Monterey 12.5 with Radeon 6600 XT
Image
hey , just installed a new Asus RX 6600 XT and it works fine, except slow initialisation on boot. it's a stable hack that had RX 570 in it, everything working after verbose, it's just black screen with 'display port' for maybe a minute, then it kicks in. if i disable IGPU it works straight away - no delay. i would like to keep the igpu for hevc 'videotoolbox' encoding. suppose i could live with this delay, or just enable igpu in bios when i need encoding bits. has anyone come across similar issue? thanks! https://preview.redd.it/2jwa7dq3o8d91.jpg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5465bc32cad35ee34ca32c91050498b9fac96b50 submitted by /u/Everybodies [link] [comments] [► Source]
Something up with Monterey security settings?

OpenCore bootloader (0.8.0), more hardware info at the bottom of the post. Whenever I download a file I try to open it and get this message. I sometimes get this message when I have renamed or edited a file I have created and try to open it. I can sort this by running xattr -cr on the file in termal, but it's not practical to have to do this on every file I download or edit. I am guessing there must be something wrong with my security settings, and I've tried to explore this in the OpenCore config but I am stuck. Does anyone have any suggestions of what this might be or what I should try? Setup: Monterey 12.3.1 OpenCore 0.8.0 Gigbyte Aorus Pro Z390 Intel 9900k Radeon RX580 8GB Fenvi T919 Wifi and Bluetooth Generic...

Big Sur won’t boot from installer USB while external (target) drive is connected.
Image
Hey all! I am trying to install Big Sur on my Asus ROG Zephyrus for the first time and I’m having a major issue. I have windows installed on my internal drive as it is my daily driver so I am trying to install macOS on an external drive. However, when trying to boot off of the USB I set up with OC 0.8.6, it will not boot properly. Without the drive connected, it will boot to the install macOS screen without a hitch. The drive will also never show as connected if I connect it after it has booted. Does anyone have any ideas as to what I can do to fix this? Apple Music Skipping Lossless Audio AirPods Pro **DRM and IGPU Issues**
Image
Hiya, I wonder if anyone can help me. I have an issue with my hackintosh where I can't play Lossless and or Atmos audio from Apple Music to my AirPods. Upon talking on discord this appears to be a DRM issue relating to the iGPU, disabling the iGPU in the bios fixes this. However, with the iGPU disabled I cannot see the other persons video stream in FaceTime. I just get a grey screen. Is there a way to get both working? UUID's
Image
Hello. So I recently got my hackintosh to work. I think I left out an important step though, testing to see if the UUID was taken. I generated all of that stuff like the serial etc. with genSMBIOS but forgot to check it. - Is there a way of changing it after the fact? How big of a deal is this? It seems like the odds are in my favor of being fine with my current UUID and serial, but I am just being thorough. Thanks! submitted by /u/FRZA45 [link] [comments] [► Source]

Do I need a clean install if I upgrade CPU and MOBO?
Image
Hi! I've recently upgraded to an i7 12700 and B 660m-a DDR4 mobo from an i5 8400 and Z370 pc pro mobo. I've asked a few questions here to update my EFI folder, I'm still trying some of the suggestions you guys gave me but I am having doubts over the way I'm going with this. My idea is to simply update the EFI folder for it to work with my new hardware and maintain all my data on my SSD. Will this be possible or do I need to do a complete reinstall of macOS Monterrey due to the hardware changes? I was running macOS Monterrey 12.4 before. Constant audio stuttering when playing videos in Firefox

I'm not too sure if this is just related to Firefox itself or Hackintosh but I've been getting constant audio stutters when playing videos such as YouTube in Firefox. App Store says Monterey can't be installed on my system
Image
Current build: MoBo: LGA1151 Intel Z170 Processor: Core i7 6700K RAM: 32GB DDR4 2400 GPU: GeForce GTX 980 Ti OS: Sierra 10.12.6 Title pretty much says it. I can get Monterey elsewhere, that's not the issue, I just need to know if it'll actually install and work on my current system. I think it will, I just want to confirm if I'm understanding this correctly. I suspect (and I hope) that this error message is erroneous and has something to do with my chosen system model in Clover. My current model set in Clover is iMac15,1, which corresponds to mid-2015. What I found on the web is that Monterey is compatible with LATE 2015 iMacs and later (16,1). Since I'm switching to OpenCore I'm assuming I'll be able to set a new system model ID that corresponds to a Monterey-compatible model. Can anybody confirm my thinking on this? It's a little urgent since I just ordered a 6600XT, which is only compatible with Monterey and up. submitted by /u/MScoutsDCI...

Is a Hackintosh a good idea for my Situation
Image
I work in Graphic Design for a medium sized Company and have to use Apple for work. The official company Mac that I got... works... but part of my job is to render Videos which takes forever, due to it's low RAM, etc. Instead of buying a very expensive Mac for myself, which will just gather dust if I change jobs, because I don't use Mac outside of work, I figured, I should try building a Hackintosh instead. Is this a good idea? If I'll mainly use it to Render Videos and Photoshop for large quality images that need a lot of power? The way I figured I'd do it, is by having a second hard drive, so I can work and play from the same computer, just by Booting from the other Drive. Techwise, I'm a novice, but my Partner is in IT uses Debian, so I am confident that we could figure out how to get it running, once I have resolved wether it's a good idea in the first place. + if you have recommendations for Hardware, that would also be welcome. GPU Issue. Freezes at loading text. [Monterey, z390, 97400k, RX 580 and 3070, Opencore]
Image
I originally had just a single GPU, an Nvidia 3070, and I got Monterey to boot and run, but only 1 monitor worked (as opposed to 3 working on my Windows 10 boot) and it had really poor FPS. So I heard that RX 580s were good for a hackintosh. So I got an MSI Radeon Armor RX 580 (4gb) and installed it. It works while booted in Windows 10 (alongside the 3070). But when I try to boot into Monterey (I didn't alter anything in my opencore files after installing the RX 580) it freezes at the white loading text on the black background. The lst line of text is talking about "IOUserUSBHostHIDDevice.cpp", but it doesn't look like any errors. It seems that if I unplug the monitor on which the loading text appears on, then I can get a screen to show the default Monterey desktop image, but no text or icons or mouse cursor on it, and the mouse/keyboard doesn't appear to do anything. I've tried unplugging the 3070 and only having the RX 580 plugged in, and I've tried it ...

Hackintosh on Aspire A715-75G
Image
Looking to dabble in macOS development by first trying on a Hackintosh running macOS Monterey. Being a first time Hackintosher (I don't know the proper word) on an Acer Aspire A715-75G, I'd like to know: What are the known issues on my device (going through the threads here, I figure the Nvidia card will have to be disabled), if anyone's made a Hackintosh out of one? Given the above issues, can I still get a decent performance to at least try my hand at development workflows in Xcode and AppCode? If yes to (2), what do I need to know to get started so that I don't end up messing up my device bad (read: bricking it)? Specifically, can I configure the bootloader to allow dual booting my usual Win 11 OS and Monterey as a fallback option? submitted by /u/AdityaMisra313 [link] [comments] [► Source]
Windows on incompatible m.2, is that a problem for hackintosh?
Image
Greetings, friends. Background and setup: Currently I have 12.4 installed on a SATA SSD. I have Windows 10 installed on a Crucial M.2 (CT1000P1SSD8). I also have a Samsung 980 pro 2tb m.2 that is formatted NTFS with nothing on it yet. I just got a WD SN850 2tb drive from the prime day sales. I believe the 980pro is not osx compatible because of TRIM issues. Can I transfer my Windows 10 to this drive? I think OSX just ignores it since its NTFS. I could then install my WD m.2 and move my mac install over there. Or am I going to have TRIM issues with the 980pro and should I just move it to my PS5? AMD Monterey setup USB mouse not working
Image
I use R7-5800 + B550M + RX5500 + BCM943602CS (with M.2 adapter). I've successfully installed Big Sur and done usb mapping in it (although all USB ports work without mapping). The two things not working in Big Sur are (i) the Bluetooth which is pre-integrated in the motherboard (but I don't need it in desktop PC); and (ii) the HDMI port of RX5500 not transferring audio (bought a DP-to-HDMI line to bypass the issue). Since I've got another RX6600XT, I tried to upgrade Big Sur to Monterey 12.4. Without change in EFI, the setup stuck at detecting the mouse. I use logitech mouse and keyboard with a unifying adapter plugged in USB2.0 and it works well in Big Sur. The things I've tried but not working: - USBInjectAll / XHCI-unsupported : not working in AMD as expected - SSDT-RHUB - XLNCUSBFix / AMD StopSign-fixv5 Any suggestions will be appreciated. original EFI structure Monterey setup not detected USB mouse submitted by /u/wzy318 [link] [comments] ...
