MBP Early 2008 vs Mid 2012 experience for people wanting having one

Last saturday I got a Mid 2012 15” MBP that is a consistent upgrade over my Early 2008 one. I had Sonoma on my 2008 one and have installed Sequoia on the newer one. It’s definitely the OS you should go for such a 12+ yo beast, near native experience as long you have enough RAM (mine has 16 gigs so ok) and a SSD. It works exceptionally well. For my 2008 one it worked fine for basic task under Sonoma but it was sluggish and anything felt so stretched to the limit. So considering it’s now my backup Mac I went back to Monterey and it’s astonishing how well it works on a machine that is pushing 18 now. Even there you need to use the full 6 gigs and SSD combo but it’s still impressive. In conclusion I would say that for any supported Mac OpenCore and MacOS 12+ is still a viable option to give an extra few years of life. Considering that I was already feeling blessed when dosdude1 managed to get Catalina on such old already 10+ yo machines, having things up to Monterey on pre-2010 stuff is an impressive deal. This project has definitely been something amazing.
