LG WH16NS60 not showing up in macOS Catalina.
Image
I got Catalina 10.15.4 (19E266) up and running with OC 0.5.6. Everything is working except my LG WH16NS40, flashed as a WH16NS60, does not show up under macOS. It shows up in the BIOS and works under Windows but nothing in macOS. Am I missing a kext or something? I've tried different physical SATA ports and nothing. Maybe trying MacPro7,1 SMBIOS? Here's a link with System Information and other info if needed and lastly here is my EFI . Ryzen Build Question - Quicksync / Hardware Video with AMD build?
Image
Hello Im a Mac dev, curious about building an AMD based Hackintosh. I've build an i7 Hackintosh a few years ago and had Intels Quicksync hardware video decode working. Does anyone know if AMD has a similar feature and if API's like VideoToolbox or AVFoundation can target the hardware decoder on a Ryzen based Hackintosh? Similarly, on 10.15, VideoToolbox can even point to GPU decoders - using APIs like kVTVideoEncoderSpecification_RequiredEncoderGPURegistryID and friends. Does anyone know if those APIs work with say a Radeon VII or two installed? I'm looking to make a decent Mac Pro alternative with AMD, but need pro video and pro video development features to work. PSA: Having issues installing Catalina?
Image
What if I were to tell you, that you can safely install and use Mojave 10.14.6 with Clover (as long as you are not using AMD Radeon 5700/5700XT). Not only is it more prominent with more successful installs than Catalina, but you get the added goodness of 32 bit apps and kexts still working... Apart from the already mentioned 5700/5700XT, there is no compelling reason to update (unless you want to learn OpenCore from scratch, and that is NOT EASY). Anyways, thought you could all use that information... you can still download latest Mojave using macadmin-scripts from GitHub... or any other number of download methods. Remember if you are using makeinstallmedia method of creating USB, remember to use --downloadassets flag Best of luck! submitted by /u/themacmeister [link] [comments] [► Source]

I'm currently having a few issues with sleep.. First is that the system doesn't sleep when idle. Second, when I command sleep, it "sleeps" for merely a second, then powers back up. When it does power back up, my monitor displays a blank screen.. If I click buttons on my keyboard, I hear the "Funk" noise, meaning the OS is alive and not hung up.. I have to power cycle or unplug and plug back in my monitor to see the OS again.. Not sure where the issue lies.. I have mapped my USBs using SSDT-UAIC .aml and my GTX 1080 disabled, yet the issue exists.. Help with ACPI files for dual boot
Image
Hello fellow hackintosh experts! I recently just got my first OpenCore hack up and running on Catalina 10.14.4. I had used and still am using clover on my other system, so I am very new to OpenCore. With this system (ASUS Maximus XI, i9-9900k, iGPU (GTX1080 disabled), 32GB RAM) I need to dual boot, which is what least me to ask you guys for help. Again, I’m very new to OpenCore which seems to heavily rely on ACPI files, as compared to clover. As stated on the OpenCore vanilla guide: “ACPI patches and SSDTs are applied to all operating systems. Adjust your SSDTs with If (_OSI ("Darwin")) {} or use rEFind in conjunction with OpenCore.” At the moment I’m using only the provided SSDTs within the coffee lake section of the vanilla guide plus my SSDT-UIAC for usb. I do see that some of the provided SSDTs already have the If (_OSI ("Darwin")), but some don’t. For the ones that don’t, do I need to add that? And do I need to add it to my SSDT-UIAC? And if so, where in the...
a couple of questions on apple id

Hi, i’ve read some posts about many problems hackintosh user have with apple id. The main reason why i’m thinking about an hackintosh is to have some continuity with my iPhone (iCloud drive, airpods and iCloud photos), so i need my primary Apple ID. I don’t care about FaceTime or iMessage. Is it safe to use for these services? What’s happening to my Apple ID if i’ve got blacklisted or banned? Will it still works on my iPhone? Prioritizing CPU vs GPU for video editing with FCPX ???
Image
I'm planning on a hackintosh build. I keep my systems for a long time, so my current hack is pushing 4+ years old. Stability and Longevity is a goal. My needs are for video editing with Final Cut Pro X, as well as regular daily desktop use. (I edit 10-15minute videos for youtube weekly, I do NOT do 4K) My current system is an i5-4690 with a Sapphire Pulse RX560 (4GB). So as I've been doing my reading here, I came across a few comments threads that stated that Final Cut uses CPU more than the GPU. Specifically, FCPX would benefit from more cores/threads in the CPU. Is that so? So would I be better off with a core i7-9700k paired with a more modest RX580 card versus a core i5-9600k paired with a RX5700 (Or even Radeon Vega 56 or Vega 64) ??? thanks submitted by /u/wordsnwood [link] [comments] [► Source]

Can't figure out how to switch to UEFI boot mode?
Image
Hello everyone. I am using a Toshiba Satellite M840-A764, Windows 10 Pro. BIOS is Insyde Software version 1.50. I'm trying to change my boot mode from Legacy to UEFI but I'm not sure if it is even supported or if I'm doing something wrong. According to HWiNFO, my motherboard is UEFI capable, but when I enter BIOS setup, there is no option to change to UEFI. There's not even an option to disable Secure Boot or anything like that. HWiNFO Screenshots: 1 2 3 MSInfo32 Screenshot: 1 BIOS Setup options: 1 2 3 4 5 6 For the record, I converted my disk from MBR to GPT, and upon restarting, there still wasn't any option to change to UEFI boot mode (I got locked out and had to reinstall Windows lol) Does that just mean that my motherboard doesn't support UEFI and HWiNFO is wrong? Or do I need to update my BIOS? Or am I doing something wrong? Thank you! submitted by /u/RandomTaco123 [link] [comments] [► Source]

Clover not showing any boot devices

Hi! I was just trying to set up my first serious hackintosh build. After following the Vanilla guide, I got stuck here, whenever I boot from the created USB(with “Install macOS Mojave” and clover installed and configured), it would not show any boot options in Clover whenever I boot up the machine. The USB was created on a 2012 Mac Mini running Mojave. Things I have tried: I tried using the stock config.plist and the one in the desktop guide for Coffee Lake but the same issue. I tried different USB sticks and USB ports on my motherboard, same issue. I tried a USB 2.0 stick, still nothing(took an eternity to set up :( ) All the hardware were pulled from a previously perfectly functional Windows machine so I can guarantee that the hardware all work fine. Is there anything else I missed? Would love to hear from others who know more.Thx! Testing OpenCore on hackintosh currently running Clover
Image
If I would like to test OpenCore to make sure all my settings are good and there are no issues, can I just create a bootable USB drive as I would with a Clover backup USB drive, and just replace the files with OpenCore ones and then tinker with it? Ideally I would be able to just select that USB drive to boot from and make adjustments and if I have to stop for whatever reason or can't get something working perfectly as it does with Clover right now; I should just be able to remove the USB drive and go back to Clover bootloader for now.... roight? submitted by /u/careless__ [link] [comments] [► Source]

Nuked my bluetooth and not sure how to get it back
Image
Hello hackintoshers. I have my hackintosh (desktop) set up with a bcm94360cs2 card attached to an adapter . It was unreliable at best, especially with regards to audio. Instead of researching solutions in the hackintosh world (I think there's a kext that may have fixed it) I made the mistake of searching how to reset the module, following the instructions here . After restarting, my bluetooth is dead. Just says "Bluetooth: Not available". But I know it works because I can use my Magic Keyboard in Clover, it just dies as soon as the actual OS boots. Also, the adapter is being recognized because I still have WiFi available, so I only nuked bluetooth. I have been searching for different solutions, played with some kexts, deleted some plists, but am currently at a loss. Hoping somebody looks at this and is like "oh I totally know what's going on here". Thanks in advance. submitted by /u/jaradi [link] [comments] [► Source]
