Original Question:

Hello everyone,

Recently I was interested about installing Hackintosh on my MSI GP62 MVR 6RF. Here are the main specs:

Intel Core i7 6700HQ

GTX 1060 3 GB

Intel WIFI card

Killer GB Lan

Here is the link for other specs:

https://www.msi.com/Laptop/GP62MVR-6RF-Leopard-Pro/Specification

Is anyone had experience with same MSI laptop, and is there are any downsides of motherboard compatibility?

I would be really thankful for anyone who can help.

Original Question:

Kernel panic cpu X caller clobbered statistics

Hi everyone.

I have an issue when booting my Open Core. I have a kernel panic like this: panic(cpu X caller 0xffffff801c884e0f): "addInterruptStatistics call for index 0 would have clobbered existing statistics"@/BuildRoot/Library/Caches/com.apple.xbs/Sources/xnu/xnu-4570.20.62/iokit/Kernel/IOService.cpp:6500X is for the cpu number which is different every time.I searched a lot her on Reddit and on the web but I didn't find any way to solve this. I'm joining a screen shot of the panic.

Here is my configuration: Gigabyte Z490 Vision D + Intel i7-10700K - 3,8/5,0 GHz + Sapphire NITRO+ Radeon RX 5700 XT 8Go + Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3200MHz 2x16Go + SSD Samsung 970 EVO Plus NVMe 1To + Be Quiet Dark Rock Pro 4 + Gigabyte P850GHM 80 Plus Gold.

Thanks in advance.

How to Fix Verbose not working

This mini-guide provides a structural approach to troubleshoot and fix the issue.

Prerequisites

  • Confirm your hardware specifications (CPU, GPU, Motherboard).
  • Ensure you have a bootable recovery USB and backup your EFI.

Fix Steps

  1. Boot with -v keepsyms=1 debug=0x100 to identify the exact kernel panic.
  2. Validate your config.plist using ocvalidate.
  3. Ensure your EFI matches the Dortania guide specifications for your CPU generation.

Verification

  • Reboot and verify if the functionality is restored and stable under typical usage.

Original Question:

I can't get the verbose mode to show up. I do have "-v" (without quotes) in the boot args. I do hold cmd-v (tried ctrl-v and Winkey-v as I have a PC keyboard), no dice. Always the Apple logo and no verbose output. What gives?

EDIT: Jesus Christ I need to reset NVRAM in order to get the boot args working.

Original Question:

RX 580/i9 10850k on Asus Z490-p, Big Sur 11.1, OC 0.6.5. When 2nd display is connected (DP or HDMI), there's no power management on the GPU. It's stuck at max frequencies (1340/2000 MHz) at all time. With only one display connected, it downclocks properly up to 300/300. Tried Radeonboost.kext to no avail (it did help with this issue earlier in Catalina).

Any tips?

Original Question:

I know Big Sur is out but when I installed Big Sur earlier this week it just ended up in a bootloop, so I installed Catalina instead and after some troubles it finally worked. Because of my past experience with Big Sur, I've decided that right now I will stay on Catalina. Is Catalina still alright to use as an OS? Or should I try upgrading to Big Sur?

Original Question:

Specs:

  • Gigabyte H470I Aorus Pro AX LGA1200 mITX Desktop Motherboard
  • Intel i9 10900F CPU
  • ASUS Radeon RX 580 Dual Series OC 8GB Video Card
  • G.Skill Trident Z RGB 32GB (2x 16GB) DDR4 3200MHz
  • Crucial MX500 500GB SATA 2.5-inch
  • Corsair SF750 SFX Platinum Modular 750W Power Supply

Using OpenCore 0.6.5 RELEASE, https://github.com/ljzxzxl/gigabyte-h470i-hackintosh-efi EFI, and some changes to the config.plist suggested by https://opencore.slowgeek.com/

I originally installed Catalina which seemed to be working well except for Bluetooth and WiFi so I used HoRNDIS-9.2.2. But on a whim I wiped the drive and installed Big Sur.

After I selected the drive to install it on it kept rebooting and didn't seem to install, but I kept selecting the Big Sur installer until the drive I installed it on appeared in the list. I went through the set up pages and to my surprise it automatically detected my WiFi network. I have not changed the WiFi bluetooth chip on the motherboard.

USB ports work. WiFi and Bluetooth work. I'm not sure what else to test, those are the main hardware things I would be using the most often. But I'm so happy it works!

Original Question:

More or less the title, except I have photos of the verbose debug output when I'm booting up!

https://ibb.co/album/q0rLzq

Errors appear in this order:

  1. virtual IOReturn will appear and cause the system to pause for a little bit.
  2. telemetry shows up and bombs the system. It'll sometimes hold for up to a minute, but usually lasts about 35-45 seconds.
  3. SOMETIMES I'll get the _vnode errors, but I haven't seen it every time.
  4. I'll then always get busy timeout[0], this hangs for a while and then eventually the system boots into macOS with no issues present at all when I'm working.

Wondering if anyone has any ideas about what's going on? I used to be able to boot within 30 seconds from off to completely booted into macOS. Nowadays it takes upwards of a minute and a half.

Help me Obi-Wan Redditoni, you're one of my only hopes (aside from the discord).

Original Question:

I'm on OC 0.6.5 w/ 11.1. My system sleeps fine and wakes but the last piece of the puzzle for me is trying to figure out why my screen won't wake up with the rest of the system. It requires a second space bar tap or mouse click before my screen will wake up. I never had this issue with Clover.

Using method 1, I followed Dortania's guide for keyboard wake issues here: https://dortania.github.io/OpenCore-Post-Install/usb/misc/keyboard.html#method-1-add-wake-type-property-recommended. I've tried method 1 twice now and it still isn't working properly.

I'm wondering if it has to do with my port mapping which I did using USBMap from CorpNewt. The thing that I'm curious about, and it may be the cause of my issue: I'm on a Z390 board but using iMacPro 1,1. With the Z390, Big Sur, and a Coffee Lake CPU I don't need the XHCI-unsupported.kext. It also seems like with just those three factors, I don't need to do any renames prior to mapping as outlined in the system preparation guide for USB mapping here: https://dortania.github.io/OpenCore-Post-Install/usb/system-preparation.html#checking-what-renames-you-need.

But I'm using iMacPro 1,1 as my SMBIOS, which came out on Skylake architecture. So I guess I do need to rename XHC1 prior to mapping? I didn't do this when I did my map. Could that be the issue?

Thanks for any advice you can give!!

Pertinent Specs:

CPU: i5-8600k

GPU: Sapphire Pulse RX 580 with a DP connection. iGPU is disabled in BIOS. Running solely off of my dGPU.

SMBIOS: iMacPro 1,1. Using CPUFriend.kext so the power is managed correctly for my i5-8600k.

MOBO: Z390 I AORUS PRO WIFI, BIOS ver F7.

How to Fix Big Sur Vanilla, HD Graphics 630 HELP

This mini-guide provides a structural approach to troubleshoot and fix the issue.

Prerequisites

  • Confirm your hardware specifications (CPU, GPU, Motherboard).
  • Ensure you have a bootable recovery USB and backup your EFI.

Fix Steps

  1. Check if your GPU requires WhateverGreen or specific boot-args (e.g., agdpmod=pikera).
  2. Ensure Metal acceleration is fully supported for your macOS version.
  3. Update Lilu and WhateverGreen to the latest versions.

Verification

  • Reboot and verify if the functionality is restored and stable under typical usage.

Original Question:

So i want to use my iGPU in Big Sur. I tried both bootloaders clover and opencore but still nothing. I'd like to use it with 2 monitors. GPU->DVI-D->VGA->Monitor, GPU->HDMI->Monitor (like that)

I configurated everything to the iGPU but if i boot into the OS in verbose mode my boot stuck here: "IOConsoleUsers: time(0) 0->0, lln 0, llk 1". This is after the early boot process.

If i take out the video card and connect both monitors to the motherboard i boot successfully but i've got some bad things. Like all colors are not accurate red is blue, green is yellow etc. Lot of graphics bug. In the About Mac it seems the HD Graphics 630 is active but i think not.

CPU: Intel i7-7700k
GPU: Asus Nvidia GTX 1060 OC 3GB (I dont wanna use this)
iGPU: HD Graphics 630 1,5GB VRAM (I want to use this video card on Big Sur)
RAM: 16GB
Motherboard: Gigabyte Z270-HD3P
Audio Codec: Realtek ALC887
Bootloader: OpenCore

Original Question:

Hi there, I'm facing a problem others have too: My webcam only works once after each sleep cycle. As in it works a first time after waking up, if I turn off the app that relies on it, the webcam won't start again, only a black screen until my computer go to sleep. After waking up it's working again.

My computer is a XPS9360 with OC 0.6.5 on Big Sur 11.1

See: - https://github.com/fredldotme/Dell-XPS13-9343-Hackintosh - https://github.com/theQuert/XPS-9360-macOS/issues/53 - https://github.com/theQuert/XPS-9360-macOS/issues/64

I don't use any kext (no UVC2FacetimeHD, no FacetimeHD). Tried both with no success (either same result or no webcam recognised)

The VID/PID of my camera are: 3141/26380

When I was running Mojave/Clover I had no issues at all, using FaceTimeHD

Any idea ? Would adding the vid/pid on the FacetimeHD.kext solve the issue ? If so, how/where in Info.plist ?

Regards

Original Question:

Laptop name: Lenovo Xiaoxin Air 12 (2017)

I bought this laptop in 2017 and it was come with pre-installed win10 and more importantly, this laptop has a LTE module like some thing that being used in Thinkpad, so basically you can insert a 4G sim card and you should be able to connecting to internet by cellular data.

Since it using Core m3 processor, which only have 4.5w TDP. This machine is totally fanless. No noise at all. Maximum temp under load well be 75C, in idle, it just feel warm in touch.

External display is working by using a type-c to HDMI adapter. Front Camera and built-in mic and speakers are also working. Volume up and Volume down hotkey is still working. Touchpad support multipoint touching and gesture also work. I replaced wireless card so now you can use AirDrop and Handoff.

If you want a absolutely silent hackintosh laptop with decent performance, this one is great.

Built in screen is amazing, it was 1920x1200 IPS screen and 70% NTSC, you can enable HI-DPI in preferences but you will lose half resolution.

What is not working: 3.5mm Line in/out, Native Backlight control (You can use qiuckshade to change the brightness), Battery status.

How to Fix Mac newbie: Intel Mac Mini or Hackintosh

Linux guy here, newbie to Macs.

Considering buying a Mac Mini for personal use and work (I am a web developer). It would become my main machine (I also have a recent 16" Intel Mac Book Pro, but the laptop is owned by the company I work for, so it doesn't count).

While the M1 version is tempting I don't think I should buy it, for two reasons mainly:

  1. I have three 24" 1920x1200 displays I want to connect it to
  2. I have read of occasional bugs or lack of M1 support from software I may need to use (Docker, VirtualBox, and more) - I'm sure this might get sorted down the road but I need something that works now if I buy

That said, I checked the specs of the Intel Mini and they seem really not appealing and overpriced. Surprised there's no 9 or 10th generation option for example. Has Apple made any statement whether they would upgrade their Intel Mini line?

Anyway, I'm willing to try staying with a Mac, I'm just not 100% sure it should be now, or whether the Mac Mini is the savviest choice.

Friend mentioned he could build an itx Hackintosh for me with Big Sur. While tempting, I really have no clue abput how reliable that option would be and I wouldn't want finding myself having to fix stuff all the time. I really know nothing about Hackintosh and I'm not sure if an Hackintosh would require occasional maintenance when there are software updates.

Opinions?
