Weird shutdown behavior?! macOS 10.15.3
Image
Hey guys, So I'm running my second Hackintosh build and I'm about to fix the last minor issues that keep me away from calling it a golden build. Normally, when you shutdown your Mac/Hackintosh the display turns black and you'll get that loading wheel until it completely turns off... But I'm getting something different, my system freezes once the dock has slided down halfway & shuts off after a few seconds... Does anyone have an idea what the cause could be? Highly appreciate any help! submitted by /u/princerafael [link] [comments] [► Source]

Unsolvable boot error
Image
I previously had a flawless hackintosh build for the last 5 months or so. I upgraded my GPU to a 5700xt the other day so I decided I would do a fresh install of catalina. Ive tried with opencore at first but have gone back to clover because I am more familiar with it. My CPU is a 6700k and my motherboard is an AsRock z170m Pro4s. I have attached a shot of the error as well as my current efi. error: https://imgur.com/a/sLT1eqX efi: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1LiGZj6jZMHgXsS8lniAkjcWqeJqLhxsS/view?usp=sharing submitted by /u/mrchriswindsor [link] [comments] [► Source]

Dual boot: how to hide windows drive from mounting in macOS?

I had windows set up on my first SSD, then set up my hackintosh on a second SSD. Everything works great, except I noticed the Windows drive shows up in macOS as "untitled" - is there any way to hide it so its not visible in macOS? Troubles with wifi and graphics after installing rx580
Image
Hey all. Had a working mackintosh on Mojave 10.14.5 using only the iGPU, including wifi. Finally bought an rx580 and having troubles getting my wifi working again. In BIOS I changed it from internal to the rx580, and in my config I changed smbios from iMac18,1 to iMac18,3. Now when logging in, the wifi icon says there's no hardware installed, and I have artifacts on the screen randomly. I went back to iMac 18,1 and my wifi works. Back to 18,3, and it doesn't. My assumption is the graphics glitch will be solved by upgrading to 18,3 but not sure what else I need to get my wifi working. BCM94360CD / BCM94331CD is the whip I'm using. If anyone can point me in the right direction for 1 or both of these issues, I'd appreciate it. General specs: 8700k, BCM94360CD / BCM94331CD chip, Saphire Pulse RX580. submitted by /u/idleminer100 [link] [comments] [► Source]

How do I change network configurations?
Image
Hello everyone! In an effort to make iMessage work, I am trying to change my network configurations so that the interface I am using will be en0 and Builtin=yes as recommended on the "How to Fix iMessage" guide. I am using a jailbroken iPhone as a wireless adapter that shares my WiFi instead of my data because the DW1560 or others are too expensive currently. Every time I change the NetworkInterface.plist or the preferences.plist they go back to how they were on reboot. My iPhone readjusts to en2 instead of en0. Any way to fix this, or am I doing something completely wrong? submitted by /u/jkcoxson [link] [comments] [► Source]

I swapped my vega 56 air boost for a new one(same model) because the old one had some problem booting due to hardware problems. But I ran into this error even if I booted with my usb. Is this also a hardware issue? submitted by /u/hkisthebest [link] [comments] [► Source]

Why do so many of you install Catalina, knowing how ZERO older/32bit apps work on it? Why not Mojave?
Image
Is it the challenge? Are you not aware that no 32 bit apps work in that OS and it has literally zero backward compatibility? Genuinely curious why so many of you are choosing an OS with such limitations. Thanks! submitted by /u/therealduckie [link] [comments] [► Source]
Catalina and USB

Battery Protection Manager Software Port from Windows
Image
Hi, I would like to know where to exactly look into if I wanna use the Huawei Battery Protection Manager software that comes with Windows? Somehow after much testing, this software actually write something to the EC (if I’m not wrong) to not supply power to the battery and directly to the motherboard. If I were to boot into Windows first, and then restart into MacOS, the battery protection settings will stick. If I were to shut down Windows, with my power continue to be turned on till the next direct startup to MacOS, the settings will still stick. The only time when it won’t work is during a cold start directly into MacOS. Thus, I hope some pros can guide me on which part of it should I look into. SSDT or something related? How can I configure it in a way that the settings will kick in on cold boot of MacOS? submitted by /u/Orrpeesai [link] [comments] [► Source]

UHD630 Metal score 2x lower than OpenCl + hangs at FaceDetection
Image
When using GeekBench5 I have noticed that Metal score is 2 times Lowe than OpenCl, + when it tests FaceDetection algorithm the whole system hangs for 5-7 sec., then releases for 1-2 sec., and hangs again, this hellish loop continues for couple of minutes until FaceDetection test is finished. This does not happen on OpenCl. As suggested by u/fewtarius I have tried setting different AAPL,ig-platform-id . I've tried the recommended first, and then every other possible for UHD630, same story for every one of them. Z390 & i9-9900K with OpenCore or Clover - first timer
Image
I have a powerful custom PC that I'd like to convert into a Hackintosh. I recently installed a second Samsung NVMe card so that I can leave my primary storage alone with Windows 10 installed, in case I run into real problems in Hackintosh land. This will be my first Hackintosh. I watched SnazzyLabs video where he strongly recommends OpenCore over Clover, stating that it's the future, faster boot times, SIP support, etc. So I planned on going with OpenCore, but the more I read I keep seeing that if you're new to all this, stick with Clover. Additionally, it seems like there's not a lot of success with OpenCore and Z390 boards. So before i get started I wanted to this community your opinion on the matter. Here's my hardware: Gigabyte Z390 Xtreme i9-9900K 64GB HyperX Predator Black 3200MHz DDR4 memory Samsung 970 Pro 1TB NVMe Samsung 970 Pro 512GB NVMe (recently added for macOS) AMD Radeon VII & Nvidia 1080 Ti Hybrid (both installed and running, so I can ...

After 3 days of fixing my .plist and hardware setup I have it fully vanilla working with 8gb ram, and i5-4thgen, and a 256gb ssd. [GUIDE] How to create your own BIOS Splash Page with new custom Logo!

So I wanted to get this tutorial out in the wild because I think it’s simply too cool to keep under wraps. So upon inspecting some build EFI’s on GitHub I came across a linked tutorial that very easily teaches you how to replace your BIOS splash image for any modern motherboard. You know, the jenky looking motherboard manufacturers logo you see after/during POST… I translated it and tried it myself on my Asrock z390 board with success! **SEE WARNING BELOW** My OpenCore Boot Screen with Custom BIOS Logo - Artwork by lackoillustration.com WARNING: Do this at your own risk!!
