"Hackintoshing" a MacBook
Image
Hello everyone-- I will get straight to the point. I would like to run a newer version of Mac OS X on my now unsupported C2D MacBook. I have downloaded the Niresh ISO for Mavericks, and would like to know how to install it. Should I bootcamp it, or can I directly boot off of the USB? Thanks! submitted by /u/gts250gamer101 [link] [comments] [► Source]
It took me 3 attempts of ups and downs. Finally running stable. Just landed behind the iMac Pro. I OC'd to 4,8 Ghz.

Problem installing High Sierra on X79
Image
i7 4820k Asus Sabertooth X79 Gigabyte GeForce GTX 780 16GB DDR3 @ 1600MHz Good day/evening. I've been trying to get this setup running for a couple of hours now. Followed this guide: http://www.rampagedev.com/install-mac-os-x/ With very little knowledge about troubleshooting these issues, I've been all over Google and forums without finding a single working solution. I provided a video as well as an image since I don't actually know what the problem is, and please let me know if I should include some other logs or configs (I used the exact same method as the guide suggested). A video of the problem: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AfrJifVcfEQ The "last screen" with the number "593" just going up (593, 594 etc, (doesn't always start on 593, sometimes on 576 )): https://imgur.com/a/iDOP5 Thank you in advance :) submitted by /u/Aquultech [link] [comments] [► Source]
GA-H270N Wifi Card
Image
Is the included wifi card in the above motherboard compatible with a hackintosh system or do I need to get a 3rd party card? I've done some research and fingers point to Dell card Broadcom card ( https://www.amazon.ca/Dell-Wireless-802-11ac-Broadcom-BCM94352Z/dp/B00X6J4NBY ) for this motherboard, but I haven't found any pages that say if the included card works or not. I'm planning a build with a Streacom F1C EVO WS case and was planning on using a M.2 style wifi card, but if I can't find a suitable M.2 card, I'm going to upscale to a Streacom F7C ALPHA for the PCIe slot, Thanks PS Is this an ok place to post my final build to ask if it's all compatible? This is my first hackintosh, but my 5th computer build. submitted by /u/jaysun_n [link] [comments] [► Source]
U.S. DOJ and SEC Launch Investigation Into Apple Over iPhone Slowdown [Report]
Image
The United States Department of Justice and Securities and Exchange Commission have launched an investigation into Apple's secret slowdown of iPhone devices, reports Bloomberg. The agencies are investigating whether Apple violated securities laws concerning its disclosures about a software update that slowed down certain iPhones to prevent unexpected shutdowns. The government has requested information from the company, according to the people, who asked not to be named because the probe is private. The inquiry is in early stages, they cautioned, and it’s too soon to conclude any enforcement will follow. Investigators are looking into public statements made by Apple on the situation, they added. Apple to Focus on Improving Quality of macOS [Report]
Image
Apple is planning to shift focus from developing new features to improving the quality and reliability of macOS, according to a Bloomberg report. This follows an earlier report today from Axios which said the company was doing the same for iOS. The company told its software engineering groups about the change this month, one of the people said. The shift will also affect this year’s update to Mac computer software, but to a lesser degree, the person said, adding that planned upgrades to Apple Watch and Apple TV software won’t be affected. macOS has seen its share of issues over the past few months with a major bug letting anyone log in as root without a password, another bug that let you unlock App Store preferences without a password, and the Meltdown and Spectre security vulnerabilities. Am I just impatient or should I just wait for this? Third, I don't have any sounds!! Is there any possible way to fix this? Hey y’all. I know it’s my config in question because when I get to the clover boot screen I notice that all of my boot flags are missing. I have a backup of the config but I the only way I can access my Mac is in safe mode which doesn’t allow me to mount the EFI. Sound assertion in AppleHDADriver when booting High Sierra installer
Image
Hey there! I'm trying to install 10.13 from my UniBeast USB, but everytime I try to boot, it gets stuck on a sound assertion in some random line. The farthest I've gotten was a scattered boot screen like you see when you don't have a proper graphics driver installed, but that's about it. What I've tried: a bunch of different boot args (safe mode panics) Acer Aspire A515-51-563W Core i5 7200U 8GB RAM 120GB SATA SSD + 120GB M.2 SSD Thanks to anyone who can help. submitted by /u/jaspanye [link] [comments] [► Source]

Hi there ! First thing, I'm new in the hackintosh universe, but very old in the MacOS and generally, the Apple universe. This month I built my first desktop computer with this configuration for now: Intel Core i7 8700k MSI Z370 PC Pro 16Go DDR4 2666Mhz (Ballistix Sport) Samsung 850 EVO 250Go (Windows 10 Installed on it) SanDisk X300s 256 Go (Dedicated to my Hackintosh installation) I don't have a graphic card yet, for now I'm using the integrated graphics, the Intel UHD 630. I'm planning to buy a GTX 1080 in the next months. Following the installation guide from tonymacx86, I've been able to create the bootable USB key and begin the installation but I have few issues: Once the first part on the installation done, the system reboot annnnd i'm geting either the error "The path /System/Installation/Packages/OSInstall.mpkg appears to be missing or damaged" when the system is able to boot or I'm stuck at the boot with the Apple logo and the bar loading ...
WSJ: Apple is Cutting iPhone X Production Due to Weaker Than Expected Demand
Image
The WSJ reports that Apple is cutting iPhone X production due to weaker than expected demand. Corroborating a recent report from Nikkei, the WSJ says Apple plans to make about 20 million iPhone X handsets in 1Q18, down from its planned production of 40 million. Some component orders have been cut by 60%. “They always do this when things aren’t selling well. It’s a real headache,” a source said. Apple to Delay Some iOS Features to Focus on Quality and Performance [Report]
Image
Apple has decided to delay some iOS features planned for 2018 to focus on quality and performance, according to Axios. The company has suffered criticism lately for slew of bugs and security vulnerabilities in its software for both iOS and macOS. Software head Craig Federighi announced the revised plan to employees at a meeting earlier this month, shortly before he and some top lieutenants headed to a company offsite. On the cutting board: Pushed into 2019 are a number of features including a refresh of the home screen and in-car user interfaces, improvements to core apps like mail and updates to the picture-taking, photo editing and sharing experiences. Some inside the team question whether the new focus will actually lead to higher quality, reports Axios. Additionally, customers tend to pay for new features rather than security or reliability, which are difficult to assess at time of purchase. The Hackintosh ideal is dead... along with this subreddit.
Image
I have been building hackintosh computers as a hobby since 10.4.4 was leaked. I did this to learn the new OS, and also to see how much hardware I could possibly run it on. In the process, I learned a heck of a lot about Apple and Mac OS X, and I believe from memory, I have never failed to get macOS running on any hardware, including AMD CPU's. The current state-of-affairs with Hackintosh is easy to see in this subreddit: "Please help me build a hackintosh to do professional work on" Apple make up for not selling their operating system due to hardware sales, and they make up in a big way. When you don't pay for the hardware OR the operating system, you are hurting Apple. I have purchased four real Mac's (one Mac Pro, and three iMac's) in that time, I still have the late-2013 iMac. This subreddit has become a sad joke, which revolves around building a Mac Pro replacement for a small fraction of Apple's asking price. Almost all these posts are about skank-ass...
