How to disable dGPU (Nvidia) on Z490 hardware?
Image
I have a MSI MEG Unify Z490i, i9-10850k with a GTX 1070 and want to be able to run on the Intel iGPU when in macOS. Since the hardware config seems to require something like iMac 20,2 I can't get it to ignore the dGPU and boot solely off the iGPU. Is this possible with Comet Lake hardware? On a related note, is there any more info about Big Navi in Big Sur's latest beta 5 update? I'm eyeing the AMD RX 6800 but don't want to go for it until I know there's driver support (not that I can actually find one for MSRP). submitted by /u/yeahgoestheusername [link] [comments] [► Source]

NVIDIA ready for OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.2
Image
Nvidia Releases Mountain Lion 10.8.2 Graphics Drivers Nvidia has updated its 3rd party graphics drivers for GeForce and Quadro cards. The release notes are somewhat vague, but we can assume that they are designed, tested and tweaked for 10.8.2. Installation and removal instructions for the drivers are provided in the Additional Information section at the link below. Please note that these drivers should be considered experimental. If you aren't having any issues, do not install- the native OS X drivers work great for most people. If you do end up testing, report your findings in the comments! Version: 304.00.05f02 Release Date: 2012.10.02 Operating System: Mac OSX Mountain Lion 10.8.2 File Size: 26.2 MB Download: Nvidia updates CUDA to 5.0.36 Nvidia has updated CUDA for the Mac to 5.0.36. The release notes have not changed since the last update, but we can assume that this update supports changes introduced in 10.8.2. Please note that these are not general graphics drivers, but an ...
iATKOS ML will include the new nVidia drivers and fixes
Image
nVidia released new drivers for Mac OS X 10.8.1. Pretty improved nvidia drivers for all supported nvidia cards, from G80 to latest kepler.. So installing this driver is highly recommended! here it is The issues that are solved as we tested: - Freezes (black/blue/white) and overheating problems for some laptop/desktop chips - Device id injection does not seem to be a must (I am still investigating) - GTX 670/680/690 OpenCL problem - Multiple GPU black screen/freeze problems OpenCL sm2.0+ hack is still needed for sm2.1 and newer cards (by@lisapower) >> - open /System/Library/Extensions/GeForceGLDriver.bundle/Contents/MacOS/libclh.dylib using a hex editor find 8b811c0c0000eb068b81200c0000 and replace it by: b80200000090eb06b80000000090 save it. uphuck

Multi GPUs and iAtkos MLM 10.8.2
Image
If you use multiple GT2xx core and newer nVidia VGA cards on your computer, then do not use VGA sensor plugin (GPUSensors.kext in this example) of the FakeSMC.kext. It may cause IOGraphicsFamily.kext related random kernel panics before the GUI starts.  It runs good on single GPUs.

GPU Support for iAtkos MLM 10.8.2
Image
10.8.2 supports nVidia gpus from G80 core to the newest kepler series ( [LINK] ). This does not mean that all of them will work of course but most of them will. Some of them work with issues (some are known issues and some may not be, so that there is not a release yet, not many people are using it and there is not much feedback) and some may not work but most of them will have success. Besides, many of the nVidia cards will need device id injection to Apple's stock drivers (our release will include automated device id injection option), however nVidia's drivers for 10.8.1 does not need that injection. About ATI, you know I am so not interested in ATI cards but for now 7xxx is not supported. Most of the ATI 6xxx/5xxx/4xxx cards work with modified drivers and the users will have to take the additional steps to use such cards after installation. by uphuck :

Optimizing NVIDIA GeForce 4xx and 5xx Graphics Cards [iATKOS Compatible]
Image
Using the latest MultiBeast, all NVIDIA 4xx and 5xx graphics cards can be optimized for Mac OS X Lion. We've included a  Combo OpenCL Enabler , that not only patches all device IDs into the native driver, but patches the system to use the power of OpenCL. Earlier NVIDIA (pre-Fermi) models and ATI/AMD cards are OpenCL enabled by default, and do not need any patching. Integrated graphics solutions such as Intel HD 3000 do not support OpenCL. How to Enable OpenCL for NVIDIA 4xx and 5xx Graphics Cards:      1. Update to the latest version of Mac OS X Lion      2. Download MultiBeast      3. Run Combo OpenCL Enabler      4. Reboot NOTE: Only for Mac OS X Lion native drivers with NVIDIA 4xx and 5xx cards. If you've previously installed the official Quadro for Mac drivers for Lion from NVIDIA's site, do NOT run the Combo OpenCL Enabler. NVIDIA has created a similar but proprietary technology, called CUDA. According to N...
New nVidia drivers for Lion [KEXTS]

GTX580 support out of the box – LINK and just one string i found in gldriver – KeplerDecisionMaker (has also FermiDecisionMaker) Far less than what we see for tahiti in amd drivers tho. But main thing about this driver is ability to work without injector/graphicsEnabler (thx to our forum members for figuring it out) , and its fine for dual-dvi cards. So nVidia cards works without efi rom or aty_init on macpros now, just plug it in, just no boot screen. :)
