal they are getting or how badly they are being ripped off. Thinkpad T440s macOS Catalina success!
Image
From what I can tell everything such as cpu (Intel Core i5-4300U, power management works), gpu (Intel HD Graphics 4400 Metal supported), WiFI and bluetooth (Intel AC7260), audio (ALC292 , used voodooHDA and it works great), battery is a work in progress, brightness works but using a tool you can use your keyboard shortcut of choice mine is brightness up = ctrl + PgUp, and brightness down = ctrl PgDn. The app I used is in the App Store Brightness Slider. Trackpad (regular using voodooPS2 acidethera's version and modding info.plist for mode 0 (disable force touch) multitouch works, camera works, iservices works though Find My has issues playing sound, and fan works through BIOS. Big Sur is not a good OS for this system unless you are very talented. submitted by /u/XoneSogie720 [link] [comments] [► Source]
