Global Shipments of Wearable Devices Up 55.2% in 1Q19 [Report]
Image
Global shipments of wearable devices were up 55.2% in 1Q19 reaching 49.6 million units, reports IDC. Wrist-worn wearables accounted for 63.2% of those shipments; whereas, ear-worn shipments accounted for 34.6% of shipments, growing 135.1% year over year. "The elimination of headphone jacks and the increased usage of smart assistants both inside and outside the home have been driving factors in the growth of ear-worn wearables," said Jitesh Ubrani research manager for IDC Mobile Device Trackers. "Looking ahead, this will become an increasingly important category as major platform and device makers use ear-worn devices as an on-ramp to entice consumers into an ecosystem of wearable devices that complement the smartphone but also offer the ability to leave the phone behind when necessary." "Shipments of wristwear – including watches and wristbands – grew 31.6% year over year, and continue to dominate the wearables landscape," said Ramon T. Llamas, resea...

Image
A new Ecobee SmartThermostat and SmartSensor were leaked today on Lowe's website, reports ZatzNotFunny. The next generation thermostat features a glass display instead of plastic, enhanced wireless capabilities with dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, improved Alexa capabilities including calling, drop-in, and messaging, Spotify Connect, and more. The new SmartSensor offers quicker presence detection, greater range, and a magnetic base. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear to offer humidity sensing. Apple Agrees to Wait for Money Owed by Japan Display [Report]
Image
Apple has agreed to wait for money that it's owed by Japan Display, paving the way for a Chinese-Taiwanese consortium to invest in the company, reports Reuters. The group is expected to formalize its investment by June 14th. The consortium includes Taiwanese flat screen maker TPK Holding Co Ltd and Chinese investment firm Harvest Group. They will replace the Japanese government fund INCJ as Japan Display's biggest shareholder with a 49.8% stake. The deal will unlock up to $729 million in funds for the display maker. A basic deal had been reached in mid-April but its formalization was delayed due to a change in Japan Display's financial situation. Soon after, INCJ offered to forgive 44.7 billion yen in debt for Japan Display's 27.2% stake in JOLED. This is how I managed to create a VM of Mojave with a Ryzen cpu: My specs : Ryzen 5 1600 GTX 1050ti 8Ggb of ram First I dowloaded the Mojave version from this site (macOS Mojave 10.14.3; 18D109 (February 7, 2019) ) : aHR0cHM6Ly90ZWNoc3ZpZXdlci5jb20vaW5zdGFsbC1tYWNvcy1tb2phdmUtdm13YXJlLXdpbmRvd3Mv (decode it) VMware 15 from : https://www.vmware.com/ The unlocker from : https://github.com/DrDonk/unlocker I followed the basic installation from this site ( techsviewer.com ) : ⠀ 1. Install VMware 15 and don't run it yet. ⠀ 2. Extract the unlocker-master.zip file and launch in administrator mode the win-install file and let it do his thing. ⠀ 3. Launch VMware and create a new VM : Install the operating system later; Select Apple Mac OS X then macOS 10.14 (if you don't see macOS u failed the unlocker part); You can change the VM machine name and the location (I personally did not); Choose to store in a single file; Click finish; ⠀ 4. ...

Acer Aspire V 15 V5-591G [Mojave - Windows 10]

I just want to share my fully working hackintosh notebook experience. GUIDE here: https://osxlatitude.com/forums/topic/11355-acer-aspire-v-15-v5-591g-mojave-windows-10 https://i.redd.it/1agdshfdwc131.jpg CPU: i5-6300HQ Skylake GPU: Intel HD 530 & GTX 950M RAM: 8 GB DDR4 SSD: 250 GB WiFi + BT: Original is Qualcomm Atheros, I changed that to Broadcom BCM94352Z and enabled with patches. Everything is okay except GTX 950M (of course because optimus), Realtek SD Card reader (unsupported), FN Brightness keys. Fully working sleep, power management, audio, hardware encoding/decoding, iCloud, iMessage, FaceTime, AirDrop, Handoff, etc. Using dual-boot with Windows 10. Hacked since Sierra, took a lot of time to get everything working, but now it's (almost: still trying to enable Fn+br keys) completed, and actually it's very stable now (no kps, freezes, etc. since I fixed everything) Sierra: Wifi sometimes crashed. High Sierra: I think 10.13.2 version is the bes...
CPU idle around 3.7 GHz (XPS 15 9570)
Image
Hi, I followed bavariancake's guide to getting macOS Mojave running on my XPS 15 9570. I've got most of the stuff working, but one big issue is the battery drain. Using Intel Power Gadget, I see that my normal CPU frequency is around 3.7 GHz despite the base frequency of the CPU being 2.2 GHz. This causes fast battery drain, and I've also noticed that the computer keeps generating heat during sleep (it stays warm in my backpack) and battery keeps draining about 10% per hour. Is this normal? I've tried many things to get the CPU frequency down (including undervolt with VoltageShift) but the issue persists. Any help would be appreciated. Maximum brightness is still very dim on my Hackintoshed P52 Mojave
Image
So I recently hackintoshed my Lenovo Thinkpad P52. Really the only thing that I can't seem to fix is the maximum brightness. For clarification, the brightness controls do work, but whenever I have it at maximum brightness, the display is still very dim. I have tried to install AppleBacklightFixup.kext but this didn't fix my issue either. My Thinkpad P52's 20MAS03M00 specifications: Intel Xeon E-2176M GPU: Intel UHD630 and Nvidia quadro P2000 RAM: 16 GB DDR4 2400MHZ Display: 15.6" 3840x2160 (4K) If anyone has any clue to what I can change to fix this, please help! Thanks in advance. submitted by /u/sanderke2001 [link] [comments] [► Source]
Got an old system to run Mojave 10.14.5!
Image
https://i.redd.it/he145m9ntb131.png Got an old rig that I wanted to Hackintosh and it turned out smoother than I expected. Vanilla install was mostly smooth (other than the audio issue I posted a couple of days ago which I'm grateful for the help!). I'm surprised it ran everything this smoothly despite the old GPU. Build: Mobo: Asus H97M Plus CPU: i5 4590 GPU: GT 710 What works: Sleep/wake (I didn't do anything, it just worked) Graphics Acceleration Audio App Store Photo preview (I don't really know the term for this) that uses iGPU Dual monitor! (Only screen captured one monitor) What doesn't work: Any service that relies on a compatible WLAN card I doubt iMessage works but I don't have an iPhone so i can't test FaceTime doesn't activate but I don't use this anyway I guess this counts as partial success because not all the features work but all the features I need works so this is a huge success for me. ...
Msi GF63-8RC Problem
Image
Hi there, this is my first hackintosh and I've been working on it non-stop and overnight for over a week. Feel like its time to make this post to record my process for MSI laptop fellows and to ask for help. First of all specs Cpu : i7-8750H Gpu : GTX1050(not using)+UHD630 Chipset : intel HM370 Motherboard : MS-16R1(no information if you search this on internet though) Audio Card : ALC269 Trackpad : Showed both PS/2 compatible mouse and HID-compliant mouse option A quick overview, the first time I try to install I use unibeast with high sierra. Install end up successful but I cannot fix the 7mb vram issue no matter any method I try. After reading a lot in this subreddit, I decide to format my disk and give vanilla and mojave a go(rehabman's guide). Pure vanilla is a fail for me(I'm sure I'm doing something wrong), can't fix "waiting for root device" with usbinjectall.kext and all sort of setting. So I end up using the same vanilla disk I ...
Some curious questions about dsdt, hacking, etc.
Image
Hey, I’m using mac os x as secondary os for years. After installing clover and finishing some jobs (kext, uefi drivers, etc.), I thought I’m done, I don’t need to figure out dsdt or other things. After that I got random kernel panics, don’t knowing why. I searched web, tried some mists (change smbios, install some outdated-dumb kexts, etc. etc.) and I finally found it was usb3 based error can fixed with dsdt. After that I realized I don’t know very well about my system. I thought installing kexts into /EFI/CLOVER/KEXTS folder better than installing /L/E but I was wrong. My problem is I don’t know what should I do, I can’t find enough resources to satisfy my questions, basically I don’t understand. I hope someone waste their time to help me :( Is there any advantages to use iGPU with PCI-E? How can I make my system more stable? Sometimes my system lags a lot, I don’t know why, sometimes my ram usage is so high that lags my hacking. My hacking boot time is 50-55 sec but windows is...
Reliable 500$ build With expandability?

HP ProDesk 600 G3 SFF
Image
Hello, I will get my hands on a HP PC ProDesk 600 G3 SFF with i5-7500 3,4 GHz 8GB DDR4 Ram 256 GB SSD DVD/RW HD Graphics 630 I saw, that people had success with the G1 to hackintosh it. Because it is a SFF, when upgrading the GPU i would need a low profile (either AMD (RX 550/560) to run Mojave or Nvidia (GTX 1030/1050/1050TI) up to High Sierra. People mentioned, that the USB3-ports make problems. Other than the limitation of the GPU, the USB3 Ports do you see any hinderance to get this maschine to High Sierra or a Mojave Hackintosh? submitted by /u/pathfinderscrown [link] [comments] [► Source]

GIGABYTE Z390 AORUS PRO or ASUS ROG Maximus XI Hero (Wi-Fi) What's the difference?
Image
Sorry new here. I'm looking to build a hackintosh with the most expandability possible so I went to the custom mac pro section of the build guide on TonyMacx86 and these were the two options. I'm not very familiar with motherboards so as far as I can tell there is no difference for 50$ more (on newegg) since they both overclock. Does anyone mind explaining it to me or point me to somewhere I can find out? I couldn't find any info on google myself. Tl;dr Whats the difference between the GIGABYTE Z390 AORUS PRO or ASUS ROG Maximus XI Hero (Wi-Fi)? Or point me to somewhere I can find out. submitted by /u/notilovepie20 [link] [comments] [► Source]
