How to Diagnose Help - Charging LED After an OCLP macOS Upgrade

Power, battery, Touch ID and trackpad behaviour after OCLP upgrades is usually firmware, SMC or root-patch related.

Step-by-Step Fix:

  1. Back up first: Make a Time Machine backup or clone before changing OpenCore, EFI, root patches, or macOS versions.
  2. Reset low-level state: Reset NVRAM/PRAM, then perform the correct SMC reset for the Mac model.
  3. Re-apply patches: Open OpenCore Legacy Patcher, run Post-Install Root Patch, reboot, then test again.
  4. Check hardware health: Review cycle count, battery service status, trackpad settings and Apple Diagnostics before blaming macOS.
  5. Compare with a supported OS: If the issue is critical, test Monterey or the last officially supported macOS to rule out failing hardware.

Final check: Change one thing at a time, reboot, and keep a copy of the last working EFI before the next test.
