I have early i5 2011 MBP 13” which had OCLP versions of Monterey and Ventura no problem, and both ran fairly well. But…. battery and fan limitations drove me mad. So, I thought I’d try the dosdude Mojave, for less than an hour, which was an awful patch and nothing worked, so went back to OCLP, but have now tried Big Sur three times and two different versions of that OS, but on every install with about 10-15 mins left it crashes to the white screen with the little circle and line through it, and won’t boot, and also the OCLP yellow EFI is no longer on the USB install, after the crash, rendering the MBP to a brick. It’s painful because the SSD has no OS at all to use after that. And as most of you know, internet recovery never works anymore and the ‘connection error’ is all you get.
Just wondering if this is a common error with Big Sur, or is something else different for Big Sur?
Any help appreciated, thanks.
Formatting erase SSD prior should be APFS shouldn’t it, and not Mac OS journaled? I’ve forgotten that bit, but sure it should work on APFS.
