Best portable USB keyboard/mouse remote for Hack?
Image
I'm using official Apple Wireless Keyboard and Mouse with my dual boot (Windows 10/MacOS) Hack, and sometimes after syncing them with another machine and switching back, the keyboard and mouse aren't synced on boot, and I have to pull out my full sized USB keyboard and mouse to reconnect them. What mini USB keyboard and mouse would you folks recommend to get for this kind of scenario? I was thinking of getting one of these off of Amazon. I don't know about the compatibility though. submitted by /u/libertarianets [link] [comments] [► Source]

Latitude 7404 Rugged Extreme - graphics acceleration help?
Image
So I'm trying to install Catalina on a Dell Latitude 7404 Rugged Extreme laptop, with an Intel Core i5-4300U with HD 4400 graphics. Followed the Vanilla installed guide and everything installed just fine. I have to override the graphics ID (within Clover) to 0x12345678 for the system to boot, though. I'm again able to get into macOS by overriding the ID again, but it seems that would disable graphics acceleration completely. I've searched around and (I think) tried almost every solution posted. WhateverGreen + Lilu , FakePCIID + FakePCIID_Intel_HD_Graphics , even IntelGraphicsFixup . Tried both enabling and disabling IntelGFX injection also - that doesn't seem to do anything. Now the system will get stuck at ioconsoleusers: gioscreenlockstate 3, hs 0, bs 0, now 0, sm 0x0 on boot. This is on the laptop's internal screen. Connecting a HDMI cable while it's stuck in this stage resulted in garbled images appearing on the internal screen but not the HDMI monit...
Circle-cross icon when trying to install OSX 10.14 on ASUS X53-SV
Image
So, using Clover Bootdisk Creator I flashed OS X 10.14 and Clover to my usb, and it boots into Clover fine, seemingly without using UEFI mode. The laptop itself has Nvidia Optimus 520m, and of course integrated Intel graphics. When booting the MacOS install from clover, (with the boot argument -no_compat_check), after a few seconds I get a Cross-circle icon in the center, and nothing happens after that. Is there any way I can get past this and install MacOS? submitted by /u/Blocky-Boi [link] [comments] [► Source]

Sudden shutdowns at login screen or when typing on Spotlight
Image
Im going crazy with this problem already, my laptop: a Xiaomi Mi Notebook pro with i7-8550u and Samsung NVME 960 EVO is shutting down randomly at almost 50% of battery. A workaround for me is to open up my laptop and remove the battery to completely discharge the laptop and it does work for a lot of time but after a while it is happening again. It only happens while using battery, never happens if the charger is connected. Could it be because of the drive (shutting down at login, at opening Spotlight or opening chrome sometimes)? This has happened to me with a Macbook and the solution was to reset NVRAM, but there is no NVRAM on a hackintosh... Help needed making sense of how to configure USB ports in Opencore on AMD Aorus pro X570

Managed to successfully install Catalina on my ryzen 3900x. I have the USB ports not being recognised. So I did try to read the trouble shooting guide to mapping the ports manually. To be honest I found it rather confusing. Is there anyone out there that could point to a clear guide for beginners or help me through the process with some helpful pointers. Storage solution for dual booting in z390 hack
Image
Hey guys, So I've been running my dual boot win10/Mojave build for a year now, using a z390 Designare mobo. My storage setup currently consists of: 2 m.2 nvme's (one for each os) 4 sata HDD's in the remaining internal connections (mobo has 6 sata ports but disables 2 of them when you set it up to use 2 m.2 ssd's) 1 pcie sata expansion card for the remaining hdd Bear in mind that apart from the main os drives that have no need for communication/file transfer between them, I work on stuff that is cross-platform a lot of times, so I have to open the same projects from both win10 and macOS. So I've opted to keep my storage drives as NTFS so windows can access them natively and have been using NTFS for Mac to be able to write to them from the mac side. Currently it's really not an ideal solution for a few reasons I cannot get macOS to recognize the hdd connected to the pcie expansion card, so I've been having to use that for non-essential storage (yes t...

Help With x58 High Sierra Build
Image
I have successfully installed Catalina on my PC but it runs very laggy due to issues with video card drivers. So I'm moving to High Sierra so I can use my GTX1050TI card. It just hangs for hours and hours. I've tried re-downloading a clean copy of High Sierra but no dice. I've tried following the Vanilla Guide in this subreddit but I suppose I'm missing something either in the actual process or my hardware is too weird. Clover Boot Manager loads. I select Boot macOS Install from Install macOS High Sierra. I get to a black screen with a white apple logo. The loading bar appears, fills all the way, and then my PC reboots. Hackintosh Catalina - Slow Extracting Zip Files
Image
I upgraded from Mojave to Catalina over the weekend. I don't game on this machine and don't have the most powerful internals: i3 8100 CPU 16gb 2133MHz DDR4 RAM 4GB RX570 Overall performance is snappy. No issues running multiple apps or any of the typical post upgrade Hackintosh headaches (full onboard audio and GPU support). The one thing that's been really strange: extracting zip files is extremely slow. As an example unzipping 1.55gb archive took over a minute to complete. On top of that, if I try to open files or apps while extracting, they take forever and also cause the extraction to slow down. The second the extraction is done, everything's back to normal. I'm at a bit of a loss -- has anyone seen this before? All my kexts are up to date, my SSD is about 2 years old but seems fine, my Geekbench scores are consistent with others that have similar hardware, and I believe my Vanilla install to be pretty clean; no extra kexts, boot is smooth etc...

Any benefits upgrading to Coffee Lake from Haswell for a non-production box?
Image
Hello Reddit, My current Hackintosh is a vanilla Mojave i7-4770K/z87 motherboard/16GB RAM/RX 480 GPU/1TB SSD (triple partitions for Win10 and Ubuntu 19.10), which is working fairly well (video acceleration, sleep, audio, network, etc). I have installed a compatible WiFi/Bluetooth adapter so it communicates well with my iPad 6th gen. I know Coffee Lake Macs support the new Sidecar feature (using an iPad as a secondary monitor), but apart from that, the faster DDR4 RAM, and the higher core/thread counts if I go big enough, is there any real benefit in upgrading? I don't use the Hackintosh for production purposes, I work support in a mostly Windows shop. I know there are plenty of Sidecar alternatives that will work with my Haswell Hackintosh so that is not a killer requirement (I have 9 monitors connected to my main battlestation so I *REALLY* don't care about Sidecar other than as a curiosity). The Hackintosh is not my main battlestation at home so if I blow it up it doesn...
First time (outside of a KVM), is my hardware compatible for hackintosh?
Image
I've been using Mojave in a KVM for a while and I want to make the dream real. My desktop has this hardware: Motherboard: GA-Z97X-UD3H-BK CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K GPU: GeForce GTX 970 I'm looking to install Mojave or higher, I know my GPU isn't compatible but I only want to hackintosh for developing so no need for it. Will macOS allow my integrated graphics to run the show? I wasn't able to find anything conclusive on if it is supported or not, or if it is any kexts to allow it. Sorry if it's a silly question but I wanted to make sure as I was planning on buying another SSD just for macOS. submitted by /u/Afellownoscoper [link] [comments] [► Source]

Need help with OpenCore on new Ryzen 5 build
Image
Hey everyone. Apologize if the question has been asked millions of times. I've searched everywhere no luck. My current setup is: Ryzen 5 3600X Gigabyte x570 Aorus Elite Gigabyte 5500 XT 16GB ram I'm trying to get a fresh install of Catalina using the AMD Vanilla guide and I'm going to be honest, having big trouble with Open Core. It is mainly the config.plist and the SDSTs. I found an EFI ( https://forum.amd-osx.com/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=9805 ) folder that has a relatively similar setup to mine and that is what I've been trying to boot it up with. Sadly, no luck. I get stuck at a black screen with an underscore flashing over and over. The bootflag, agdpmod=pikera, is in the config.plist, but besides that, I'm at a loss. Would appreciate any help. I'm trying to learn how to configure OpenCore properly, but I think I am just not absorbing the info properly. Definitely took UniBeast and Clover for granted. submitted by /u/ihavepaper [link] [commen...

Why does Windows 10 feel the need to run a disk check every time I reboot into it from MacOS on my dual boot machine?
Image
I have a hard drive with Windows 10 on it and a hard drive with macOS on it on the same machine, but whenever I have been running macOS and then shut down the computer and boot into Windows 10 via Clover, Windows 10 always thinks that something is wrong with the hard drive and demands to run a disk check/repair before putting into windows which wastes my precious time. Hello, it me again :-| So i have tried just about everything under the sun to get my battery to stop draining so fast. Frustrated to death! Can't get my first Hackintosh to run properly!

Hi. I'm a new user here. I tried once 2 years ago to install a Hackintosh without success, got back to it this time and at least I got it installed! But I'm running into a couple of nerve breaking issues. I'm hoping that someone from the community could help me out! I cannot boot from the SSD. Whenever I turn on my PC and just let it run without selecting the boot device with F12, I'm presented with an underscoring blinking "_" that just doesn't go away. It never launches into Mac. I can't get it working properly after injecting Nvidia drivers. I also tried to download the alternative drivers but can't find any for my mac version 10.3.6 (17G66). Is there a way to do this? Are XFX Radeon VII cards good for Hackintosh?
Image
Reading the GPU Buyer's Guide , I see XFX listed as brand to avoid. But the guide doesn't make clear if this is only for the Vega series cards, or if it includes the XFX version of the Radeon VII as well. Since the Radeon VII is EOL, they're now hard to find, but XFX cards are still available new from Best Buy and apparently when purchased at Best Buy come with a lifetime warranty. They even allow modified cooling solutions under warranty. This is appealing and would be a lot easier than trying to get a deal on eBay. The question is do these cards actually work with Hackintosh? Anyone have any experienced with XFX Radeon VII? Any advice much appreciated. Thanks! submitted by /u/davidhlawrence [link] [comments] [► Source]
