Identifying Motherboard Chipset in Lenovo T480
Image
Identifying the motherboard chipset for your Lenovo T480 is an essential step in setting up a Hackintosh using the iATKOS Project. Based on the information you provided, the component you found in Device Manager, "Mobile 7th/8th Generation Intel(R) Processor Family I/O LPC Controller (U with iHDCP2.2 Premium) - 9D4E," is indeed related to the chipset, but it doesn't explicitly state the chipset model. Your Lenovo T480, equipped with an Intel i5-8250U CPU, typically uses an Intel chipset from the 8th Generation family. The most common chipset for this family in laptops is the Intel U-Series, which is designed for power efficiency and integrated graphics performance, matching your CPU and GPU configuration. Audience: Beginner to Intermediate 1. Check System Information:    - On your Lenovo T480, open the `System Information` app in Windows.    - Navigate to the `System Summary` section. 2. Find Chipset Information:    - Look for entries under `Motherboard` or...
Best motherboard for ryzen 5 3600?

My computer went to shit and started boot looping after I moved everything into my new case, and the shop I took it too said it was most likely my motherboard or cpu (they didnt have any AMD parts to test either on which I thought was strange but whatever) and from what I’ve experienced it’s most likely my motherboard so I need to find a new one that’s preferably matx. Any recommendations that won’t fail on me after two months of use? PC not booting :-(
Image
I'm brand new to PC building and just created my first build, but it's not booting up properly (details below). Here are the parts: CPU: Ryzen 5 3600 Motherboard: Aorus b450m RAM: 8g GPU: GTX 1650 3 fans Case: phantex eclipse p350x case PSU: 600w The issue is that it does not turn on my monitor. The cpu cooler fan starts spinning and then stops. The motherboard troubleshooting indicator (red LED lights) show that it is a cpu problem. It initially worked when I had a Gigabyte GA-A320M motherboard, but I wanted to have more than two fans and I did not know I could just buy a splitter. So I got a new motherboard that supported more than two fans. Everytime I wanted to turn on my computer, I would have to turn off the computer and the power supply switch. I turned both back on and my monitor wouldn’t work and the CPU red led light was on. I repeated this process twice, sometimes three times, and then it would finally turn on and everything was running smoothly until I put it o...

Is it worth upgrading my CPU?
Image
I'm currently running an i7 8700 running on a z370 motherboard, and I've been thinking about upgrading to a 10700k (and getting a z490 board to run it, of course). However I've been wondering if it's worth spending the extra money to get the 10700k. My other components include a 1070ti, 16gb of 2400mhz ram (planning on upgrading this), and a 550w psu (probably going to upgrade this as well). I primarily use my pc for gaming. submitted by /u/flarexe [link] [comments] [► Source]

Ryzen 5 1600, B350 motherboard, GTX1080 - ok for hackintosh?

Basically, I have no clue about mac OS but there is a software I would like to run on an ipad and would like to sync/use the same app on my desktop. Problem is the software is not available on PC, so I am thinking I should do a dual boot with win 10/mac OS. submitted by /u/IceHypothalamus [link] [comments] [► Source]
Random wakeups
Image
My Hackintosh is waking up semi-randomly, at ~2 hour intervals, on its own, before going back to sleep after a minute or two. Although the monitor is off all the time. I checked the log and saw a bunch of entries like this one: ```  ~$ log show --last 1d --style syslog | fgrep "Wake reason" 2021-03-08 19:12:11.733635-0800 localhost kernel[0]: (AppleACPIPlatform) AppleACPIPlatformPower Wake reason: RTC (Alarm) ``` In energy saver settings, "Wake for network access" and "power nap" are both disabled. In sharing settings, everything is ticked off. Any other suspects you can think of? Thanks. REQ: OC Troubleshooting Suggestions for Sandy Bridge/High Sierra Install
Image
I've come across this error before, on a different Sandy Bridge build that I tried to install High Sierra 10.13.6 on using OpenCore. I'm certain it's an OpenCore issue, because after having no success solving it on that box, I gave up, deleted the entire OpenCore EFI on my USB stick, installed Clover to the EFI instead, and the High Sierra/Sandy Bridge install went from start to finish without any drama -- or this error message: https://preview.redd.it/if9r022b63m61.jpg?width=660&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=49290ebfa4b364fb51beef5d9dcfe0445a0c6aac I imagine I can install High Sierra on this box using Clover once again, but I want to do an OpenCore Sandy Bridge build this time. CASE: Mini-Box m350 • MOBO: AsRock H67M-ITX • CPU: i3-2125 • OC version: 0.6.6 • Kexts: RealtekRTL8111-V2.2.2; AppleALC; VirtualSMC; Lilu; WhateverGreen; USBInjectAll (per Dortania Guide, which says it's needed because "AsRock is dumb"); XHCI-Unsupported; BIOS: v.2.10...

HELP A NOOB PLEASE

Hey guys, first I wanna say that I’m a total noob about this and I need some help.I’d like to do a hackintosh on my current laptop,I’d prefer to install macos in dual boot with windows,my specs are: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-9750H CPU 2.60 GHz 16GB Ram DDR4 Motherboard: MS-16W1 PCI-Express 3.0 Gtx 1660 ti 6gb Ssd 512 gb I have some questions to ask first. 1)I noticed after some researches that high sierra would be the last os that supports my graphic card and since I wanna work with macos I definitely need the gpu working at its best,so is it high sierra the maximum or is there some way I can get it working on catalina or big sur? 2)Next question is,will everything on the windows side be lost,I heard u must install macos first and then install windows again,is there a way to keep windows on it’s own without damaging any of it’s content and installing a fully working macos througha partition? 3)Last thing I wanna say is that I don’t have access to the ethernet cable so I could only do this w...

Did I just find a Hackintosh?!
Image
TL;DR; The Trash fairy bought me a computer. Take a look at the photos and parts list below and tell me if it can be Hackintoshed, AND if it's worth building a system around it, or parts of it at least. :) --- So... I was taking out the trash yesterday, and sitting right there next to the bins in my complex... a gaming PC!... Sort of. The guts of it were stripped out, but it has a Case, Motherboard, Power Supply, Fans, A bunch of cabling, and even RGB strip lighting. The guy's obviously building something else, so I'm guessing something in here is incompatible with his plans? I have been thinking of building a Hackintosh for a while now (For video editing and gaming as a side benefit), and I hope I have the building blocks for a good system here. Since I have never built a PC let alone a Hackintosh, I don't really know what I'm doing, so here are some pics. Tell me what I have here, and if I got lucky, or not. https://imgur.com/a/dsHBlZF What I (Sort of) Know...

Gigabyte Aorus Pro Z390 USB's Stop Working

Lenovo ThinkPad L13 Yoga 10th Gen i5 - OC-0.6.7

Hi everyone, I'm excited to post this success. I had tried to install Big Sur before on this laptop but failed. Apparently an issue with booting was resolved in the latest OpenCore 0.6.7. I followed the Dortania guide and managed to get most things working. I borrowed a SSDT file from hagenest's repo to get the battery working. The most interesting part of this build was the USB mapping. I needed to add in the SSDT-RHUB.aml file from the guide before the internal USB ports would show up (cameras, touch screen, bluetooth). It took a while to figure that out. Other then that is was a straightforward following of the guide. g ithub repository Hardware: CPU: Intel Core i5-10210U GPU: Intel UHD RAM: 8GB / 2666MHz DDR4 Motherboard/Laptop Make and Model: Lenovo ThinkPad L13 Yoga Audio Codec: CX8070 Ethernet Card: Intel ethernet Wifi/BT Card: Intel Wireless-AC 9560 Touchpad and touch display devices: BIOS revision: 1.25 Working: Keyboard, trackpad, trackpoint, sound, m...

How I Got UHD 630 Acceleration Working on Big Sur/i5-10400/Z490M
Image
Had an unused mATX case around and was intrigued by the new 10-series Intel CPU and chipset, so I took a stab at a modestly-priced Big Sur build. This isn't my everyday box, but it's up and working now, and iGPU UHD 630 graphics acceleration is working, thanks in large part to headkaze 's handy Hackintool . First, here are the build specs: Case: CoolerMaster N200 mATX Mini-Tower • CPU: Intel i5-10400 (using iGPU UHD 630 graphics) • Mobo: Asus PRIME Z490M-PLUS • RAM: 2x16GB GSKILL Ripjaws DDR4-3200 • HD: WD_BLACK NVMe SSD 500GB • PSU: Seasonic FOCUS GM-650 • macOS: Big Sur 11.2.2 • Boot Manager: OpenCore v.0.6.6 • Network: Intel I219V (using Ethernet only) • Audio: RealTek ALC887 (boot-arg alcid=1 ) NOTE: Display doesn't wake from sleep unless boot-arg igfxonln=1 is included in config.plist . Install from Big Sur USB stick went without a hitch, but UHD 630 graphics acceleration wasn't working. I studied a few reddits on the issue, like this one and this one , b...
