Making Hackintosh installer in Linux
Preparing for OpenCore Boot Manager Upgrade Though a fresh macOS install isn't necessary for using OpenCore, some prefer starting with a clean slate. Here's what you'll need: A 4GB USB Stick The macrecovery.py tool from OpenCore Downloading macOS To create a bootable installer, follow these steps: Navigate to the macrecovery's folder. Execute the appropriate macrecovery.py command for your desired macOS version. For example: bash Copy code # For macOS Lion (10.7): python ./macrecovery.py -b Mac-2E6FAB96566FE58C -m 00000000000F25Y00 download (Further commands for different versions are available in the OpenCore documentation) Note: Depending on the OS, you'll either obtain BaseSystem or RecoveryImage files. Making the installer in Windows

Supported version: 0.6.6 While you don't need a fresh install of macOS to use OpenCore, some users prefer having a fresh slate with their boot manager upgrades. To start you'll need the following: 4GB USB Stick For USB larger than 16 GB to format in FAT32 use  Rufus method macrecovery.py (opens new window) This will require  Python installed (opens new window) # Downloading macOS To grab legacy installers is super easy, first grab a copy of  OpenCorePkg   (opens new window) and head to  /Utilities/macrecovery/ . Next copy the folder path for the macrecovery folder: From here, you'll want to open up a Command Prompt and cd into the macrecovery folder that we copied earlier: cd Paste_Folder_Path Now run one of the following depending on what version of macOS you want(Note these scripts rely on  Python   (opens new window) support, please install if you haven't already): # Lion(10.7): python macrecovery.py -b Mac-2E6FAB96566FE58C -m 00000000000F25Y00 do...
My Hackintosh doesn't work with my new monitor
Image
Hello, I have a hackintosh that I built in in 2017 I think it's either on sierra or el capitan I am not sure. It's a 7700k, z270 aorus gaming 5, 1060 6gb. I updated recently to a 240hz monitor and ever since then I have not been able to boot up my mac without it just not sending a signal to the monitor. Maybe it's because I updated the drivers for my graphics card? I honestly don't know. Really I built this machine with the help of a professor in college and I never learned much about how the system actually functioned I just know that it worked. All I know is the mac boots up it shows the boot logo on my second monitor (HDMI output) and then it shuts off the monitor and never comes back on. There was one point a few months ago when I could get it to boot into the os for a few minutes before the monitor shut off but I haven't been able to use it since then. If anyone has any ideas I would greatly appreciate them. Thanks in advance. submitted by /u/bangers132 ...

GUI never starts on macOS VMs on ESXi
Image
I'm using the Unlocker 3 from here https://github.com/hugepants/esxi-unlocker I've never run into this issue before, but it even affects VMs running on nested ESXi hosts so I'm almost tempted to believe it's a problem specific to this hardware. This is on Netapp HCI . When I go to boot a VM from an ISO, it gets to the point where the GUI would start and I get a beachball cursor and the apple logo is still visible. I've tested this on multiple versions of macOS including Lion, El Capitan, High Sierra, Mojave. same behavior. I would be inclined to say the the Intel Xeon Silver CPU is not supported, but I can boot into single user mode just fine, and that shouldn't affect the virtual GPU presented to the VMs. I'm not passing through a GPU or anything. just using the Vmware virtual graphics device. The intent was to create a pool of mac devices for testing rolling out our MDM strategy to non-Windows devices (all the devs that use Macs at work). Any ideas w...
Merom processors with OpenCore?
Image
I have this old Dell Latitude D530 with a Core 2 Duo T7250 (Merom) and an Intel GMA X3100. While the Merom processor would theoretically allow me to run anything up to El Capitan, the X3100 with OpenCore only works with Leopard, Snow Leopard, and Lion. The only problem is that there seems to be a lack of information on the Merom processor family. The guides for SSDTs and the config.plist only seem to target Penryn and up for desktops - for laptops information is targeted for Clarksfield/Arrandale and up. Is there any resource on how OpenCore works with these old Merom machines? submitted by /u/SKStrategia06 [link] [comments] [► Source]

Blurry screen on Catalina
Image
Hello, tonight i've updated my hackintosh was on El Capitan. I used SwitchResX to use 1440p res and it worked perfectly, but now on Catalina, in 1440p my screen is blurry and I don't understand why, but 1080p works perfectly. I think it's probably about my SMBIOS who's simulate a non-retina display but I can't change it because my computer restart if i use iMac 16,2 instead of 14,2. Any ideas? OC opencore sabertooth x79 El capitan install - help
Image
Hi guys, can open core boot loader work with my system ? I have sabertooth x79, cpu 3930k and gpu ZOTAC GeForce GTX 680 4GB. i have legacy bios not UEFI, same thing for the gpu. SSD 830 EVO and m.2 960 EVO. I have always been using my mackintosh with clover but getting lately some regular crashes and tired of the power management issue where the cpu throttle to full speed and not go down.. i guess its some poor or broken patching from clover... I would love to try open core and install a fresh install of El Capitan 10.11.6 to my m.2 960 evo but not sure where to start and what i should include in the EFI folder of the usb install disk. Of course I'm planing to install Big sur as well but i still need some software that works in El Capitan that i can't live without, for example like DUE Version 1.2.6 (812) submitted by /u/RedbuL007 [link] [comments] [► Source]
Converting hackintosh back into windows?
Image
I don't know if this is the right place to put this but it seems like a sorta appropriate place. So hackintosh stuff isn't my strong suit so I'm sure that what i want to do is simpler than I think. Anyway we have this kinda old hackintosh that we used to use until we upgraded to an early 2009 mac pro. The hackintosh currently has El Capitan on it and we don't use it anymore. So I was wondering how you convert the hackintosh back into windows 10. I've looked around and all I've been able to find is dual booting which isn't what I want. Any information on how to do this is appreciated! submitted by /u/Orange_juice12 [link] [comments] [► Source]
Nvidia 9600 GSO 512 in an old PC. Is it known to cause problems?
Image
Is this GPU known to not work in a hackintosh? I managed to install El Capitan on a Q6600 and it works great, except that I have massive graphical glitches using this GPU. I tried it in windows and I have no such problems, so it can't be a hardware problem. Can you please take a look at this for more details and help me a little, pleeeaaase: https://www.reddit.com/r/hackintosh/comments/l2ohcm/weird_gpu_problem_in_hackintosh_nvidia_9600_gso/ submitted by /u/serycoola [link] [comments] [► Source]
Weird GPU problem in hackintosh. (Nvidia 9600 GSO 512)

I managed to install El Capitan and everything is working, except the fact that if I boot without nv_disable=1 (but with Inject Nvidia) using Clover, it sees the GPU correctly and I do have hardware acceleration as expected, but if I do anything on it that requires the GPU even a little (having the animation of opening an app, for example Firefox) or even sometimes randomly if I have more than 2 apps open (2 finder windows and I tried opening System Preferences), it freezes the display and than it starts flickering the way you can see in the imgur album above. Everything on the screen is stuck, but I can still move my mouse cursor for some reason. However the PC doesn't crash or reboot by itself, I need to manually reboot it. And moreover, if I just...
GTX 780 Opencore owners: any special boot Argus? Mac 13,2 Ivy
Image
Hi, I want to Upgrade to High Sierra from a GTX 580, which only goes to El Capitan. Machine is a 3770K. Has anyone had any issues with the GTX 780 booting? I think I may try nvda_drv_vrl=1 and/ or agdpmod=vit9696 if I still get a black screen after booting. My GTX 580 just gets a black screen with High Sierra and was wondering if the GTX 780 will also do that. Thanks EDIT: Boot ARGS submitted by /u/TheRhythm1234 [link] [comments] [► Source]
PATA drive hackintosh?
Image
Hi. I read somewhere that theoretically macos could be installed on a PATA IDE drive, but now I am trying to do that using El Capitan and OpenCore, and I loaded the ATA injector kexts the dortania guide recommended, but after I boot in the installer, I can't find my drive in Disk Utility. I verified and it is connected correctly, it is recognized in BIOS and Windows, but not in the macos installer. Any ideas on how to fix this? Also, I have a hunch that those kexts I installed were only for booting into the OS after it is installed... or, am I wrong? In case I am not wrong, would it be a good Idea to install El Capitan on a flash drive, than put that flash drive inside another PC running macos and create a dmg image from it, and after that use TransMac to put that dmg on my IDE drive? Or is there a much easier and better solution? Thanks. submitted by /u/serycoola [link] [comments] [► Source]

What OS should I choose and why? Is Catalina best option or should I get older version eg Mojave or El Capitan? Small documentation of BCM4322 - cheap half mini PCI-E Wi-Fi solution supported up to 10.14.6
Image
Warning:wall of text(edited the previous title) TL;DR: BCM4322 is the one of the cheaper Wi-Fi solution with half mini PCI-E supported up to 10.14.6(Mojave). With ancient specs(no ac and BT), think twice before you buy. Excluding USB Wi-Fi adapters, native(from real Macs) and compatible cards for macOS aren't cheap nowadays thanks to price gouging/inflation from resellers. Procuring a working card usually means $20+ investment which can be troublesome to dirt cheap builds or low budget users. Fortunately for mPCIe systems there always exists cheap options: the deprecated ones found on older models I'm not saying you should be injecting these older models into newer macOS, which you never should . These are only OK for natively supported old macOS/OSX versions. So, which card? Up on researching I found that BCM4322 is a good balance for those who need dirt cheap Wi-Fi that just works without using USB adapters, nothing else, no BT and no AirDrop . The BCM4322(14e4:432B...
EFI cloning (or: the no-install hackintosh)

With some patience, I got El Capitan to run perfectly on an XPS 8500 that I had lying around. Exciting, since it's newer and faster than my 08 Mac Pro. The reason I went with 10.11 is that I've gotten Sierra and High Sierra to run on this machine before, but always had issues with my HD 5770, and didn't feel like spending money on a newer GPU. Plus, this is what I have on my other machine. So I installed El Capitan, and, after getting the ethernet/usb/sound to work, first impression is that it's...pretty solid. Like, I can't even tell it's non-Apple hardware. It's nice. So nice that I immediately began thinking "Well shit, is this gonna be my new recording rig?" Which was then followed by an immediate "Oh yeah, shit. I gotta move all my my programs, plugins, and licenses over. Thats gonna take days. Ugh" Then a lightbulb went off in my head: What if I stuck my Mac Pro's hard drive in my Dell, booted off the other one, went into my...
