Enabling Screen Sharing and Recording on macOS Monterey with NVIDIA GTX 1060 (Pascal)
Image
macOS does not natively support NVIDIA GTX 1060 (Pascal) GPUs for hardware acceleration on macOS Mojave and later, which can cause issues with screen sharing and screen recording on platforms like OBS and Discord. This guide will show you how to get screen sharing and recording functionality working with some workarounds. Step-by-Step Guide to Enable Screen Sharing and Recording 1. Install OpenCore Legacy Patcher (OCLP) for Root Patches Since NVIDIA Web Drivers aren’t available for macOS beyond High Sierra, you can use OpenCore Legacy Patcher to help with graphics patches. Download OCLP and follow its instructions to create a patched bootloader. 2. Apply Root Patch for Graphics Acceleration (If Available) Run OpenCore Legacy Patcher and check if any Root Patches are available. If OCLP offers any patches related to graphics or framebuffer fixes, apply these patches and restart the system. Root patches may help with some screen rendering and acceleration but will not provide full GPU...

Hackintosh Guide: Fixing Oversized Video Resolution on Lenovo Ivy Bridge with GT630M + Intel HD
Image
Guide Step by Step: Understanding the Issue : On your Lenovo with Ivy Bridge and GeForce GT630M + Intel HD Graphics, the video output is too large for the laptop's display but appears normal on an external TV. This suggests a resolution or scaling issue specific to the internal display. Check Your Display Settings : First, ensure that the display settings in macOS are set correctly for your laptop's screen. Go to System Preferences > Displays and check the resolution settings. It should match your laptop's native resolution. EFI Configuration Check : Since you've built an EFI that works well except for this issue, review your EFI configuration. Ensure that the correct screen resolution is set in your bootloader's configuration (like Clover or OpenCore). Graphics Configuration in config.plist : Since you're likely using the integrated GPU (Intel HD), check your config.plist for the correct settings under the Graphics section. Ensure that the ig-platform-id an...

How do I enable Nvidia GPU support?
Image
To enable Nvidia GPU support on a Hackintosh, you need to consider the following: GPU Compatibility : MacOS has limited support for Nvidia GPUs, especially in the newer versions. If you have an Nvidia GPU from the GTX 600 or 700 series (Kepler architecture), these are natively supported up to macOS Big Sur because they support Metal. For GTX 900 and 1000 series (Maxwell and Pascal architectures), they are supported only up to macOS High Sierra (10.13) because Apple dropped support for these architectures in later versions. OpenCore Legacy Patcher (OCLP) : This is a tool used to add support for older hardware in newer versions of macOS. It can enable support for older Nvidia GPUs that were supported in past macOS versions. However, as noted in the information you provided, while OCLP can make GTX 600-700 series work with the newest macOS, the GTX 900-1000 series will have limited functionality because they lack Metal support. For GTX 16 series and newer, they are not supported and canno...

Laptop with E-GPU Hackintosh
Image
The search through the available documentation did not yield specific results regarding the exact kexts required for eGPU support in Hackintosh setups. However, based on my existing knowledge, here's a general approach to getting an eGPU to work on a laptop Hackintosh: Thunderbolt Support : Ensure your laptop's Thunderbolt port is functional in macOS. This typically requires a combination of BIOS settings and possibly patches in your config.plist. Proper Bootloader Configuration : Use the latest version of your bootloader (Clover or OpenCore) and ensure it's properly configured for your system. Kexts : The kexts required depend on the specific eGPU enclosure and graphics card you're using. Commonly required kexts for GPU support include WhateverGreen.kext and Lilu.kext. NVRAM Variables : Some eGPU setups may require setting NVRAM variables to properly initialize the eGPU at boot. Hot-Plug Support : Hot-plugging an eGPU in macOS can be hit or miss. Some setups may only w...

Considering now there is a workaround for AMD APU under macOS, will there be a workaround for Nvidia Optimus Laptop in the future?
Image
We've seen a lot of workaround improvement especially in the GPU workaround lately in the Hackintosh community, starting from the supported Pascal GPU >High Sierra, and many other legacy GPU under OCLP. Now workaround for AMD APU by WhateverRed, something we might say "impossible" before unless either or both party (Intel,AMD,Nvidia and Apple) added support We know that WhateverRed now support patching AMD iGPU, from what i saw is it patches AMD dGPU kext to be able to drive the iGPU(APU). Some Optimus GPU are also supported on macOS natively (such as Kepler based GPU). But just because the Optimus configuration makes them won't work..Also most macBook Pro have dual graphics too on their laptop, it's just different with Nvidia's Optimus What do u guys think? will there be any possibilities of Getting Optimus supported? By patching macOS' dual graphics configuration maybe?(i'm not a pro) P.S. other currently unsupported GPU discussion such as RTX...

Good plan for dual boot hackingtosh mojave and Windows 10?
Image
Hi hackintoshers! I already own a mojave hackintosh, put togheter by my dad(fyi im 14). He put a lot of work in it and was extremely happy with it. I use it almost daily for gaming and watching youtube or netflix. I also like programming/coding a lot(which is one of the reasons for choosing hackintosh). But now i keep running into some games, or other software that want to install, but is only available for windows. So I go searching on the internet for ways to get windows runnig on my computer, dual booting with my hackintosh. Talked with my dad about it, at first he wasn't too happy to hear that i wanted "more", but that is not my point. We figured out a way on how we could do it and i want your opinion on if it is a good one. At first we would disconnect the drives with the hackintosh on it, for safety(that it surely won't get wiped) The we would get a hard disk from somewhere(probably 500gb or so). And install windows on it the regular way. That shouldn't b...

Monterey iGPU DP setup via nvidia output
Image
I am trying to configure Monterey to use iGPU but output signal via dGPU. Is this somehow possible ? What to google for ? My setup is asus z490-i and gtx1080 and the screen is a samsung g9. I have DP and HDMI connected to dGPU outputs. The mac boots now using hdmi (though the installation process was using DP). In the end I'd like to force DP and disable hdmi. and of course pass the signal via dGPU output. Worst case scenario is I will use second DP and connect it to mobo I enabled iGPU multi-monitor but then I could not boot anymore. submitted by /u/mightyahti [link] [comments] [► Source]

I now want to update to Monterey. This morning I updated my OC to 0.7.6 with updated packages and a new config.plist re-created using the guide. The config passed validation and was able to boot my existing Catalina installation and the Monterey installer which I'm trying to use to install Monterey to a second hard disk. The problem is that after the first reboot during installation, I get through to the black screen with the apple logo and progress bar. It goes through to the end and says "less than a minute remaining" but it never completes. I've left it an hour (it just stayed stuck there) and also tried restarting (it did the same thing), a...
