I have a Macbook Pro from 2012. I upgraded the hard drive to a 1 TB SSD and the RAM to 16gb (DDR3). It has a 2.5 ghz Core i5 processor. The idea was to either use it as a NAS or just as storage. But, my current daily driver is a Macbook Air 2017 - 8gb ram, 512ssd, 1.8 ghz Core i5 (have to double check that) running Sonoma and it's a little slow. So I think I want to switch to my Pro as my daily driver.
The pro is currently running Catalina. I've seen in this sub that people recommend Monterey for this computer, but with my upgrades, is that still the recommendation?
Also, would it be better to just switch to Linux on both of my computers?
