Issues with iMessage

So I recently wiped my machine and installed macOS Sierra 10.12.6!

My hardware:

  • i7 3.4 Ghz (Skylake)
  • ASUS Z170-K
  • 32GB Ram
  • Nvidia Geforce GTX 950
  • Samsung SSD 850 EVO 500GB

In general, everything works without much effort. Getting the graphics to work was surprisingly pain-free. The only real issue I have is I can't get iMessage to work. I can log in with my Apple ID, but it just says "Phone number is not registered with iMessage".

I followed the guide in the sidebar and searched around for a fix, but couldn't find anything that works. Most stuff I found is quite outdated anyway and references stuff that isn't present in Sierra anymore.

Does anyone here know how to get iMessage to work?
