Replacing hardware. Can I just swap the drive?
Image
I’ve currently got an Ivy Bridge system with AMD graphics running perfectly on Catalina with Opencore. I have Coffee Lake hardware arriving today. If I create the proper EFI folder for coffee lake hardware and replace my current EFI with it, will the same macOS install boot on the new hardware? Obviously I’ll sign out of all the Apple services and stuff like that first. submitted by /u/joshkinsey [link] [comments] [► Source]
USB ports: I can't see devices connected to create a USBmap file

Hi everybody. I can't manage to see USB in use to create a USBmap for my Hack. Everything seems to be linked and inside PR11 and PR21 and after trying all kinds of solutions I found, the same problem persist. Any help would be really welcomed. CPU: i5 4670k GPU: iGPU+ GTX 670 2GB RAM: 16GB (8+8) Motherboard/Laptop model: GA-Z87X-D3H BIOS settings: I've tried XHCI in Auto and in Enabled mode (to force USB 3). i7-9700k not booting installer ! :(
Image
I have followed a guide on how to create a High sierra bootable USB and managed to boot from Clover to the loading Apple logo, but it just gets stuck right at the end after taking nearly an hour to fill the loading bar, i am using a i7-9700k and wondering what settings/kexts i needed to check in the EFI loader in clover for it to boot properly? Trying in Verbose mode just sticks straight away. BTW: I just tried it with default settings that came with the EFI folder i found from hackintosher guide. submitted by /u/Popcorncandy09 [link] [comments] [► Source]

New build - looking for advice
Image
I need a new pc and since in the past I've had a hackintosh install from time to time ( Mavericks and El capitan) I would like this new one to be also compatible. I've not kept up to date with the hackintosh scene but I did some reading these couple of days and more or less decide on the components. If someone can confirm that they are ok for a mojave/catalina install it would be great. In terms of price I have a little wiggle room but not much if some more component would be better. Thank you. Ryzen and Final Cut
Image
I recently picked up a Ryzen 7 2700x for $200 AUD and was thinking of upgrading my current PC with it. I currently have an i7 6700k so was thinking it would be a decent upgrade as I do a bit of video editing. My questions is, how does a Ryzen hackintosh perform in terms of final cut Pro? I know that without the integrated GPU there's no support for quick sync but haven't been able to find out a whole lot of information or comparisons. Is there anyone who has maybe used both or knows what kind of difference to expect between similar AMD and Intel CPUs? For example, how much difference would there be between say, an 8700k and a 2700x? Just for context I have a Vega 64 and 32gb ram. Thanks in advance :) submitted by /u/verydifficult [link] [comments] [► Source]

Hi guys. I'm stuck at the black screen after selecting the option to boot the macOS installer. The macOS installer is: macOS Catalina 10.15.1 Here'is my EFI Folder . Any help or guidance is much appreciated. I started with the started with the vanilla laptop guide from scratch via u/fewtarius : https://fewtarius.gitbook.io/laptopguide/ And here's my config: Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 1 CPU: Intel Core i7 8850H Graphics: Intel UHD Graphics 630/NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti with Max-Q Design; 3840 x 2160 Storage: Drive 1: SamsungPM981 (Windows 10 Pre-installed) Drive 2: Samsung SSD 970 EVO 500GB (blank) RAM: 32GB Single channel Note: I skipped that iGPU part and instead gave the invalid ig-platform-identifier just for the sake of booting the installer. submitted by /u/ishtiaq156 [link] [comments] [► Source]

2 SSD's

Hello, I've had multiple laptops now where I would hackintosh them and partition the hard drive to dual boot. On a ssd you obviously have to wipe if to format it correctly to get right partitions. My new msi prestige 15 has a additional nvme m2 slot to add another ssd. If I decide to run mac os on that new ssd and make that the Bootable one with efi parition, I won't have to wipe my current one with windows/Linux? submitted by /u/__R055__ [link] [comments] [► Source]

Sending SMS on iMessage Group Chats
Image
So I have gotten iMessage to work on my Hackintosh with one flaw, texting on group chats is kind of weird. Texting one person will allow me to text using iMessage, but when I try to text a group chat, it will always send as SMS and on other people's phone, it looks like it made a new group chat. Does anyone know a fix for this or know what is going on? Thanks! submitted by /u/zachary_robinson [link] [comments] [► Source]

Replace Motherboard on Precision 5820 with GA-X99P-SLI
Image
Hello My name is Billy and I've been kinda stuck trying to turn a Dell Precision 5810 Tower with a e5-2640 v3 2.6 processor, MSI GT 710 and 32GB Ram. I'm thinking of swapping out the Dell Motherboard with a Gigabyte GA-x99P-SLI as that would be much simpler to configure (I"m hoping). What do you guys think I checked the specs and it will take the memory and processor I currently have in the Precision 5820 am I missing something would there be a case issue I"m thinking and more so hoping I"m correct that it should be a simple swap out? Anyway those in the know let me know what you think about this. I need some feedback also does anybody know where to get one used or for a good price? Please let me know. Best Z390 ASUS motherboard?
Image
Hey guys, I'm in the process of buying components for my very first Hackintosh and I had actually already settled on the Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Pro motherboard as I've heard good things about it, but then I noticed that ASUS is running a promotion where I can get €100+ cashback if I've also purchased an i9 9900/K/KF at a selected retailer, which I happen to have. https://promotion.asus.com/en/nordics/intelcashback I'm wondering if there are any good ASUS Z390 motherboards that would work just as well as the Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Pro with minimal tinkering for a Hackintosh with the i9 9900KF, RX 580 and Fenvi T919 or would I be better off just passing up on the cashback and getting a Gigabyte Z390 motherboard instead? Most of the i9 9900k builds/guides I've seen use a Gigabyte Z390 motherboard, so would I most likely still be able to follow those guides with an ASUS motherboard or would I screw myself considering I'm a Hackintosh noob that wouldn't know how t...
Looking to upgrade my Desktop to make it Hackintosh friendly, help me pick a mobo?
Image
Hey y’all, I’m thinking about switching around some of my components and trying my hand at a Hackintosh. I have a Mac and have used Linux forever so I’m pretty familiar in a Unix environment. I’m looking for a Z370 or z390 that has onboard WiFi / Bluetooth that works OOB. Is there any mobo that can make this possible? I was looking at the Gigabyte Z390 Gaming X and did a search for it here and people were saying onboard WiFi and Bluetooth didn’t work OOB. Does anyone have some recommendations, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks! Edit: price range I’d like to stay under 175 but less expensive is always good! submitted by /u/PostNutDecision [link] [comments] [► Source]

[Help] HackBook boots into blackscreen after iGPU recognition, after 2-3min screen starts working, annoying
Image
Hey fellow hackintoshers, i just recently finished my TriBoot setup Win10/Mojave/Debian ubuntu on my Acer Nitro 5 (full exact specs: https://www.acer.com/ac/cs/CZ/content/model/NH.Q4BEC.001 ) After solving issues with Optane disk and finally installing there were only 3 problems: 1.Brightness control (gonna fix when I have time but could use an advice, not urgent) 2.WiFi (has Intel Card😂, bought super nano dongle, problem is no more) 3.iGPU acceleration (got working, but here´s the catch): When I boot in verbose mode, the system recognizes the iGPU that I set ID for, then screen shuts off. I thought it´s broken but after a few minutes of panicking, the screen came up and the card was fully functional! It RARELY (like 1 out of 10) goes just into a 1sec glitch and then boots immediately, but otherwise this keeps happening. Haven´t seen similar problem on this forum, so I decided to write it down here. I´m still super happy with my setup, love it so much, but it is just kinda an...

Vega56 No Signal on SMBIOS Change (Catalina)
Image
First time posting. Hoping I did adequate research before asking for help. I have the following hackintosh spec that was running on Mojave: Gigabyte Z390 AORUS Pro i9-9900k 64 GB Ballistix Sport LT DDR4-3200 1 TB ADATA XPG SX8200 Pro NVMe PowerColor Radeon Vega56 RED Dragon When I got the initial build working I was struggling with MultiBeast (didn't know of this sub yet, didn't know it was bad). I ended up getting a (as far as I could tell) working setup by using the EFI from here: https://hackintosher.com/builds/gigabyte-z390-aorus-ultra-i7-9700k-vega-64-hackintosh-build-guide/ (which, thanks to this sub, I also know is bad now). However, it was working, and I really didn't want to wipe everything and start from scratch if I didn't absolutely need to. I upgraded to Catalina today and during the upgrade process all I saw was a black screen, but it went through. Once I booted into the OS for the first time I saw the Apple logo until the point where it usua...
iMacPro SMBIOS - power management for CPU's that aren't Xeon?
Image
Hi. I am wondering what people using the iMacPro SMBIOS are doing for their power management? As I understand the this SMBIOS expects a Xeon CPU as in the real mac. However, most of us probably aren't using one. More likely people will be using coffeelake intels. Therefore are you just managing with this as default or has anyone used CPUfriend to modify the profile to load their own CPU values (i7/i9) rather than a Xeon's values? submitted by /u/NGF86 [link] [comments] [► Source]
Hackintosh on work PC?
Image
I work with video Editing. I have a mildly robust machine at work, but I think it’s performance would be better with a Hackintosh. It’s a i7 8700 32gb ddr4 256ssd RX550 4gb Now, to the questions... Is there a way to boot clover in this? Since IT probably has put some custom settings on bios with company restrictions, and the boot take around 3s without any screen to bios at all. I would be able to access the server at my work with the hackintosh? Since they’re through cabled Ethernet (considering the Ethernet works properly I mean) submitted by /u/Dawelz [link] [comments] [► Source]
Help!! I screwed up my computer after trying to install Catalina
Image
Basically what happened is I booted into clover and then into Catalina installer USB. Then I opened Disk Utility. I tried to reformat a partition so that I could install macOS on it, but it failed and I got some kind of error. Btw this partition is on my main SSD that I use for booting windows. Next thing I know, when I restart my computer, all of my hard drives are missing, bios doesn’t detect anything and I can’t boot to Windows. Catalina installer USB is the only thing that still detects all my drives and it seems like all of the data is still there. Did Disk Utility mess up my boot drive? I don’t get what I did wrong....how do I fix this? I can’t access any drives cuz they won’t show up in the bio submitted by /u/Mega_lego [link] [comments] [► Source]
Want to add a dedicated Windows internal SSD to my Hackintosh. What do i need to know?
Image
I set up my Hackintosh earlier this year using Vanilla method. Here's my parts: i7-8700 CPU with integrated graphics, Motherboard is Z370N Wifi Mini ITX, Crucial 8GB RAM DDR4-2666, currently my mac OS is running from a Samsung 970 Evo m.2 SSD. Dumb questions: Will integrated graphics in the CPU work on Windows? Will any of my parts conflict with Windows? How do i set it up so i can choose which SSD to choose on bootup? Are there any risks to adding an additional hard drive that's Windows? Will Windows run off ANY model SSD or will i have to be mindful? I haven't bought the SSD yet Which Windows is the best (7, 8 or 10? Or something else?) I hate auto-updates? I wont be gaming, just audio editing use and web use I currently have 1 stick of 8GB DDR4-2666 Corsair. I'm gonna buy another stick. Does it need to be the same type/model/size as i already have? Or can i choose anything and it will be compatible? Thanks for any information. If there are...
5120x1140, how does it okay with hack into AB?

I’ve read some problems about connecting 49” screens with 5120x1440-resolution to mac. It seems that either the hardware or macOS doesn’t support it.
