Vega fan speed

So I’m running 10.14.2 on mojave using vg_tab to set the fan speed on the vega. The fans seem to fire up fine and while running luxmark I stay below 75° (usually around 69-72). The problem is the fans never spin back down even when the card returns to 29-32° at idle. Any thoughts?

Best option for high end Mojave Hackintosh?

Looking for recommendations of a laptop to buy and to install Mojave..

Wanted:
15 inch size, (not too big not too small) User replaceable SSD / HD. (Maybe option to have two drives SSD and HD)
Good hardware build quality
Good results when installing Mojave - everything works when I carefully follow the directions of a decent write up to convert machine to a Hackintosh.

Lower priority
-Don't care about cost.
-Not overly concerned about thinness and weight. Apple too much focused on this at expense of repair ability

Most importantly I want to get away from Apple's poor repairability/upgradeability and avoid soldered in SSD drives.

Apple Estimated to Have Sold 14.5 Million iPads Last Quarter [Chart]

Apple sold about 14.5 million iPads last quarter capturing 26% of the tablet market, according to a new report from Strategy Analytics.

The global tablet market contracted 1% in Q4 2018 ending the year 6% lower with total shipments of 173.8 million units. However, it's believed that the market may be on the path to recovery with Apple, Huawei, Samsung, and Microsoft having a good fourth quarter.

Apple iOS shipments grew 10% year-on-year to 14.5 million units in Q4 2018, pushing its worldwide market share to 26% of the Tablet market. By growing double digits, Apple added 2 percentage points to its market share year-over-year. Apple is attempting to remake the computing market with more mobile iPad Pros for productivity while offering lower priced iPad slates for entertainment. The product mix tilted toward iPad Pro due to the launch of its newest products in that line and boosted ASPs to $463 this quarter from $445 in 2017. Meanwhile, Android shipments fell to 32.9 million units worldwide in Q4 2018, down 6% from 34.9 million a year earlier and up 35% sequentially. Market share fell 3 percentage points year-on-year to 60% as many branded Android vendors find it very difficult to compete on price in the wake of Apple lowering its iPad prices. The slate market is particularly sensitive to price and the Android segment is dominated by Slate models.

USB Installer Stops at "End RandomSeed"

My Hackintosh worked perfectly with High Sierra. I'm trying to update to OS Mojave, so I created a bootable USB and installed clover onto it. Ive made sure ththoat Osxaptio fix and EmuVariable is not deleted; they're in the folder. Clover doesn't seem to see any of my texts, like FakeSMC.kext when I am about to boot. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I've been on this for a week now.

Thanks

Graphics glitch with WHQL enabled.

I'm trying to have WHQL enabled on my bios as I dual boot into Windows and I like the boost in boot speed and the proper resolution of the windows logo/clover etc. When I enable WHQL on my bios t causes the defects seen in the video, basically rendering the computer useless until I reboot and turn WHQL off. I'd really like to sort this as it's my last compromise to having a hackintosh and it's a tad annoying!

I have:

MSI z270M Mortar

i7 6700k

nVidia GTX 1070ti 8Gb - Web drivers installed

16Gb DDR4

500Gb Sandisk SSD

When I boot clover menu and click Mac OS install, I get a black screen with a with crossed circle. And then nothing. Any ideas?

6th Gen Intel Core I-5-6200u (3m cache, up to 2.8 ghz). 8gb LPDDR3 1866MHz. Intel (R) HD Graphics. 256gb solid state drive. 13.3 inch qhd. I have stock WiFi card in right now so I can still use my computer until I get this fixed. But I have a DW1560 ready to go when needed.

BIOS: Disable secure boot. Disable v/t for direct I/o. Auto os Recovery threshold to off. Set data operations to disabled.

I ordered a usb Mac OS Sierra online. I installed clover to the usb UEFI (usb was put into gpt) I mounted EFI Partition and replaced the clover file with the guide that I’m following of the same computer model. Dell xps 13 9350.

Guide I’m following: https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/guide-dell-xps-13-9350-macos-10-12-1.204730/

When I load into clover I click on Mac OS installer and I get a black screen with white circle through it. Kinda losing hope here. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

ASUS ROG Strix Z390-I, i5-9600k, post-install problems

Hello, all—I posted this in TonyMac and got banned. :( I used the vanilla install method and didn't realize I couldn't ask for support there for non-TonyMac install methods. I thought if I posted the clover settings that I used, it'd be enough. Anyway, I'll move my discussion here, typing it all out again. :)

My Build

  • Motherboard: ASUS ROG Strix Z390-I
  • CPU: Core i5-9600k (Intel® UHD Graphics 630)
  • Memory: Ballistix Sport LT 32GB Kit (16GBx2) DDR4 2400 MT/s (PC4-19200) DIMM 288-Pin BLS2K16G4D240FSC
  • AIO: Cooler Master MasterLiquid LC120E RGB
  • PS: EVGA 550 B3, 80+ Bronze 550W
  • Case: Cooler Master RC-130-KKN1 Elite 130 - Mini-ITX
  • Boot Storage: 1 Samsung EVO 250GB SSD
  • Additional Storage: 2 Crucial P1 1TB 3D NAND NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD - CT1000P1SSD8 (2TB RAID 0 via software raid) 1 4TB Seagate Barracuda

Configuration and Kexts used for installer

Clover Setup

I followed the Vanilla installation guide here.

USB Clover Bootloader

Kexts

  • AppleALC.kext
  • IntelMausiEthernet.kext
  • Lilu.kext
  • USBInjectAll.kext
  • VirtualSMC.kext
  • WhateverGreen.kext (it's included, but I don't know if I actually needed it since I don't have a dedicated GPU)

Installation

The installation went really well. It completed without issue. The end result was that I could boot into Mac OS from the main SSD while using Clover Bootloader (USB). The issues that I encountered weren't catastrophic, but they did make Mac OS unusable:

  • Graphics The graphics were jittery and would sometimes freeze and lag for several seconds.
  • Audio The audio wasn't recognized at all.
  • Wired Ethernet Network This one was odd and hinders me from doing any google-fu from the Hackintosh itself. The network will work fine for brief moments, then it will slow to a halt, not allowing anything more than a crawl. A download won't complete, a speedtest will not complete, basic web browsing takes several minutes to load a page. Oddly, the system tools like iCloud Photos seemed to work okay—it was downloading photos without issue. That may have just been my imagination, but I monitored activity monitor and Photos was using the network fine. That being said, even pausing Photos network activity, I couldn't browse like normal.

What I've tried So, plainly, I don't really know where to go from here, which is why I'm asking for help. :) The vanilla guide that I linked to doesn't explain what to do after initial installation, which I am guessing the next step is to modify the EFI partition on the main hard drive so that it can boot from there as well as resolve the issues I'm seeing. If someone could point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

Dual Boot Windows 10 & High Sierra Question

Hi guys,

Without getting into the details too much in my system I wanted to ask the community if they might know the answer, or if it's a quick fix. I had a stable system running of High Sierra on a separate HD, and then I decided to add another drive and give the dual boot system a try. I got my Windows 10 install going on a separate HD from the mac OS - but I forgot to disconnect my Mac OS HD during installation and my clover bootloader is gone. I can't get back into the mac - i tried physically disconnecting the drive the windows was installed on, and I also tried a bunch of different bios options.

Is there a quick fix for this? Or do I start completely over? And if I start completely over does anyone know where to find High Sierra? It's not in the app store anymore - it's mojave. Or if you need more information about my system - I guess I can figure that out. lol

PLEASE HELP! (New to hackintosing)

I have an old computer, motherboard being Asus P5E3 PRO with a core 2 quad q9550 in. For graphics I have a gtx 720ti OR ATI 1600PRO graphics card. I am using a SSD for macOS. I successfully installed macOS to my SSD through the usb installer, (or at least I think I did) and it all went well. Then, when it was time to restart, it restarted, I unplugged the usb and then waited. It turned on, and then there is just a flickering cursor on the screen, with no indication of booting up. I have had a look around, and I just can't understand what they are on about. If somebody could give advice or assistance that would be amazing help! Also, I can give screenshots or pictures if nessessary. Thanks, Tom.

Nvidia rant. Suggestions?

Like many long time Nvidia users I am both frustrated and frankly surprised at the ridiculous lack of support for my GTX 970 on Mojave. I have a fully working hackintosh which I use exclusively for coding and some minor graphics editing and design (full stack stuff) I am forced to run Mojave instead of High Sierra to remain in compliance with my companies Xcode standards. Have been making due with the fix that ports over drivers from high Sierra but the lack of acceleration makes it almost unbearable. I added a higher resolution monitor to the mix and now I might as well code blind. As someone who simply can’t transition to windows for the time being or even Linux for that matter (IOS development reasons), was wondering what AMD card would make sense. I’m trying to sell my 970 and get something equivalent at around the same price which yes, is pretty low end but I don’t need a crazy GPU I don’t game. What do y’all recommend that has near perfect comparability right now?

Compal to Assemble New iPad Mini [Report]

Compal has landed orders to assemble Apple's new iPad mini, according to a DigiTimes report. Apple is expected to unveil a cheaper iPad mini 'as early as this spring' alongside a new 10-inch entry-level iPad.

Compal is now also among major contract producers of Apple's iPads, and is expected to ramp up its iPad shipments after Apple releases iPad Mini models later in 2019, the sources added.

The company inaugurated a new plant in Chongqing, China last year and is building a second fab there which should open in the second half of 2019.

Old Amd gpu for Mojave?

I got a pc for free, which I plan to use as a tv pc. Specs are:

-Intel 3rd gen i5 (non K) -16gb ram -Integrated graphics

Problem is to decide the gpu, since there fits only a low profile gpu and no possible to use riser card without too much work.

So my actual question is, can I use any (old-ish) Amd low profile gpu to get Mojave to work properly? My friend has one (don't remember the model) if he finds it.
