| Hi all, I’m using sonoma 14.5 on my MB Air 2015 and after some days of usage, the fan speed go very high on normal use case and all applications crash when I right click or press the arrow keys for some reason until I reboot but as you can imagine there’s a risk of losing unsaved changes upon a crash and it’s so frustrating. I’m wondering if this is a normal behaviour of OCLP although I wasn’t experiencing this on ventura. I’ve seen threads suggesting that it’s caused by spoofing but it’s already turned off. Please help me out. Thanks. [link] [comments] |

View AllImac 27 inch Mid 2011 i5
Hi guys! Really strange one!
Just downloaded the latest version of opencore, created a sonoma usb installer.
Rebooted imac from the open core menu, it rebooted but to a black screen.
It turns on, that I know, because if i keep pressing the enter key, it will play a sound as if field not accepting text.
If I keep the alt key pressed and turn it on .. still black. No light, no screen. Flashed my flashlight against the screen - nothing.
Option + cmd + P + R does nothing.
Any suggestions! Did I just brick this imac?
Thanks!

Issues with installing OpenCore Legacy on an iMac 2012
Hi,
Can anyone advise on how to resolve the issue with installing macOS Sonoma on my iMac? I have a 27" iMac Late 2012 with an Intel Core i7. I can't install OpenCore Legacy Patcher on it. I've already tried different versions of macOS and different versions of OpenCore Legacy Patcher, but nothing works. Initially, the installation goes smoothly for about 30 minutes; the iMac restarts several times, but at the final stage, after another restart, the progress bar stops moving, and the process freezes. Nothing happens, no matter how long I wait. I can only turn off the iMac with the power button, and after turning it on again, the process freezes immediately. I had the same issue before with my 2012 MacBook. I can use this same USB drive without issues on another iMac, but I can't get the new macOS to install on this one. Can anyone suggest what might be the problem?

MBP late 2017/OCLP 2.0.2 - boots when power is plugged in
My MacBook Pro is booting up (from full shutdown) the second I plug in the power adapter.
And when closing the lid, when power is plugged in; it won't go to sleep:
OCLP 2.02
MacBook Pro "Core i7" 2.6 15", late 2016 (Model A1707)
OS: Sonoma
when it's on battery, there is no issue.
I tried to select the "Hibernation Work-around' in OCLP (and then build Build and Install to disk)
but that didn't solve it
anyone had the same problem?
thx

Should I update to latest OCLP version?
Running a 2010 Mac Pro 5,1 with Monterey booting from an nvme, and Windows 11 from a separate SSD. I installed it onto the machine during OCLP 1.5 and have not updated my OCLP since. Everything has been working perfectly.
My question is, would I benefit from updating to the latest version of OpenCore? Since it prompts me to update every time I boot up Monterey. Or if everything is working fine, should I not take the risk of something breaking after updating OCLP, since I'm not planning on upgrading my OS?

Logic
Hi all I've recently got into the world of hackitosh software on my pc,all seems ok, I've only had quick look at it and seems functional,I'm not to bothered with Bluetooth or WiFi not working as it did work on Ethernet,I'm a Windows guy..the reason for me get a hackitosh up and running is I want to have a go at Logic pro and need macOS software to run it,my questions are can I go to app store and download load it without a apple id,is possible to just download load it on Windows and then run the file back on the hackitosh ..if all goes well I'm more than happy to buy logic pro and a 2nd hand macbook..I can see that having a hackitosh is not straightforward and needs looking after, any help and information would be appreciated

Help: MBP'12 booting into language interface --> Monterey
Trying very hard for the past three days to upgrade my MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012) Intel HD, 16GB ram, 500GB SSD, intel core i7 from Catalina 10.15.7. to Monterey. I am using OCLP version 2.0.2. The installer file is saved to my WD My Passport external drive (1TB size), which I reformatted to APFS/ GUID schema. I installed OpenCore to the SSD (and am aware all is going to be erased).
Upon rebooting I immediately press the option key, and eventually end up on the language interface (see my screenshots in the comments below). I have tried 8 times now, and it is always the language interface. I have scoured the net and don't see anyone who is stuck on this page, please help!

Can't boot into gray macOS Boot Selector - MBP (Retina, Mid 2012) --> Monterey
| | I have a MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012) Intel HD, 16GB ram, 500GB SSD, intel core i7 running Catalina 10.15.7. and am using OCLP version 2.0.2. I saved the installer file for Monterey onto my WD My Passport external drive (1TB size). It went through the copying process like a gem, and tells me in the end that all was installed successfully, I also installed OpenCore to the SSD (I did a full time machine backup and am aware all is going to be erased). Upon reboot I immediately press the option key, and see the screenshots pasted below, eventually I land in the language interface as pictured on the pre-ultimate screenshot. I also noticed it says everywhere that when pressing option, the screen I see should be gray, but mine is black throughout, not sure if that matters. Anyway I break things off when I see the language interface because that is clearly wrong. I have tried this 20 times (yes, I counted), and forced a friend to do it too (after all, how hard can it be to press an option key right?). And we keep seeing the same, please help :( [link] [comments] |
I HAVE NO CLUE WHAT TO DO
So today. I used opencore to download sequoia and the install all went fine. But unfortunately I have have no WiFi or anyway to connect. I done some research and I need to do root patches. I have absolutely no way of doing this the app isn't installed. I cannot install it. Anyone have any recommendations. I've tried to do internet recovery which just fails as soon as I connect to WiFi.

Clone copy Sequoia from drive to drive with OCLP
Hi patchers
I installed Sequoia on an external drive with OCLP just for testing. Now that I know for sure that everything runs smoothly I want to clone copy the external disk onto my internal drive.
I followed the steps advised in some YT videos, I copied the whole drive onto the internal one with CCC and then, with MountEFI I copied the EFI folders, but when I boot it I get three options with the terminal icon, BootKicker, OpenShell.efi and Reset NVRAM.
What am I doing wrong?
I must admit that those tutorials were for Sonoma but I don't think it is much different.. is it?
Thank you

I gave up on my MBP
This post is not to discourage people from using OpenCoreLegacyPatcher, because honestly, this thing is great, kudos to the creators.
However, in my experience, my MBP from 2015 with 16GB of RAM, has had quite some issues performance slowness, specially with the image processing, freezing a lot, and sometimes apps won't work well or will stop responding at minimal tasks. This is just my experience and I am going back to Monterey, hopefully I can try OCLP later when I am unable to do anything with Monterey or app support is gone.
Thank you for those who made this possible, you really a genius at what you do!
For those who haven't had issues with OCLP on their MBP from 2015, pls keep using it, it's just my machine maybe and I am okay with deleting the content on my SSD.
Cheers!

Screen Resolution - stuck with it being 2880*1800 for a 47inch unknown display
Hello - was using this as a little idea after finding a 2.2 Quad-Core i7 in a cupboard at work. Got Monterrey running on it fine but then, through not paying attention or being familiar with macOS ended up right into Sequoia 15.1. At this point it the screen resolution got things wrong and the text is very small. It says the Graphics is Display 20MB. Can someone point me in the direction of how to fix this. Otherwise its running really well.
When I click on Show all resolutions there are no additional options to change this. Color profile is Unknown Display. The desktop cant show any Wallpaper.
Thanks

Cannot sign in after OCLP install
I installed 2.0.2 OCLP and Sonoma 14.7 on my 2017 Macbook Pro 15” with touchbar and Spanish keyboard (MacBookPro14,3). The install went without a glitch.
However, I cannot sign into my Apple account. It takes ID and password, but nothing happens.
Then I continued the install skipping this step for later.
But I cannot sign in. I cannot sign into App store either.
Redid install. Same thing.
Downgraded to non-OCLP Ventura, and I can sign in.
I tried OCLP with Sonoma 14.0, and same thing happens. I cannot sign in.
Does anyone know what is causing this, or how to fix it?

Installing New OS from internal HD
Hey friends, new here, I just didn't want to mess anything up. I am currently on my 2011 MacBook Pro with 8GB Ram and integrally SSD, its running great but I wanted to get it updated to a newer OS. So of course I have downloaded and built Sequoia on a USB stick, however I'm using a Kanex DisplayPort USB dongle since the two USB inputs on this MacBook are fried. So I am not sure if this is going to work. Due to how it powers up and runs, I didn't see the openlegacy patch when I went to boot it from the drive, it was just my normal hard drive and a backup boot that showed up. So I think I have installed the Sequoia OS on my internal hard drive, as its showing up in my launch pad with the apps. Wondering if I can run this install, or if I could get the patcher on to an SD card. Let me know how to proceed, wanted to get this Mac running my home automation and likely run home bridge on it, but I need to get a newer OS to do that. Thanks for any help in advance.

Catalina to Sequoia: MBP mid-2012. Erase hard drive vs Install Sequoia
Newbie to OCLP: I'm going to install Sequoia on my mid-2012 MBP, currently running Catalina.
The video tutorial I've watched mentioned that erasing the hard drive and doing a fresh install would give a better experience than opting for the "Install Sequoia" option after booting from the USB installer. They didn't expand on the reasons for this, but I'm inclined to do the same.
However, there are certain files, folders, media libraries (Photos and iTunes Media), Apps, and settings that I would ideally like to retain without setting them up afresh (for example, all my browser settings, Karabiner-Elements settings, Logitech App settings etc).
If I have a Time Machine backup of my current Catalina set up (I might also copy my hard-drive onto a spare HDD too), will it be possible to do the hard-drive erase and clean install, and then get the Catalina Time Machine backup to get the things I want across to the new install?
And as a side note, does this seem the better way of doing it, rather than just going with the "Install Sequoia" option and keeping everything as it is...

Recommended process for MacOS updates?
A question that is best overcautious, at worst dumb, but I couldn't find anything in the documentation. Once OCLP has been applied, is updating MacOS using the native Software Update process recommended, or should one download the complete installer, patch it and install it as per the original OCLP process?
