I have an old 2013 MacBook Air I used to do photo editing with. Worked fine but given that it’s a laptop I decided that a new desktop would be much faster and buying a Mac was outside my budget. So last year I built a pc. However I was disappointed by the speed of the Adobe programs in windows 10. The lag in Lightroom to move from photo to the next was evidently slower than my Air. Tried various things to speed it up with no luck. Finally, this weekend, I bit the bullet a bought another SSD and installed High Sierra.
I’m not sure why given it’s the same hardware. But the Mac OS runs the Adobe software much more efficiently.
My specs: 6700k, GA 170z gaming 5, 32 GB ram, Samsung 500GB SSD, 970gtx. I have windows installed on an Intel m.2 ssd.
Some notes: I couldn’t get my iMessage to work at 14,2 but when I switched to 17,1 the problem went away. I thought it was because I couldn’t find a working serial number. After maybe 100 unsuccessful tries using various vpns on apples checkcoverage (also got black listed by the site), I switch the smbios to 17,1 and it just worked.
Sound was working using sound aggregator on midi but for some reason 2 of my 6 channels stopped working but I can careless about it for now.
