Disk Utility not seeing internal SSD

Hey guys, I am trying to install macOS Sierra on an old computer I have. After a lot of initial trouble, I was able to get to the installer but it does not show my SSD. I tried going to disk utility as well but the only device listed there is my USB drive.

My specs are

  • motherboard: MCP73M01H1 ( does not have UEFI, only legacy)
  • CPU: Intel Core 2 quad q8200
  • GPU: NVIDIA GT520

My bios does not show any option to change the SATA mode to AHCI so I think that may be the problem. I searched online and found that some people were able to go around this problem by using some kext files. unfortunately that doesnt seem to work for me. Is there any other way I can get installer to see my SSD or is it just impossible for me to install macOS on my system?
