Manually Restoring Missing Essential Sounds
If GarageBand 10.3.5 won't download its sound packs on your 2011 MacBook Pro, you can manually migrate them from another Mac or a third-party archive.
The Manual Install Path:
- Library Location: The sound packs are stored in
/Library/Application Support/GarageBand/Instrument Libraryand/Library/Audio/Apple Loops. - Source: If you have access to a newer Mac, copy these folders to your 2011 MBP.
- Permissions: After copying, you must fix the permissions. Open Terminal and run:
sudo chmod -R 755 /Library/Application\ Support/GarageBand. - Logic Pro Fix: If Logic didn't fix it, it's because Logic also failed its background download. Ensure you have a stable Ethernet connection and try 'Download All Available Sounds' from the Logic menu again.

 | Hi! Not sure if this is the right place to post this but hopefully you guys know the best what to do. On my 2011 MacBook Pro running Sequoia I have downloaded GarageBand 10.3.5. from internet archive and it does not want to download the sound packs for it (I guess the servers does not exist anymore). Is there a way to download from a third party place and copy it to the GB files? I have not found any websites or yt videos which would have been any help. At one point someone wrote that downloading Logic Pro X would fix this because they use the same contents and logic would have them on install but that was not the case for me because the same issue happened there.
