Can boot from USB but not HD, stuck at "mismatch sizes"

I just acquired a Lenovo E540. I also have two USB install sticks (UniBeast from TonyMac). One works with this one but the other doesnt and seems to work on my Toshiba Portege Z930.

Anywhoo it's got an i5-4200 (HD4700 graphics). I used MultiBeast to install clover, then in clover configurator I created a new file so that the graphics and SMBIOS were already set (MacBookPro11,1). When I boot from the UniBeast stick and change the settings to that, along with the graphics IG-platform-ID to 0A260006, it boots fine. But with the same settings in the config.plist file on my EFI drive for Clover. It starts out with the "OSXAptioFix2Drv" tag at the top, then after loading stuff shows:

"AppleKeyStore: operation failed (pid: 32 sel: 7, ret: e00002c2 '-536870206', -1, 100000)

hmm.. mismatch sizes: 3100 vs 20

After a minute or two it goes to the Apple load screen with the status bar but nothing changes. So the only way I can get in is by using the stick. When I use the stick I still get the same message but it continues after a second and loads and ethernet message and goes through the rest of the process.

The only kexts in my 10.12 folder is the Voodoo PS2 kext to enable the keyboard and trackpad. If I install clover using the Clover installer (instead of MultiBeast) I dont have the issues of no mouse or keyboard when I boot. Not sure what I'm missing here.
