Why Wi-Fi Works in Sonoma but Fails in Mavericks
It's ironic that your 2012 Mac Mini has Wi-Fi in the 'patched' OS but not the 'native' one. This is due to the Modern Wireless patches applied by OCLP.
The Explanation:
- Firmware Mismatch: OCLP updates the Wi-Fi card's firmware to work with Sonoma. Sometimes, this newer firmware is incompatible with the 12-year-old drivers in Mavericks (10.9).
- The Fix: Boot into Mavericks and reset the NVRAM (Cmd+Opt+P+R). This clears the OCLP-injected wireless variables and allows Mavericks to load its own legacy kexts.
- Mavericks Version: Ensure you are using the 10.9.5 'Combo Update', which includes the final driver fixes for the Ivy Bridge Mac Mini.
Original Question: "Mac mini (Macmini6,1) WiFi issues"
Doesn't see WiFi when booted to mavericks, sees WiFi on opencored Sonoma. Idk what causes this maybe mavericks doesn't have the kexts? The mavericks installer app is 10.9.5 without the new iTunes logo if that matters
