Macbook Pro 2017, no touch bar, 16gb ram, what Mac OS should I move up to.
Image
Got this macbook last year, love it, but a mission-critical thing for me, running google drive and browsing it within Find, is finally dead, google doesn't love me enough anymore. I was going to linux things up, but I had weird problems in that installation process, so Open Core seems to be way to go. The problem is, how far to push it? submitted by /u/link6616 [link] [comments] [► Source]
Lot of games not opening
Image
I started roblox for the first time on this macbook pro 2015 and at first the app at least opened but after i tried to open my first game it crashed and never opened again with this error:Crashed Thread:0 Main Dispatch queue: com.apple.main-thread Tried searching online but only found some forums that talked about some programming things, this feels like im the only one having this problem. tried fm 24 demo, crashes at open, tried combat master, crashes at open, just installed minecraft and its the only game working at the moment. Can it be opencore legacy patcher? should i do a clean install? is there something i can do to fix it? submitted by /u/Objective_Algae_3343 [link] [comments] [► Source]

Logic Pro completely unusable on MacPro6,1 with Sequoia 15.5 (OCLP 2.4.0)
Image
Hi OCLP Team, First of all, thank you for your amazing work on keeping older Macs alive. I would like to report a serious issue I encountered regarding Logic Pro on my system. Here's my setup: - Model: MacPro6,1 - CPU: 2.7GHz 12-core Intel Xeon E5 - GPU: Dual AMD FirePro D500 3GB (Metal 2 supported) - RAM: 128GB 1066 MHz DDR3 - OS: macOS Sequoia 15.5 (upgraded from Ventura using OCLP) - OCLP Version: 2.4.0 ### Problem: Logic Pro is currently **completely unusable** on this system. - Audio Unit (AU) scan is extremely slow. - Even after the scan is finished, the system continuously hangs and freezes when creating new tracks or simply navigating the UI. - The app frequently goes into 'Not Responding' state for several minutes. ### What I’ve Tried: - Disabled System Integrity Protection (SIP) - Disabled Gatekeeper - Skipped AU plugin validation using the following terminal commands: ```bash sudo spctl --master-disable defaults write com.apple.audio.InfoHelpe...
2015 MBP completely dead after OCLP install
Image
I installed OCLP (latest release 2.4.0) on my 2015 15" MacBook Pro last week and upgrade from Monterey (I think) to Sequoia. All was working well until I went to turn it on earlier this week to find it's completely dead. No fans turn on, screen is black. Now I've no idea if this could have been caused by OCLP or not. Has anyone seen anything like this before? One other thing I did shortly after installing OCLP was to clean off the anti-reflective coating on the screen as it was suffering from 'staingate'. But again was working fine after doing this. At first when the charger was plugged in the light on the magsafe2 was green. But now the light is orange all the time. I've tried resetting the SMC. When I do this the light on the magsafe2 briefly goes green and then back to orange again. I've also tried resetting the PRAM. I've taking the back off and can't see any obvious damage. Have disconnected the battery and tried booting & resetting SM...
Circle Of death after install and reboot
Image
I've got a late 2011 MBP that I'd love to get a little modern. I followed instructions on OCLP, building everything on the host laptop. I was able to install and boot and mess around a bit on the OS. Seems like it worked great until I restarted and got the grey circle of death with a little bit of flickering mixed in. This was my sequence: Recovery mode- install lion Upgrade to Sierra through apple download. Upgrade to high Sierra through app store. Download and install OCLP. Use oclp to Install sequoia and build tools to USB drive Boot to OCLP, format hard drive and install sequoia. Laptop boots, test out finder, Safari all works well. Reboot through menu Grey circle of death. Repeat process with Sonoma - same result. Any thoughts on getting this working or next steps? submitted by /u/sassafrassquatch [link] [comments] [► Source]

Audio Output Issue on Macbook Air 11 inch Early 2014(Macbook Air 6'1). HELP PLEASE
Image
So I have the Macbook Air 11 inch( 6'1) and I decided to install OCLP as a friend told me about it, I decided to upgrade to seqouia as I have 500GB on the hard disk and thought it was enough. Installed it and things were great up until the update OCLP 2.4.0, when it came out I updated it and everything was fine and then one day the sound just stopped working, I hadnt noticed since I had my headphones plugged in at the time but when I took them out no sound ? I plugged the headphones in and out a few times but the sound output swaps to the internal speakers for like 10 secs and then goes back to the headphones even when they're not plugged in. Basically they only work when my headphones are plugged in but as soon as I plug them out no sound. It remains the same as if I never plugged them out in the first place. I have tried everything from restarting to and EFI boot and I'm now considering removing OCLP but I use this Mac for uni and my whole life is on here, CAN ANYONE HELP...
Stuck creating 10.15 bootable media.

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015) - Stuck on Apple Logo with VoiceOver
Image
Hi, I am being thick. Trying to install Mac OS Sequoia onto a MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015) , thankfully have another MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015), initially did the USB stick using Host machine and after wiping the target MacBook got as far as the Apple Logo with VoiceOver, then read should select the specific machine, so changed to MacBookPro11,4 although host machine was and is a MacBookPro11,4 when creating the installer but have got to the same stage. I also have two new to me Mac Pro 2013 Trash cans that I was wanting to try to get Sequoia on but would like to get it working on the MacBook Pros first. Did installer from Option key (after selecting the OCLP option first), then when rebooting option key and selecting the installer with the HD image (after selecting the OCLP option first), and then eventually using option key (after selecting the OCLP option first) to select McIntosh HD and Sequoia. Though also doing non option key route still ends up with s...
Problems with .mov videos in Mac Photos, Sequoia 15.5 on a 2012 15" 2.6GHz quad core
Image
Hi all. I've got a great machine here and have found very few problems so far. But I can no longer edit or export video files from the Photos app. I record videos with a canon powershot or an iphone. They both import (slowly) into Photos app on my mac and appear as .mov files. Basic edits are not available. When shortening a video I can draw the cursors in to shave off the beginning or the end, but there is no option to Save, so it reverts. When I export at a lower resolution it stalls for 5 minutes and then says it failed. Sometimes the exported video appears later on the desktop, but at full resolution again. When I upload them to youtube, I get a notification that upload has finished, but "Processing failed". Anyone else having these problems? I can still upload the same video directly from iphone to youtube, so there is nothing wrong with the original .mov file, or with my youtube account, or wifi/upload, etc. submitted by /u/Roger_Ales [link] ...
MacBook Pro 2010 intel i5 2.4ghz - do I update the os?
Image
Hi guys I have an old mid 2010 MacBook Pro 15inch running i5 2.4ghz I’ve been reading a lot about the open core legacy patcher and the ability to update the old MacBook which is great. I’m running an SSD and I’m on 4gb Ram GPU GT 330m 256mb. El Capitan runs pretty smooth on my MacBook and I’m just about able to web browse with chrome and watch YouTube videos and do basic tasks. I’m wondering if there is anyone here with the same chip that has had success with updating their os via open patch or would you recommend sticking with the old os? submitted by /u/SufficientFood4669 [link] [comments] [► Source]
2013 iMac 27” Help!!

Or do I need a different version or a different OS? Any help appreciated!! submitted by /u/No-Register-4504 [link] [comments] [► Source]

Help! OpenCore Updated and Now macOS Sonoma 15.6 Won't Boot — No NVRAM Option
Image
Hey everyone, While trying to sort out some Bluetooth kext issues, I had macOS Sonoma 15.6 running flawlessly on my system. I was using OpenCore 0.8.8 and decided (without really thinking much of it) to use the built-in updater to upgrade OpenCore. It went to version 1.X.X — I don’t remember the exact version, but it was the latest available via the updater. After rebooting, I noticed that the "Reset NVRAM" option is missing from the OpenCore boot picker. The only options I now see are: Windows Install macOS macOS Recovery.dmg Windows still boots fine, which is great, but no matter what macOS-related option I choose, I get the same error (screenshot will be attached). System Specs: Laptop: ASUS ROG GL753V CPU: Intel i7-7700HQ (Kaby Lake) GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 (disabled in macOS) macOS version: Sonoma 15.6 Bootloader: OpenCore (was 0.8.8, now auto-updated to 1.X.X) I do have: A copy of my previous working config.plist A full Time Machine backu...

Imac 21.5" 2017 clean install always ends in boot menu
Image
I'm trying a first time clean install of the latest OS. I downloaded oclp, made a bootable usb drive with enough GB and tried to install it onto a ssd that I connected with usbc (old hard drive is way to slow, I ran the older, supported versions on there for speed and performance reasons, worked good) I erased the ssd for clean install, selected the efi boot logo and tried to install the OS. First everything seems fine, Apple logo, loading bar, even the sequoia 29 minute below the bar appear, but suddenly it goes black after a while and goes back into boot menu.. I've tried it with a slightly older version of sequoia as well, same thing. Imac can't connect to the WiFi (see picture), it says connected, but no internet which is weird, when I click on the WiFi logo I can't see the name of the internet and there is a logo over the wifi icon I don't know what's going on submitted by /u/bennysven [link] [comments] [► Source]

I have a very odd issue if anyone is interested in helping me out; On my iMac 2011 I did a GPU upgrade and lost access to the Mac's Bootpicker (alt on boot) due to a blank screen that stays off till OpenCore EFI is loaded, I installed OpenCore to the SSD however I am having trouble selecting the EFI as I cant see the selections since the screen is off. Noob's Macbook Pro 8,2 and Sequoia questions
Image
Hello, before anything else - please bear with me :) Couple weeks ago while scrolling through local auction site I stumbled upon a Macbook Pro 15" from early 2011. It was being sold as "working, but with defect". The defect was the bulged battery that also cracked the touchpad, so it was being sold without drive, battery and charger. For about $15. Bargain in my book. And since I've never used any Macbook in my life I thought it might be a good opportunity to tinker with it and just learn about MacOS in general. So I've installed a 512GB SSD, replaced that broken touchpad, added new (replacement) battery and a charger and I've installed High Sierra on it, since it was the latest, officially supported OS this machine should be able to have. I'm also planning on putting additional 8GB of RAM, since it has a single 8GB stick and I've read that despite supporting only 8GB total, it should work with 16GB. But since many apps from the store refuse to i...
Best daily driver for 2015/2016/2017 13" macbook pros?
Image
I've got one of each. All are dual core with 16 gigs of RAM. While I do see people here with older machines running Sequoia, I've used it on the 2015 and was not happy with the performance. I just got the 2016 and 2017 today from a friend who was going to toss them; so, I haven't really had time to mess with them yet. I'm thinking: 2015 - macbook pro 12, 1 - Ventura 2016 - macbook pro 13, 2 touch - Sonoma 2017 - macbook pro 14, 2 - Sequoia I'll be using the 2017 so if there are quirks there, I'm fine with them. The other two will be used by computer illiterate family members, so there's far less tolerance for quirks. To be honest, the 2015 might get recycled at this point. Thanks. submitted by /u/Aeeaan [link] [comments] [► Source]
When will Tahoe release to OCLP?
Image
Im sorry if you've seen this one hundred times, and it's not just the one question. Ofc the first question, when most likely will it release to OCLP And the second being will it fix the red screen issue for apps using chromium on AMD GPU hardware such as the 2013 Mac pro as it got so bad on mine I had to revert back to an older version. I haven't tried updating it again since but I don't know if that had been fixed? Thank you!! submitted by /u/Zolks1 [link] [comments] [► Source]

How to open BootPicker on gpu upgraded iMac?
Image
I have pretty much completed getting OpenCore to work installing new OS however I have it installed on an SSD that is inside a USB enclosure while my current drive with OC EFI is the internal HDD Im trying to swap (changed to EFI boot before GPU upgrade, BootPicker was accessible before GPU upgrade), atm holding Option while it may open the BootPicker my screen remains black due to a GPU upgrade which doesnt get fixed if OC isnt booted to (I still get the OC BootPicker but not the built in BP), how can I get the iMac to boot off the EFI on the new SSD before I physically install it? Mac mini help after update
Image
Upgraded my 2012 Mac mini to Sequoia using open core. My whole system was very slow after the upgrade. I then tried the after install patcher, but that didn’t help. Try to log into my computer after a few days and it was basically frozen. Turned it off and turned it back on and this is what I get. I can’t get past it. It loads a bunch of code and stops on the screen every time. I can’t get past it. Tried using a USB boot and it won’t recognize it. iMac Retina 5K 27” randomly powering up the screen while sleeping, since I installed OCLP again
Image
So i have redone my OCLP install with Sequoia on my iMac when I installed an internal SSD, and now the machine does this weird thing. I put it to sleep and it would stay like that but randomly I notice the screen’s backlight goes ON (no image on screen just black) for a while and then back off. It’s not awaken because if I move the mouse when it does that, nothing happens, actually trying to wake it up from that state doesn’t really work until it decides to turn the screen off. The duration of this “backlight glitch” isn’t always the same (some times it lasts long, sometimes it does not) I have zero idea about what could be happening here but it’s really annoying. It definitely wasn’t happening when I had an earlier version of Sequoia running on the same machine but with the spinny drive. Any help appreciated. submitted by /u/LandNo9424 [link] [comments] [► Source]
