Restoring Input Devices After Login in Tahoe
If your 2012 MacBook Pro keyboard and trackpad work at the login screen but stop immediately after, it's a HID (Human Interface Device) driver conflict in the new macOS Tahoe kernel.
The Fix:
- Safe Mode Boot: Hold Shift during boot to reach the desktop. Safe Mode loads basic drivers and usually restores input.
- OCLP Nightly Patches: Ensure you are using the latest 'Nightly' build of OCLP. Apply the Legacy HID root patches.
- NVRAM Reset: Perform a triple PRAM reset. This clears the USB and HID hardware state in the firmware.
- External Devices: If even external mice don't work, you must use Screen Sharing from another Mac to remotely access the system and apply the necessary patches.
Original Question: "keyboard and trackpad error"
| I recently installed the TAHOE system version and it was working fine, but now I'm having this problem: when I have to choose a user and enter the password, it works, but as soon as I log in, the keyboard and trackpad stop working, even when I connect an external keyboard and mouse. Please help, it's a 2012 MacBook Pro. [link] [comments] |
