Resolving Persistent Installation Crashes
If your Sequoia installation keeps freezing at '20 minutes remaining' and giving the prohibited circle, your Mac is losing contact with the OpenCore bootloader during the restart phase.
The Fix:
- USB Stability: If you are using a USB stick, try a different port or a different brand of USB. 'Prohibited circle' often means the Mac can't find the boot files mid-install.
- NVRAM Reset: Reset your NVRAM 3 times. This clears any stuck install variables that are forcing the crash loop.
- Disk Health: Since it happens even after erasing, your Apple SSD might have failing blocks. Try installing to an external SSD to see if the issue persists.
- OCLP Version: Ensure you are using OCLP 2.4.1. Earlier versions had a bug with the 2015 MBP installer handoff.
Original Question: "even after I erased my Apple ssd sequoia installation keeps freezing and turning off the computer"
It did this before erasing the hard disk, after that it showed the same thing happening. Do I just have to keep doing it? (i booted into the macOS installer and it gives the prohibited circle, then leading me to the sequoia “macOS installer”. It reset me back to 29 minutes after crashing at 20 minutes left
