If your build is having trouble sleeping (shuts down instead), and you are using better touch tool, a (temporary) solution is to quit BetterTouchTool before putting it to sleep.
This has been driving me crazy and I stumbled upon a github issue today in which a couple people were having this same problem. Thought it might help someone here until the devs for BetterTouchTool provide a fix!
