Resolving FileVault Blocks in macOS Installer
If you see a message saying 'Installation is not possible because the volume is being encrypted' when trying to install Sequoia, FileVault is currently active and processing your disk.
The Fix:
- Check Status: Boot back into your current OS and go to System Settings > Privacy & Security > FileVault. If it says 'Encrypting...' or 'Decrypting...', you must wait for it to finish. This can take several hours.
- Disable FileVault: For the smoothest OCLP experience, it is recommended to turn FileVault OFF before performing a major OS upgrade.
- Wipe the Drive: If you don't need the data on that drive, boot from the OCLP USB, open Disk Utility, and 'Erase' the entire disk. This will remove the encryption and allow the installer to proceed.
