Hackintosh won't boot up without disable fakesmc.text
Image
The screenshot provided from boot manager shows an option to disable the FakeSMC.kext, which is a crucial kext (kernel extension) for Hackintosh systems as it emulates the System Management Controller device found on real Mac hardware. It's unusual that your Hackintosh won't boot unless you disable this kext because macOS typically requires it to boot successfully. If your Hackintosh only boots when disabling FakeSMC.kext and you have to put Nvidia graphics to VESA mode, there could be several underlying issues. Here's a step-by-step approach to diagnosing and resolving the problem: Check for Correct Version of FakeSMC : Make sure you're using the correct version of FakeSMC.kext that is compatible with the macOS version you're running. Replace FakeSMC with VirtualSMC : Consider replacing FakeSMC.kext with VirtualSMC.kext, which is a modern alternative to FakeSMC and may offer better compatibility with newer versions of macOS. Upgrading Hardware - How to amend Kexts
Image
Hi all, I am going to be upgrading my wifi card on my HP laptop which is running Big Sur but what is the best way to update my Kexts without breaking the current system. I was thinking of mounting my EFI, deleting it (so that it all runs off USB), then update the Kexts on USB, swap hardware. The reason why I was thinking of doing it this way is that if there are any problems I can revert back my kexts and config using another computer. If I break the system EFI then I don't know how I would get into MACOS or update it.... What is the correct procedure to upgrading my hardware? submitted by /u/ceanth [link] [comments] [► Source]
Can't get AppleALC working on Big Sur. VoodooHDA works, but apps randomly crash

First of all my specs: Motherboard: MSI A78M-E35 (Realtek ALC887) RAM: 16GB Corsair Vengeance LP (1600Mhz DDR3) CPU: AMD A10-5800K (overclocked @ 4,20Ghz) GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GT 640 SMBIOS: MacPro7,1 (Already fixed iServices) EFI: Link to Google Drive Monitors: 2x Dell P2214H (One connected over VGA, the other over a HDMI->DVI cable) I successfully installed macOS 11.2.3 on my PC. I currently have two issues: First stage of the boot logo happens on my left screen, but when the OS loads it switches to the right No sound because AppleALC is not detecting (or patching) on-board audio. The first issue is something I honestly don't care too much about, but if anyone knows how to fix its let me know. The latter is the real issue as sound is pretty important. I've tried the following: Every single layout ID. First time I tried this I didn't realise it was prioritising GPU audio to be patched. VoodooHDA. This worked great, it detected both audio devices and al...

Stuck on macOS Recovery and setup is still in Russian

Currently have these 2 issues, if anyone knows how to solve any or all I'd be super grateful: • After changing the prevlang-kb to enUS it still displays in russian, I reset NVRAM to no avail • After entering macOS recovery to install macOS for the first time it says an internet connection is required even after plugging ethernet into the computer and installing necessary kexts Specs: ASUS Chromebox CN60: https://www.cnet.com/products/asus-chromebox-cn60-m020u-usff-core-i7-4600u-2-1-ghz-4-gb-ssd-16-gb/ submitted by /u/hyst3rick [link] [comments] [► Source]
Can I use the WWAN antenna as the 3rd antenna for my wifi card? (Half-mini PCI-E BCM94360HMB)
Image
... MacOS 10.14.6 - Opencore 0.6.7 - HP folio 9470m (i5-3437U) Right now, my wifi card is BCM94352HMB. Wifi/Airdrop works great. Unfortunately, I can't manage to get Handoff/Instant wifi/University Clipboard work. I am planning to switch to the BCM94360HMB for better feature. The problem is the BCM94360HMB wants 3 antennas, but my laptop only has 2 antennas. I noticed that there are 2 more antennas for the WWAN card (spare). Any change I could use the WWAN antenna as the 3rd antenna for the wifi card? See the photo below for more info 👇 Half mini PCIe BCM94352HMB (2 antennas) & 2 WWAN antennas The BCM94360HMB looks like this (3 antenna): BCM94360HMB One more question: Dortania's guide said the BCM94360HMB needs some kexts to fully working. However, this Tonymac's guide and few other people said it is natively supported in macOS. Which is correct? Did anyone manage to get Handoff/Instant wifi/University Clipboard work with on this card? https://previe...

Laptop Specs: MODEL: MSI GF63 9SC CPU: CORE I5 9300H RAM: 16GB GPU: GTX 1650(DISABLED) STORAGE: CRUCIAL BX500 480GB So I just installed catalina on my laptop and the installation went smoothly. When i first booted into macOS, I wanted to mount the EFI to my macOS drive but i couldn't find my USB storage device in finder. I plugged the usb stick into all the 3 ports and none of them seems to be working. I had the "USBinject all" kext in the kext filder of my usb install drive. Now i can't mount the EFI to my SSD since i can't find my usb drive. Anyone knows how to fix this? submitted by /u/nithin_007 [link] [comments] [► Source]
Vanilla Clover Install of Catalina Fails (AppleUSBXHCI and AppleBusPowerController)

I am looking for assistance with my Vanilla Clover install of Catalina. I am able to make it 70% through the Apple logo loader screen. I end up with "AppleUSBXHCI::interruptOccurred" and "AppleBusPowerController: AppleBusPowerController::requestStaticServicePowerLocked: power supply unavailable, assuming successful power for HS08 of 500 mWWakePower and 0 mWSleepPower". Much of the text ends up garbled. I am using Clover 5122 along with Clover Configurator. The Clover folder contains: [ACPI>Patched: SSDT-EC.aml] [Drivers>UEFI>: ApfsDriverLoader.efi, AptioMemoryFix.efi, AudioDxe.efi, DataHubDxe.efi, FSInject.efi, HFSPlus.efi, PartitionDxe.efi, VBoxHfs.efi] [kexts>Other: AppleALC.kext, FakeSMC.kext, Lilu.kext, USBInjectAll.kext, WhateverGreen.kext] The system identifier is set to iMac19,1. Ive tried for a solid week to find a good build and I found 1 for my hardware. Ive only done this because the school my kid goes to makes the students use iPads, and i dont know Jack about apple so I figured why not learn, right?! Is it worth it updating to Big Sur from Catalina?
Image
Hi I'm running a lenovo t580 hackintosh on Catalina with opencore 0.6.5, I've read that certain kexts and solutions don't work/are broken when you update to Big Sur. I want to know if its worth updating to Big Sur and going through any problems that occur as I spent a while perfecting my current build as much as possible and its been stable ever since I've installed Catalina in the first place. Sorry if this questions seems dumb as I know some documentation has been released but I know every build experiences its own issues and I wanted to ask those who have already updated. Thanks in advance! submitted by /u/patwolo [link] [comments] [► Source]
