"Internet Connection Required" plugged into working LAN - Ryzen
Image
Getting "Internet Connection Required" at the Catalina install screen. LAN is working, using it right now from windows. Correct kext for mobo - installed Opencore successfully before. I toggled a mobo setting with the 4g decoding and that disabled my LAN even on windows so I had to switch that back to "disabled" in mobo and add the npci=0x2000 boot arg to the plist for Opencore. I read somewhere here to change the plist of the network kext to "Boot" instead of "Network-Boot" and its still saying internet connection required. Anyone know what I can do to get this to work? IOHDACodecDevice only shows up after replugging hdmi cable or installing FakePCIID.kext
Image
I have this odd issue where audio over hdmi won't work until I replug the hdmi cable. Then an extra section called IOHDACodecDevice shows up in ioreg under HDEF. With FakePCIID installed, without any helper kexts it works without re-plugging. So I thought to be smart and set the device id that it fakes in the OpenCore config. Added the device id to the correct section in the config and it does set the new device id properly, just like FakePCIID does, but audio over hdmi still doesn't work and re-plugging also stops working. Replugging works fine when I only define the alc layout. So I either have to use this old kext or re-plug the cable. There must be a better way to do this. But I don't know what FakePCIID does exactly. It does more than changing the device id for sure. Else setting the device id in the OpenCore config would've worked right? tl;dr How can I replicate what FakePCIID does in the OpenCore config so I can ditch this kext? submitted by /u/Specif...

[HELP] Early EFI boot failure when iGPU is enabled (SMBIOS: MacPro7,1)
Image
Hi all, My hack has been running stable (kinda) for a while and now I would like to enable the integrated GPU for HEVC decoding and stuff. But it doesn't work, if I have it then Recovery and installer won't boot at all (see photo attached). Sometimes the actual macOS will boot, but then my thunderbolt card stops working. I have a AKiTiO HDD box attached, the system can sometimes see the disks but it won't mount and after a while it disappears. And after a reboot it also fails to boot. I'm using the latest Clover release and MacPro7,1 SMBOIS, if needed I'll attach my EFI folder. Thanks for any help. https://preview.redd.it/j5qzba8y0zp51.jpg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b506e7e6042ffddd59c5b83cc7836427d4f55319 submitted by /u/i0ntempest [link] [comments] [► Source]
Drivers during boot USB creation
Image
I'm following https://dortania.github.io/OpenCore-Install-Guide/ktext.html#firmware-drivers to place drivers into the BOOT usb. Is there an easier way? Such as a set of drivers that work most of the times just to get started? I just need wifi. Everyhing else is optional. Can I just place all drivers in that list and let the installation figure it out? When I first tried Hackintosh years ago via multibeast, I don't remember it was as complicated. I have i5 third gen laptop, i3 6th laptop, and a A6 5400k desktop. Getting a set of drivers for any of these three would be great submitted by /u/ChineseOnion [link] [comments] [► Source]

[WhateverGreen issue(?)] Using Duet with OC to use iPad as sole monitor

I’ve followed the guide on Duet’s website and double checked everything. ( https://www.duetdisplay.com/help-center/can-i-use-duet-as-the-only-display-for-my-mac ) However, I get a black screen on the iPad after boot. This is only resolved by plugging in the HDMI cable at which point both the HDMI monitor and my iPad immediately start working. Yes, I have an active subscription for DuetDisplay. I need this so I can take my NUC with me on a moderate-trip while keeping the monitor at home. Catalina 10.15.7 bluetooth not available Thinkpad T480s

Hi, I am total beginner with hackintosh, but I couldn`t find the solution anywhere. My machine is Thinkpad T480S, i7 8550U version. For my EFI, I am using edited verstion (to make intel wifi work) of this file from GitHub : https://github.com/mohamedspicer/hackintosh-T480s My EFI: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1wKDT7To7WYcAaTPjQYdKG5bMq_IZumeF/view?usp=sharing I know that it`s a i5 version, but I am honestly glad that it just works. My problem: When I try to launch "bluetooth", I get this message : " You can’t open the “Bluetooth” preferences pane because it is not available to you at this time." Bluetooth seems to be disabled somewhere in ACPI level, but I dont have enough knowledge to edit them. I have bluetooth enabled in bios, so the problem is not there. Thank you very much for your responses! submitted by /u/42R0N [link] [comments] [► Source]

Intel or AMD for Upgrade
Image
Hi everyone. I'm currently running a 4790k with a Vega 56, and I am planning on upgrading my CPU. I was looking at the 3900x and 10900k. How's the current state of hackintosh on ryzen? I've heard that it's much easier and less buggy than in the FX processor times. Is it worth spending more to get the Intel variant? I have only read about complaints with Adobe software, which I never use, I just use macOS for programming and stuff like that, also I have quite some experience with setting macOS up, i wouldn't mind reading through docs and configuring stuff, as long as the end result is stable. I don't use windows for gaming that often. If anyone can provide some insight I would greatly appreciate it. submitted by /u/XyZaaH [link] [comments] [► Source]

So, I'm planning to buy a new laptop, and I've came across this one: https://amzn.to/30bxukN (I couldn't find any english page for it, so I'm gonna write the specs down here). Is this gonna be a decent hackintosh? I've never actually done a full functional hackintosh, so this would be my first one. I'd like to do it more for fun than for actual usage, but the more stuff works the better. Here all the specs that i could find: Laptop model: Acer Aspire 3 A315-54-33SG CPU: Intel Core i3-10110U RAM: 8GB DDR4 SSD: 256GB NVME (also, since this laptop only got one ssd, would this be a problem considering i'd like to also keep windows) iGPU: Intel® UHD Graphics for 10th Gen Intel® Processors (this is what intel says on the official page for this CPU, doesn't seem like a decent name for a iGPU ngl) submitted by /u/Cikappa2904 [link] [comments] [► Source]

OpenCore on AMD VMware Workstation

So this is a hard combination, I'd like to create a proper virtual hackintosh using OpenCore, VMware Workstation and AMD hardware. Before, I've successfully ran Macos on the same hardware in VMware using prelinked kernels, but they don't support (even the minor) updates which I need. My main purpose for the hackintosh is using XCode, which only runs on the latest version. What I've done: Create a bootable USB using gibMacOS Created a config.plist file to my best knowledge Using ACPI: SSDT-EC0 SSDT-EC-USBX-DESKTOP Using kext: AppleMCEReporterDisabler.kext Lilu.kext VirtualSMC.kext Using drivers: AudioDxe HFSPlus OpenRuntime Patches from AMD_Vanilla repository, the OpenCore ones for 17h. SMBIOS (iMacPro1,1) is being patched using VMware vmx config, generated by GenSMBIOS What happens: Everything goes through, but eventually hangs on the LOG:EXITBS:START message. I've tried all suggestions in the troubleshooting section of OpenCore, no luck....
