Replacing iMac17,1’s built in BlueTooth with a Dongle. Successful Strategies?

Trying to use a TP-Link USB Bluetooth Adapter (UB400) instead of the built in Broadcom chip which seems to be acting up even before my OCLP experiments. Any body have any tips or working strategies?
