Resolving Black Screen After "End RandomSeed" on HP EliteBook 8540w with OpenCore 1.0.2
Image
The black screen after "End RandomSeed" typically points to misconfigured GPU settings, framebuffer issues, or missing ACPI patches in your OpenCore configuration. Let’s break this down systematically and get your HP EliteBook 8540w moving past this error while installing macOS High Sierra. Step-by-Step Troubleshooting 1. Verify OpenCore Version OpenCore 1.0.2 is quite old; consider updating to at least OpenCore 0.9.x , which has better debug capabilities and more stable support for older hardware like yours. Updating OpenCore involves replacing the bootloader files in the EFI partition and updating your config.plist to match the newer schema. 2. Fix GPU (nVidia FX 1800M) Issues The nVidia FX 1800M (Fermi architecture) requires Web Drivers to function on macOS High Sierra. However, during the installer phase, macOS will attempt to use a basic framebuffer, which can cause the black screen issue. Steps to fix GPU issues : Inject nVidia Framebuffer : In your config.plist , u...

Step-by-Step Guide for Configuring OpenCore and config.plist
Image
I understand that you're stuck with the config.plist part, which is critical when setting up a Hackintosh on your Panasonic CF-SZ5 with an Intel i5-6300U. I'll break it down step-by-step and guide you through configuring OpenCore (which is the best option for Hackintoshing modern laptops). Overview: What is `config.plist`? The `config.plist` is essentially a configuration file that OpenCore or Clover bootloader uses to understand the hardware setup and what patches or kexts (kernel extensions) are needed to boot macOS on non-supported hardware. It's like a roadmap that helps macOS understand how to talk to your laptop's hardware. Now, let’s take it step-by-step, specifically for your Panasonic CF-SZ5 (i5-6300U, 4GB DDR3 RAM, 128GB SSD). Step-by-Step Guide for Configuring OpenCore and `config.plist`: 1. Download OpenCore and ProperTree:    - OpenCore: Download the latest version of OpenCore from its [GitHub](https://github.com/acidanthera/OpenCorePkg/releases).    - P...
OpenCore Legacy Patcher AKA OCLP
Image
The OpenCore Legacy Patcher (OCLP) tool is specifically designed to facilitate the installation and running of newer macOS versions on older, unsupported Apple hardware. It is important to note that OCLP is intended for genuine Apple products and is not developed for Hackintosh use. Using it on non-Apple hardware could lead to unpredictable results and is not recommended by the tool's developers or the Hackintosh community. For those who are looking to use macOS on unsupported Apple hardware, OCLP can be an invaluable resource. It can enable features and system updates that would otherwise be unavailable on older machines. However, its use should be confined to its intended purpose. If you have an actual unsupported Mac and are looking to use OCLP to upgrade to a newer version of macOS, you should follow the guidelines provided by the developers: Backup : Always backup your data before attempting to use OCLP or any system modifications. Check Compatibility : Review the compatibil...
Did anyone manage to hackintosh the Thinkpad X1C4 ?

ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 4 running macOS (OpenCore bootloader) GUIDE DISCLAIMER: This repo is based on simprecicchiani's T460s repo , but with some modification it's now fully working on X1C4s. Read the entire README before you start. I am not responsible for any damages you may cause. Should you find an error or improve anything — whether in the config or in the documentation — please consider opening an issue or pull request. If you find my work useful, please consider donating via PayPal. It would mean a lot to me. I've tried many configs on github, but none actually worked (with Opencore). If you actually sucessed it, it'd be so great to share your USB Installer files ! Thanks to  /u/1eandre
Probably the most compatible Hackintosh

After years of on/off fiddling with macos on my PC, I found OpenCore. What a breath of fresh air compared to the heap of manure that is Clover, let alone the *beast tools. Followed the dortania guide for Skylake and it worked from the first try. Here's what I'm running: CPU: Intel i5-6500 GPU: AMD Radeon R9 380 (from Sapphire) RAM: 2 sticks of 8 GB RAM (16 total) Motherboard/Laptop Make and Model: MSI B150A Gaming Pro Audio Codec: ALC1150 Ethernet Card: Intel I219V2 Wifi/BT Card: none Touchpad and touch display devices: none BIOS revision: latest Kexts: AppleALC, IntelMausi (which probably isn't even needed), Lilu, SMCProcessor, SMCSuperIO, VirtualSMC and WhateverGreen (latest versions as of april 19th, 2021). Drivers: HfsPlus, OpenRuntime So nothing out of the ordinary, but that's most likely because my PC is very similar to a late 2015 iMac. Started out with Catalina. Upgrade to Big Sur via the app store went without issues. GeekBench scores are in l...
Enable 4G decoding prevents from booting Ryzentoshs
Image
I have a working hackingtosh that hasn't given me any problems untill now. I use Mac during the day for work and windows in the evening for gaming. Recently nvidia released their resizable bar solution and I updated my BIOS and VBIOS to be able to start using it (I already saw an uplift in performance in the games I play and with my resolution so I was quite happy with it) The problem is that "above 4g decoding" needs to be enabled for it to work and this prevents my opencore MacOS to boot. It just gets stuck at the very beginning. The weird thing is that the guides for my setup (AMD Ryzen 17h) all say that I need to have this activated in the first place. I had it deactivated before with the boot arg npci=0x2000 and they say that I shouldn't use both at the same time so naturally I removed that boot arg when enabling above 4g decoding. So my question is why can't Mac boot with this setting enabled even if the guides say that this is mandatory for my setup? Is...

Touchpad won't work in Catalina or Big Sur installer (Opencore 0.6.8)

The cursor just sits in the upper left corner and I can't move it at all. The keyboard works fine, as I'm able to use the arrow/tab keys to navigate some of the menu. The touchpad is an ELAN/I2CHID device, and I have VoodooI2C.kext and VoodooI2CHID.kext in the kext folder. submitted by /u/Arcadeium [link] [comments] [► Source]

Hi, I followed every guide around but I couldn't get it to work with OpenCore. I'm using an iGPU and the current build (that I did a couple of years ago using clover) on high sierra works perfectly. Does anyone have a working EFI that could help me boot the USB stick for the installation and later to boot the disk? Thanks in advance. Author: robertovisentin [► Source]
