Stuck at Apple logo after new Sequoia update

My 2017 mac (left) and my friends 2013 mac (right) were updated to Sequoias new version. Mine worked a week ago but when its battery was drained it won't go past the apple logo. As for my friends 2013 mac she updated and didn't go past the apple logo as well.

I tried resetting nvram and booting into safemode and none worked. If anyone has an alternative it would be greatly appreciated as we used these laptops for school, thanks!
