Hey everyone, I'll be upgrading my GPU soon and wanted to know if there's anything I should change before doing so?

I'm using OpenCore

I have this issue. I have MSI RX Vega 56 8GB, it is a native Apple GPU also to Hackintosh too. But I was testing it and, I don’t know, I think when the vram is full. The GPU could enter in to the stress and the fans start to the max speed. The display is shutdown.

Anyone had this fail too?

TLDR;

Context: - Had a working hack in March this year (Monterey, OC 0.9.0 or 0.9.1), was in the final stages of signing OC and putting the keys into the BIOS but had to put it aside to concentrate on uni for a few months using Windows only.

Fast forward to now, I have time off and wanted to update OC and resign the keys before putting them into the firmware. So I grabbed OC 0.9.4 debug and went about replacing the OC files in a copy of my EFI on a flash drive. I also updated my kexts using Lilu and Friends, then finally did a snapshot of the OC folder for the config.plist. I booted from USB, there were no issues, so I replaced the EFI on my boot drive (kept a backup of the working EFI before doing so).

Problem: - On boot, the GUI and boot chime were absent. OC vanished from the BIOS boot priority menu. The default sound output in macOS reset to headphones rather than internal speakers. The debug file output has ceased despite all debug configs being left in place. Verbose boot output indicates 2/4 drivers are being found (previous logs from working EFI show all 4 drivers being picked up by OC on boot). I tried rolling back to my known working EFI. This did not fix any of the issues (completely removed the EFI contents and replaced with the known working EFI).

Resolution/troubleshooting attempts: - double checked the GUI, audio, debug and picker configs in the plist; all were fine - double checked all OC files used were from the same OC model; all from 0.9.4 debug - double checked all resource files were up to date; all from June 23 - updated Propertree and redid the snapshot; did not help - double checked snapshot had correctly selected drivers and kexts; they were all correctly placed and configured - double checked EFI file structure; all correct - restored older known working EFI onto boot drive; issues persisted despite problematic EFI being completely erased first - reattempted booting from USB (with newer OC 0.9.4); all GUI, chimes and sound working perfectly from USB. This was true for the older EFI (0.9.1 I think) as well

Conclusions: - OC 0.9.4 is not the problem as restoring to working EFI based on OC 0.9.1 did not resolve the issues. This suggests to me something related to the drive itself, perhaps the EFI partition, particularly since the USB did not encounter the same problems. - OC configs appear to not be applied during start up despite being present e.g. No debug files are being generated. Therefore, either something is preventing OC configs from executing correctly or Windows has gotten its grubby bits into the EFI partition during its last update

Point of the post: - Any suggestions on what to try next to troubleshoot? It's difficult when I can't get OC to generate debug files!

My computer which is an Intel Zeros computer was originally running Windows 10. I added the Clover system to my PC around early 2019 and it has been running fine however now Clover does not show either Hackintosh or Windows. This is a first for me as last time Clover did not work properly Windows was still showing and only the Hackintosh did not show because a hard drive failed.

Just curious if anyone has installed Sonoma on the 15” 2016 MacBook Pro and what your experience has been? Other than the issue with the T1 chip, is anything else major broken still?

Also since it’s looking like the T1 issue likely won’t be fully fixed soon, if ever. Is there anything that should be disabled prior to updating from Ventura to avoid getting looked out of anything?

I have a gaming laptop running Windows on a 512GB M.2 SSD. I'd like to add a SATA SSD to run MacOS, while keeping my current Windows setup intact for gaming.

There's a detailed GitHub guide available for Hackintoshing my laptop model, but it's geared towards installing MacOS on the main drive.

Can anyone guide me on how to adapt the GitHub instructions for a dual-boot setup on two separate drives? Ideally, I'd also like to create a shared data partition between both Windows and MacOS.

I use the Kabylake EFI and booted Ventura but when I use my Skylake EFI (I built by myself) it will get stuck at the Apple logo or gives the prohibited sign( sign fixed by changing SMBIOS). I was wondering if it needs an iGPU patch (spoof to kabylake) to boot?

I just rebooted my hackintosh and I noticed it was stuck at the lenovo logo for a long time and then the laptop went into bios and doesn’t show the OC option. I removed to SSD and put it in an external SATA to USB and it shows as uninitialised and same thing in macOS Recovery. How can this happen ? It was so random.

What program do you use on macOS to write to NTFS drive?

I use Tuxera but it's a lot slower than in native Windows. I dual boot and I have one 2TB HDD for both systems to store downloads, documents, games and stuff.

I Have recently been trying to install mac os catalina on my Asus UX433FA, but i have a problem

which is that when im going to install it gives me the option of intalling the os, partitioning the disks, etc... but when i go to install the os it says that i need an internet connection. But it never asked me for a wifi network. I Tried connecting it via terminal but i couldn't do it. Anyone knows how to fix it? Thanks.

Well, how do I upgrade MacOS only, OC only or both?

I always get a black screen (monitor shuts off) after the initial text phase where i think it tries to boot the graphical installer. I think this is because it wants to switch back to the iGPU and disables the Nvidia GPU.

I have gone through the WhateverGreen Shiki and Geforce FAQ without success. (It tells me to rename GFX0 to IGPU but how do i do this?)

I‘m using BigSur with shikigva set to 40 and the iMac15,1 SMBios.

Hello, so I'm trying to install High Sierra on Sandy Bridge CPU with intel hd graphics 2000 when I boot from my usb with opencore the select menu works and it actually boots into the loading menu of High Sierra the problem is when the bar is about to finish the top part of the screen is glitching and stays like that the problem is I booted the EFI file with Catalina and it works same with Mojave but I want something lighter

How to clone my Ventura hackintosh install (for backup) when it's already encrypted ? Do i have to decrypt everytime i have to run a backup, and then re-encrypt the clone drive manually ?

I tried just cloning it with SuperDuper, but the clone drive was not encrypted and i had to boot in it and activate Filevault manually.

Is there a way to clone an encrypted drive and have the clone drive automatically encrypted with the exact same key as the my main drive ? (both SSD are the same 240gb kingstone A400 model)

I managed to boot the recovery installer with Dortiana's guide but installing Ventura needs an 11GB download which is impossible with my current net. I was thinking if there was a way to download only the InstallAssistant.pkg using some faster internet then installing it somehow, similar to how you copy BaseSystem.dmg to com.recovery.apple directory and running the installer offline
