Making the Most of Limited Memory
Running any modern macOS on 2GB of RAM is a challenge, but you can improve the experience with these 'lean' system tweaks.
Optimization Tips:
- SSD is Mandatory: If you don't have an SSD, 2GB of RAM will be unusable. An SSD makes 'Swap Memory' much faster.
- Reduce Transparency: Go to System Settings > Accessibility > Display and check Reduce Transparency. This saves significant GPU and RAM resources.
- Lean Browser: Use Orion or Firefox with minimal extensions. Chrome is too heavy for 2GB of RAM.
- Disable Widgets: In Sonoma/Sequoia, disable all desktop widgets to free up precious megabytes of memory.
