How to disable Secure Boot in Legacy BIOS
Image
Disabling Secure Boot in a Legacy BIOS (Basic Input/Output System) environment can be a bit different than in a UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) setup. Here are some general steps and considerations to keep in mind: Accessing BIOS Settings : To access the BIOS settings, you need to restart your computer and press a specific key during the boot-up process. This key varies depending on the manufacturer but is often one of the following: Del, F2, F10, F12, Esc. Legacy BIOS and Secure Boot : Secure Boot is a feature that is typically found in UEFI environments, not in traditional Legacy BIOS. If your system is using Legacy BIOS, it's unlikely to have a Secure Boot option. UEFI vs. Legacy BIOS : Modern systems use UEFI, which supports features like Secure Boot. Legacy BIOS is the older system and doesn't have these newer features. If you're using an older motherboard with Legacy BIOS, it's possible that Secure Boot isn't available. No Secure Boot Option : If ...

Laptop Specs: MODEL: MSI GF63 9SC CPU: CORE I5 9300H RAM: 16GB GPU: GTX 1650(DISABLED) STORAGE: CRUCIAL BX500 480GB I have MacOS catalina installed on a sata ssd and windows on an nvme ssd in my laptop. I have mounted the EFI partition of my boot drive and copied the efi folder to that partition from my usb intaller and unmounted it. When I restart back into the bios to set the boot order, it doesn't show my Hackintosh SSD as a boot option. Just the usb, network boot and windows boot drives are shown. 5700XT Freezing Issue
Image
I recently installed a 5700XT into my Hackintosh. It was working fine with my previous RX580, I hadn't tested it hard underload, but it never froze. However, when I upgraded to the 5700XT the computer is freezing more often as I use it for professional workflow. The system doesn't go black screen, it just freezes and the mouse freezes also. I have to shut down the computer and reboot to get it to work again. Should I just switch back to a RX580? I really prefer Catalina interface wise, so would rather not update to Big Sur. Does anyone know of any solutions to solve this? REQ: OC Troubleshooting Suggestions for Sandy Bridge/High Sierra Install
Image
I've come across this error before, on a different Sandy Bridge build that I tried to install High Sierra 10.13.6 on using OpenCore. I'm certain it's an OpenCore issue, because after having no success solving it on that box, I gave up, deleted the entire OpenCore EFI on my USB stick, installed Clover to the EFI instead, and the High Sierra/Sandy Bridge install went from start to finish without any drama -- or this error message: https://preview.redd.it/if9r022b63m61.jpg?width=660&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=49290ebfa4b364fb51beef5d9dcfe0445a0c6aac I imagine I can install High Sierra on this box using Clover once again, but I want to do an OpenCore Sandy Bridge build this time. CASE: Mini-Box m350 • MOBO: AsRock H67M-ITX • CPU: i3-2125 • OC version: 0.6.6 • Kexts: RealtekRTL8111-V2.2.2; AppleALC; VirtualSMC; Lilu; WhateverGreen; USBInjectAll (per Dortania Guide, which says it's needed because "AsRock is dumb"); XHCI-Unsupported; BIOS: v.2.10...

When you get to the step where you generate your SMBIOS data, you can actually have a generated rom too! Go ahead and get your product name, MBL, serial number, and anything else that the guide mentions. Now, after that, press enter in GenSMBIOS (go back to the beginning screen and press 5. There will be an option for ROM, just simply copy and paste the numbers into your config.plist and it will automatically space them out for you. now you have a rom as well! submitted by /u/XoneSogie720 [link] [comments] [► Source]
OpenCore not recognised as bootloader option
Image
After installing Catalina and starting it up for the first time, I moved the EFI folder from USB to the Catalina EFI partition. However, when restarting and entering BIOS to set the boot order, OpenCore is not offered as a choice. It was, though, when the USB stick was plugged in. Any idea what I am doing wrong? submitted by /u/rowild [link] [comments] [► Source]
Thinkpad T440s macOS Catalina success!
Image
From what I can tell everything such as cpu (Intel Core i5-4300U, power management works), gpu (Intel HD Graphics 4400 Metal supported), WiFI and bluetooth (Intel AC7260), audio (ALC292 , used voodooHDA and it works great), battery is a work in progress, brightness works but using a tool you can use your keyboard shortcut of choice mine is brightness up = ctrl + PgUp, and brightness down = ctrl PgDn. The app I used is in the App Store Brightness Slider. Trackpad (regular using voodooPS2 acidethera's version and modding info.plist for mode 0 (disable force touch) multitouch works, camera works, iservices works though Find My has issues playing sound, and fan works through BIOS. Big Sur is not a good OS for this system unless you are very talented. submitted by /u/XoneSogie720 [link] [comments] [► Source]

Lenovo ThinkPad L13 Yoga 10th Gen i5 - OC-0.6.7
Image
Hi everyone, I'm excited to post this success. I had tried to install Big Sur before on this laptop but failed. Apparently an issue with booting was resolved in the latest OpenCore 0.6.7. I followed the Dortania guide and managed to get most things working. I borrowed a SSDT file from hagenest's repo to get the battery working. The most interesting part of this build was the USB mapping. I needed to add in the SSDT-RHUB.aml file from the guide before the internal USB ports would show up (cameras, touch screen, bluetooth). It took a while to figure that out. Other then that is was a straightforward following of the guide. g ithub repository Hardware: CPU: Intel Core i5-10210U GPU: Intel UHD RAM: 8GB / 2666MHz DDR4 Motherboard/Laptop Make and Model: Lenovo ThinkPad L13 Yoga Audio Codec: CX8070 Ethernet Card: Intel ethernet Wifi/BT Card: Intel Wireless-AC 9560 Touchpad and touch display devices: BIOS revision: 1.25 Working: Keyboard, trackpad, trackpoint, sound, m...

Hey peeps, I'm totally stuck and slowly losing my mind. I had a working system for 2 months and for a week I've been getting stuck at the loading screen unless I boot safe mode. I made no changes to OS or EFI and I'm still not sure what triggered it. How to use "mod GRUB Shell"?
Image
It seems I have to hack my BIOS, but I get stuck reading the docu: https://dortania.github.io/OpenCore-Post-Install/misc/msr-lock.html#turning-off-cfg-lock-manually I have a Gigabyte motherboard ( https://www.gigabyte.com/at/Motherboard/GA-Z170X-UD5-TH-rev-10#ov ). The docu says that the UEFI tool will not work on Firmware other then MSI, ASrock and ASUS. However, I could extract the setup part and convert it to text, I even found that very passage with Unicode text "CFG Lock". However, then it says: "1. Run the Modified GRUB Shell and write the following command ..." Where and how do I have to run that efi script? Thank you, guys! submitted by /u/rowild [link] [comments] [► Source]
First time Hackintosher. Spent 2 weeks. I'm very proud now.
Image
I got some free time and decided to repurpose my old desktop as a Hackintosh. So far so good. Here are my specs: First gen. i5 750 Nehalem/Lynnfield CPU Intel DP55WB mobo with P55 chipset Sapphire Radeon R7 250 DDR3 2GB(oland, PCIID: 6610) 16 gigs of RAM 1333mhz (4x4 DIMM) For now, everything (except Fairplay 4 decoding) works nice and smooth on Catalina. It almost took me 2 weeks learning and trying to get everything up and working. To be frank, It was a good journey, I learned a lot of new things. I never used OSX before but a long time Linux user (almost 18 years now, I started using Linux in 2003 and never looked back) and have a reasonable amount of software knowledge, it certainly helped. But I believe anyone can build it with enough research. OpenCore guide is just perfect. So, here is what I did and how, for reference. First problem was booting. My board is from 2009 but surprisingly supports UEFI. Linux (and Windows) boots in UEFI mode just fine. But OSX refused it. ...
Boot's problem with my Hackintosh

Hi everyone, my build is: AsRock h97m, i5 4590 and MSI GTX 970.After having done all the steps for the High Sierra bootable key (on windows 10) and having set the BIOS, when I boot MacOs I am presented with the error "Filed to find sb model disable" but checking the config.plist are sure that the error is not that as the Disabled value has been entered. However, I attach the photo of the error. I hope I can fix this damn problem.
