iMac13,2 (Late 2012) successfully updated to Ventura 13.6.8
Image
No issues. Updated iMac to Ventura 13.6.8 (from 13.6.7) using Software Update. There was also a Safari update. At initial boot after update, OCLP prompted me to update the root patches and reboot. Been up a few hours. Looks good so far. submitted by /u/Turbo6666 [link] [comments] [► Source]

Upgrade error?
Image
I decided to upgrade my GPU on Mac Pro 5,1 to Sapphire Radeon NITRO+ RX 580, 8GB. I found on OCLP webpage that this GPU is fully compatible. But the problem is, that this GPU I too thick and there is no space on position 1 PCIe. I had to move it a bit higher. Now my setup is: position 1 - USB 3.0 card, position 2 - GPU, position 3 - not accessible, position 4 - NVMe ssd. I wonder how will be the temp of all components… Does anyone have the same GPU as I do? If yes, how do use it in your Mac Pro 5.1? submitted by /u/misak-plysak [link] [comments] [► Source]

i7 10700k or a newer i5?
Image
My Sandy Bridge i5 2500k hack is reaching the end of its life so I'm looking the two options below. My usage is for coding (Xcode not essential) and the MS office suite. I have an M2 MBP for light use and the hack would be my daily for a few hours a day. I'd be running a 4k monitor with the possibility for a second in years to come. Option 1: i7 10700k using the iGPU, no dedicated GPU Pros: This would save money not buying a GPU and could make sense as I don't play games. Cons: already 5 years old so not certain on future compatibility. On the other hand hackintosh may be dead anyway when Comet Lake loses support. Could 4k be laggy? Future second monitor support? Option 2: A more recent but budget i5. I could probably stretch to a i5 14400f. Paired with a Radeon 6600XT or similar. Pros: newer so likely supported until hackintosh dies completely. Better 4k performance? Cons: additional cost. Could be overkill for my use. Feel free to suggest other options. Any thou...

Closing lid creates kernel panic
Image
Hi all, I have a Retina, mid 2012 Macbook Pro 10,1 and installed Sonoma 14.5 with OCLP 1.5.0 The issue is that every time, without fail, I close the lid, the computer freezes up and panics, then to use it again I have to restart the computer. Not a big thing, but kind of a pain and wondering how I can either fix this or chase it down to help the community. I did disable Feature Lock and that helped initially but the problem has returned as frequently as before. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance! submitted by /u/anthrem [link] [comments] [► Source]

Can a 4 gb RAM MBP that runs High Sierra be updated?
Image
First of all: MacBook Pro (13-inch, Early 2011) Processor: 2,3 GHz Intel Core i5 Memory 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 3000 384 MB It has a SSD, so the computer still holds and is pretty fast. Unfortunately, most apps require a slightly newer version and even Chrome doesn't update anymore. I've read a lost of posts here but everyone has more memory than my computer, so I have the doubt: can I update the computer safely using OpenCore? Anything newer than High Sierra would be good. submitted by /u/Natigale [link] [comments] [► Source]

Switching from Linux to MacOS Sonoma
Image
hi everyone. as a long time linux user, i've been bothered by the lack of software availabilty (although the problem is not because of linux itself but devs) and i'm thinking of switching to a hackingtosh in my T480. what are some things to consider when switching? will i run into hardware issues with opencore? i know basically nothing about macOS, but i was thinking that i could get a very similar experience to that of linux by installing the brew package manager. submitted by /u/Torkapp [link] [comments] [► Source]

Is hackintosh really dead now?
Image
Yea, i saw a video that macOS 15.1 is out, include Apple Intelligence, for me, i really like that A.I and with new Siri animation, but since Apple fixed new Siri UI since macOS 15 beta 2, and when i check why i dont get that update, i know that apple intelligence just support for Apple Silicon and A17 Pro, so hackintosh literally have a Intel chip so i cant use A.I, so maybe in the future, we will have a way to get it work or not, and thank you to read this too, i hope y'all have a good day:) submitted by /u/AdStriking4494 [link] [comments] [► Source]
Required Guidance regarding hardware.

I have decided to finally take the plunge into making a hacintosh. After reading about it since last many days in this sub and dortina guide, I have found that I need to buy a new gpu (I have non-igpu processor and Nividia quandro grpahics currently) and sperate NVME to run hackintosh from. I had previous done a hackintosh dualboot with windows on my old laptop but then removed it later and don’t want to do it again on the same. Here are my PC Specs: Intel i5-11400f 16 GB of ram (Might upgrade to 32 GB but not decided yet when) OS: Win 11 on NVME and Ubuntu on HDD Current graphics : Nvidia Quadro T400 (Will be disabled for hackintosh but will be used with windows and Linux) Now here is where I am having a problem. Option 1: I can buy 250gb sepperate NVME (WD build) + Sapphire RX 6600 and it will cost me somewhere around 350$ (I am from India so no microcenter for me) and triboot it. Also, the new graphics card will be in pcie x4 port as x16 is already occupied with my quad...

How old can I go to be able to build an iOS app?
Image
I am developing an Android/iOS app in Flutter. I am currently using VS Code on my windows to create the app and it's working fine on the android side but I am facing an issue with iOS as I don't own a Mac If I understand things correctly, I will need a Ventura OS environment to build and publish my app on the App Store. I know I could rent for a time a virtual machine but I'd rather have a physical one. Problem is, I don't want to spend several hundreds or thousands of bucks on a MacBook. I was thinking of buying an older Mac (16GB RAM and 500GB SSD) and install a Ventura OS on it using OpenCore Legacy Patcher. If follow this list of supported versions , I can use a MacBook from up to 2008, even if I don't think it would work as needed. How old can I go to be able to use a Mac just to build and publish an app? Thanks in advance! submitted by /u/Driendle [link] [comments] [► Source]
macOS 14 Sonoma build on intel Core i7-12700KF 12th Gen Alder Lake CPU, MSI PRO Z790-s ATX, and Radeon RX 6750 XT GPU?

Hi Reddit, building a new pc and wondering if it would be possible to make a macOS 14 Sonoma build on intel Core i7-12700KF 12th Gen Alder Lake CPU, MSI PRO Z790-s ATX motherboard, and Radeon RX 6750 XT GPU? I looked on OpenCore install guide and didn’t see Alder Lake on the list (supported or otherwise) and on Reddit I didn’t see any builds on my motherboard or specific GPU. Never done a hackintosh before, interested in the project unless there is some major hardware barrier I’m unaware of. Planning to post results should the project not be a horrible idea. OpenCore SSDT GPU Spoofing doesn't do anything

Hi, I am trying to spoof my R7 250 to R7 250X by using OpenCore. And nothing is changed, the device id is still the same i...
