Kernel panic when attempting to boot on Icelake laptop
Image
Hi, I'm experiencing issues booting the macOS installer USB on my laptop. The specs are listed below. In all cases, it does not get very far into the boot process before kernel panicking. The output always to either "invalid frame pointer" or "backtrace [...] panicked thread [...] frame: return address" Tested on both Monterey (12) and Ventura (13), and same results with both versions. The troubleshooting here suggests tweaking on/off various options including DevirtualiseMmio, EnableWriteUnprotector, RebuildAppleMemoryMap, SyncRuntimePermissions, and SetupVirtualMap. From them, I have tested around 15 different combinations of those options being enabled or disabled, and none of them work, although they can slightly change the output as shown in the images below. If any potential solution / further troubleshooting step is provided, I will be sure to test it with all the different combination of the aforementioned options. My USB ports were mapped from ...

[HELP] Clicking ‘Enter’ In OpenCore TUI Would Not Do Anything
Image
I was installing macOS Ventura 13.5.2 on my PC. OpenCore Boot Menu appears as normal but by clicking 'Enter', it would not do anything. The keyboard works fine; I can use the arrow keys. I also typed the number of the boot option and clicked 'Enter', it would also not do anything. This is also my first time booting macOS on a PC. Here are my specs: -MSI MAG B460 TOMAHAWK -Intel Core i7 10700K (Codename: Comet Lake) -24GB DDR4 RAM -No GPU (Using iGPU) -No Bluetooth And WiFi Card (Using Ethernet) The TUI looks something like this: OpenCore Boot Menu EFI (external) Install macOS Ventura (external) | Restart | |Shutdown| Choose the Operating System: When I hit ‘Enter’, beside the colon of ‘Choose the Operating System:’, appears a word ‘OK’. It looks like this: Choose the Operating System: OK If I pressed nothing, it will disappear after few seconds and I’m still in the boot menu. If I pressed ‘Enter’ when ‘OK’ shows up, it will also disappear after few secon...
Google Chrome not working on Hackintosh 28/09/23

So it looks like Chrome has a new release as of yesterday and it doesn't seem to open on my Hackintosh. Latest version appears to be 117.0.5938.132 When I open the app, a window appears but is completely blank (no URL or bookmarks, etc. showing). I get the beachball for 20 seconds or so, and then it crashes. I don't get the pop up saying "the app crashed, would you like to report" or anything like that. I've managed to install an older version of Chrome and it works fine. Anyone else experiencing this? MacbookPro15.1 SMBIOS

My pc: CPU Intel Core i7 4th Gen iGpu Intel HD Graphics 4600 dGpu disabled is running Monterey and I was lucky to find an EFI compatibile with mine so I used the EFI (with MacbookPro15,1 Smbios) and almost everything worked just fine. However now I am trying to upgrade to Ventura using OCLP and doing some research I don't understand how in the world is the MacbookPro15,1 smbios working with my intel hd4600. Also the menu of OCLP tells me I don't need to patch the Efi since my pc is natively compatibile but when I run the installer it will stop. I am confused cause MacbookPro15,1 may be compatibile but my iGpu needs patching submitted by /u/Latinotech [link] [comments] [► Source]

[HELP] Hardware choices and supported MacOS

So, I´m reading a lot of stuff from over 4 years ago and mayyyybe there's the chance that this works differently now. My specs are; MOTHERBOARD: ASUS A68HM-PLUS CPU: AMD A8-7680 (Carrizo) RAM: 8GB DDR3 STORAGE: 250GB HDD GPU: Nvidia GeForce GT 730 4GB DDR3 (Fermi, GF108 edition) By looking over it my best chance is High Sierra, but I feel like that version is outdated af. My main use is just learn how to do it and maybe use spotify and safari. Is there a patch for newer version of MacOS and my hardware or I'm just better running High Sierra? GPU fans not activating under load in Windows+Ventura Dual boot.
Image
Hi, I recently began taking an personal educational dive into the macOS by seeking to dual boot my custom rig between Windows 11 & macOS Ventura. A couple of days ago, I successfully installed Ventura on a secondary M.2 SSD. As far as the Ryzentosh, everything has been a smooth success minus a refresh rate bug. My problem started showing tonight under Windows. I was simply browsing the web when my system shutdown. After the reboot, I had a hunch to check MSI afterburner, and found the GPU temp was hovering above 50-60 Celsius on idle when before I did anything with the Hackintosh side, was running at 29-31C. My GPU settings are their factory defaults and the fans are supposed to run once temperatures hit 50C, but now, they have not been running automatically, and I must set them manually in Afterburner for the fans to spin at all, and which makes them spin all the time. The fans also spin automatically in the UEFI as normal, stopping once Windows is booted, but now never resume au...
Can't watch 10bit HEVC video
Image
Hi all, I have my Skylake system with an RX 560 running Ventura very smooth. I spoofed my iGPU to the closest Kaby Lake iGPU to make it work on Ventura. Everything works flawlessly, except for one thing I just discovered today. I open a 10 bit HDR with Dolby Vision video recored by an iPhone and it shows this https://preview.redd.it/orhqqsoqpxqb1.png?width=1523&format=png&auto=webp&s=be886b29365294e4d563c284ac34388805bf15b6 It seems like my iGPU can't decode 10bit HEVC video. I tried using an override command to force my hack use my dGPU to decode, and it plays back beautifully. But this override will break FaceTime video calls. I want to make both functions to work. 1 option is switching my SMBIOS from iMac 18,3 to iMac Pro 1,1. But this won't take advantage of my iGPU. How do I make my system decode 10bit HEVC without needing to enable the override? submitted by /u/KVyDavid [link] [comments] [► Source]

Unnecessary Kexts slowing down bootup time
Image
So I've been using my Mac Ventura on a HDD.. the performance is quite okay.. better than windows infact.. I'm gonna switch to SSD really fast once my next salary comes. But the bootup time is really slow.. It takes almost 4-5 minutes to fully get out of the verbose screen and load the apple logo. There are some unsupported kexts i downloaded back.. which includes the Nvme fix and Realtek Ethernet which I don't need as I don't have an Ethernet port in my Lenovo s145. I use an wifi adapter which does the job. So will removing these unnecessary kexts make it any better? submitted by /u/ThickMembership4304 [link] [comments] [► Source]

macOS Ventura 13.6 -> Sonoma 14.0 Update Success
Image
Successfully updated from Ventura to Sonoma! No issues with the update. Had been dealing with an issue with display going black with backlight on on boot after updating to 13.6, would stay that way until waking from sleep. Wiping the boot drive and installing fresh fixes this issue. When restoring from a time machine backup, if caught in a boot loop, simply reinstalling Ventura/Sonoma without wiping the drive clean fixed the issue for me. Highly recommend making yourself an offline installer USB and a Time Machine partition before updating if you can, saved my ass when I accidentally shut down the laptop after wiping the macOS drive with my recovery partition. | Components | |---------------------------------------------------------------------| |OpenCore| Version 0.9.4 Dual Booting with Windows 11 |Boot-Args| -wegnoegpu rev=media |CPU | AMD Ryzen 5 4600H (AMD Vanilla Patches) |iGPU | 2Gb Radeon Graphics (Shared, boosted from 512mb to 2gb with Smokeless UMAF) Noote...
