What is your favorite budget hackintosh machine?
Image
By favorite budget I mean one that’s sub $250, somewhat easy to setup OOB, and one you’d use as a daily driver? My personal favorite comes in at $125 on eBay for a used one in excellent condition with my build costing $175 for a broadwell i5, 12gb of ram, a 480gb ssd, and a 1080p ips display. It’s a Dell Latitude E5450 and everything but airdrop works natively in macOS Monterey. submitted by /u/Sweet-Package2164 [link] [comments] [► Source]

Should I upgrade from Big Sur to Monterey?
Image
I recently installed Big Sur on my dell laptop with a i5 10th gen intel chip with integrated graphics, but sometimes the hackiontsh slows down like while typing, the animations become buggy but then also become fine after a few seconds. also the right click takes 2 seconds to appear and the application open time is also long like 5 to 6 seconds. Now I am wondering if upgrading to Monterey would fix these issues? submitted by /u/Altruistic-Leg4117 [link] [comments] [► Source]

[HELP] Getting black screen on Mac versions of certain Steam games
Image
Hello. I currently have a hackintosh in order to test some games in Mac. This is in order to test if the fan-made Spanish translations of these games work here. The games I mentioned are the "Jackbox" games. So far, after I installed a hackintosh using VMWare, the same thing happens every time I open a game: a gray/black screen. Although sound plays and I can press Enter to continue, since nothing is displayed obviously I can't test anything. So far I tried versions 10.12, 10.14 and 11.0.1. The only one that had a substancial difference was 10.12. While a gray screen still happened, if I moved the window a little bit the screen would render a frame of what's happening in the game. I also tried another game (Crawl) to see if every game was affected, and that wasn't the case. The game opened and was totally playable. So I really don't know what's going on here. In case it helps, the Jackbox games run in Flash , as the games use "swf" files to r...

Question on dortania.github.io/builds -- which RELEASE to get?
Image
Hi there, I have a noob question about the dortania.github.io/builds page (and maybe this is me just not understanding the Github build process) -- say I just want to download the latest release for a particular package, which one should I be getting? For example, the current OpenCore release (as I type this) is 0.8.3: https://github.com/acidanthera/OpenCorePkg/releases -- however in the Dortania builds page it shows 0.8.4 with a bunch of commits and both DEBUG and RELEASE compiles: https://preview.redd.it/4cvcex5h7sh91.png?width=881&format=png&auto=webp&s=b8119c5fdf7d52054e3f7876d4e50be12e7257bd ...my question is, which of these should I be using? Is it the top-most one? The bottom-most one? Does each associated compiled build only include that particular commit, or does it include all previous commits up to that point? ...or is it generally safer to stick with the "official" release even though it may lag the latest bleeding edge build (in this case, s...

Hi! Yesterday I spend the day trying to install Big Sur and failing just to see, at the end of the day, that my installation usb was only 3Gb so it was not good. Help needed with CPU perfromance, X79 Monterey
Image
Hello guys, I'm a bit of a beginner to hackintoshing but I managed to get Monterey installed onto an ASUS P9X79 PRO. However, whilst benchmarking CB R20, I noticed that CPU performance was quite terrible. I'm talking less than half of what it should be. I suspect it could be a power management issue since my temperatures are steady at 30 or so degrees celsius. Does anyone have experience with this? What can I do to fix this? specs: ASUS P9X79 PRO, Xeon E5-2650v2, RX 460 (HP OEM), 32GB ram submitted by /u/foreignknife [link] [comments] [► Source]
Can't enable 1080p HiDPI on 25 inch QHD monitor
Image
Hi all, Since last week I am trying to use hackintosh on my Dell Optiplex 3060 MFF with macOS Monterey. Almost everything is working as it should, except the audio jacks but that's not important for me. My problem is that for some reason I can't enable 1080p HiDPI on my 25 inch Dell monitor. I tried BetterDisplay app but every time I restart my PC after I configure my desired resolution, it brakes the picture, I can see only 1/4 of the picture. Years ago I was using this script https://github.com/xzhih/one-key-hidpi with a real MacBook and it was working great, but now on my hackintosh I can see only 720p HiDPI and the native 1440p witch is making everything too small. Right now I installed SwithResX with 1440x810 but again the UI is too big. I tried to create custom resolution but whatever I do it stays "Not Activated - invalid" What am I missing ? submitted by /u/dj_brum [link] [comments] [► Source]
