I’ve been looking around the internet the whole day yet the only answers I found were “How to tell if you’ve booted using UEFI or Legacy”. This is kind of unrelated but it’ll help me towards actually booting macOS. Does anyone know how to check if a motherboard supports UEFI booting. Hi, I recently had a small hackintosh project with my laptop and ran into a problem with unsupported wifi card. I want to get a usb dongle to start with but most of the dongles from the list on this subreddit can’t be bought in my country, have bad reviews, overpriced shipping from abroad or can’t be even found. Does anyone know any working usb dongle that would be supported in Catalina which is cheap and ideally can be bought on aliexpress (aliexpress because of cheap shipping fee and good prices). So, I'm still on Mojave; I had deferred the July 2020 update for quite a long time. My system was working perfectly with OpenCore 0.5.9: I've got a discrete GPU (RX570) but the iGPU (UHD 630) was enabled for internal computation use (quick look, etc). The iGPU appeared correctly in system report, along the dGPU, using SMBIOS iMac 19,1 Now it's not working anymore. I realized quick look would get stuck, and preview doesn't render JPGs anymore (gets stuck). Also, the systems seems to stumble every now and then (freezes with a WindowServer spin, and sometimes Firefox tabs crash without an apparent reason). UHD 630 doesn't appear anymore in my system profile, either. I have tried with various framebuffers (desktop, mobile, empty), and I tried upgrading to OpenCore 0.6.0, but I had no success. This is my first time setting up a Hackintosh and I used my old laptop ( HP 450 ) for it. I followed the original Dortania guide and I successfully installed it but I can't seem to run it without plugging in the USB stick that contains the installer. It basically shows me that: Legacy Mode enabled -> Can't find boot device Legacy Mode disabled -> Boot device not found. Please install an OS on your hard disk. I've already done this post-install guide where I'll mount the HDD's EFI using CorpNewt's MountEfi then copying all the contents of the USB stick's EFI folder into it. I already tried running the BootInstall.command on the partition that contains the HDD's EFI but it fails saying that I can't write on a read-only directory. Hey all. So my build is Z490 Asrock itx build. Not sure why, but it seems to freeze in the Big Sur installer but works fine in Catalina. Hi everyone! I'm trying to update from 10.15.4 to 10.15.6, which is required by Final Cut Pro 10.4.9. Before trying to update via System Preferences, I've manually downloaded and installed Clover 5121 over the previous 5107 install. Then I launch the update from System Preferences. The Apple progress bar appears for a few seconds, then the computer reboots, then Clover offers a new entry to boot from, "Boot Mac OS X Install for Macintosh HD - Donnǔes via Preboot". I select it and press enter, then I get an Error I'm unable to understand, with errors regarding GV wake-failure, AGU things or \\macOS Install Data\\Locked Files\\Boot Files\\prelinkedkernel. I'm French and in the Clover entries, "Donnǔes" is buggy, it should be "Données". Any suggestion? :) Thanks in advance! I am running a almost 100% stable hackintosh now in a Ghost S1. But I got a used Skyreach Mini S4 that I am moving to. So I need to step down a bit on CPU and GPU. My Current setup: Intel i7 8700k, 3.6GHz , overclocked to 4.8Ghz Asrock z390 Phantom Gaming ITX TB 32GHz DDR4, 3200MHz (2x16) Scythe Big Shuriken 2 rev.B (66mm height) Corsair SF600 psu 2 x Noctua NF-A12x15 top fans to pull air out In the Syreach Mini S4 I don't think it will handle 95W cpu and the cooler is too high. I will be using Noctua NH-L9i (37mm height) or NH-L9a-AM4 HDPLEX brickless 400W internal psu The big question I am asking is: Should I go for AMD or Intel? My choices are: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 (6-core) AMD Ryzen 7 3700x (8-core) Intel i7 10700 2.9GHz (8-core 65w) Intel i5 10400 3.3GHz (6-core 65w) I have done several hackintoshes, mostly Intel but also a AMD Ryzen 5 3600.
