Is it me or has Hackintosh-ing gotten much more complicated over the past few years?

As I sit here and work on a clean install of High Sierra (up from Sierra) and continually run into challenges, I’ve started to think back about each of my builds with various hardware over the years (Snow Leopard, Lion, Mountain Lion, Mavericks, Yosemite, El Cap, Sierra) and how each time (more so starting with El Cap) that the install process has become more involved even though the community and software available for hacks has evolved significantly.

Is it just me or is this become more complicated with each generation? Maybe I’m just getting older and don’t have the patience I once did.
