Help me get past black screen after upgrading CPU

Hi, I had started the hackintosh process iwht tonymac tools a couple years ago, but my processor was really poorly supported, and I abandoned it ( Pentium G3258 ).

I updated to a 4790K this weekend, and wanted to try to get things back up and running properly.

Hardware I have now:

i7-4790K

MSI Z97 PC Mate

NVidia GeForce GTX 570

What happens now if I boot with the settings I had before, it goes through the apple logo loading bar, and then screens turn black.

I can boot successfully in safe mode, but I cannot mount EFI folder in safe mode ( is that normal )?

When it was workign with the old processor with FakeCPU in clover, I installed the nvidia web drivers.

At this point, clover will not let me remove 'nvda_drv' from the boot options, no matter what I do to edit that, it always adds that back on to the end of the string.

So the only way I can boot succesfully right now is pressing 'space' on my volume, and choosing Safe Mode - I cannot edit boot options to add just -x to it.

I thought it would be a good idea to update clover, but I could not mount my EFI partition in safe mode when I tried.

Any recommendations on how to move forward without reformatting?
