2012 Mac mini with 2.3 GHz i7, 16 gb RAM and SSD runs hot with fans almost constantly on

I've installed Sequoia 15.4 on my Mac mini late 2012 and I found it runs quite hot with fans spinning up when I'm opening a new webpage (Safari) or an app (like Signal). Is it an expected behavior considering the age of the hardware? I am okay with it as long as it is normal!

Got Universal Control to finally work. Don't forget to Sign out and sign back in your account!

I picked up an ipad air M1 and wanted to try some of the newer features on my 2015 MBP such as universal control. I went through the Githubs and forums and I could NEVER get it to work. It was driving me crazy! It wasn't until I logged out and logged back in on my apple account that it finally worked! Just FYI for anyone else struggling to get this to work. The iPAD makes a great second screen with universal control! Sidecar is very choppy on my 2015 MBP

Sims 4 on iMac A1419 with OCLP

Hey, I’ve been using my 2013 iMac to play the Sims 4 and has been running decently good with sequoia. The thing is that when I tried to play on its last supported os(catalina) i realized it runs vastly better.

I understand Sequoia is still in development for oclp, and so I was wondering: is there any other os further than Catalina which could give me the same running?

Im Asking because I’m pretty sure there’s like a patch for the graphics and all that, maybe in previous ones it will still be running natively in terms of graphics.

Thanks.

Hey there Reddit peeps

I have an iMac Late 2012 (13.1)

I've installed 2x8gig sticks of DDR3 1600, 128gig SSD and i7 3770 @ 3.4ghz

I really wanna try get Sonoma or even Sequoia installed, But I am even battling to even install Ventura now.

I keep getting the same error message,

"an error occurred while preparing the installation. try running this application again"

And in the log it shows the Following

"no compatibility bundle on this version of macos"

I have tried different OSX DMG files, from different sources and still it just not working. Tried all 3 DMG OS's and same errors above.

6,1 MacBook running Sequoia

6,1 MacBook running Sequoia

I recently got a 2009 MacBook for $20. It was filthy, had a swollen battery, was missing its bottom case, and wouldn't boot into an OS. I cleaned it up, swapped in an SSD, got a new battery, replaced the bottom case, and maxed it out to 8gb of RAM. Now I have it set up to dual boot Sequoia and Snow Leopard.

This thing has become my daily driver for basic browsing, writing, email, and text. I use my M4 for Adobe apps and other processor-heavy stuff. Sequoia works pretty well for browsing, email, texting, facetime, etc. It can be slow to boot and laggy at first, but once it's up and running it's great.

MacBook Pro 2014 - Which System is the Most Powerful?

I use MBP 2014 Iris only, maybe someone uses the same configuration, what system would you recommend to install?

Now I use Ventura, but I don't like how it works with the video card, I periodically get artifacts. Previously I tried to install Sonoma, but it crashed into an error during installation.

Losted OCLP boot icon on Mac bios

Hello everyone, can I help something? I went on my MBP 2014 in a safe mode, left it, and when starting, the MacOS launch icon through OCLP disappeared. Now the laptop freezes to 30% of the system load. Is it possible to somehow restore EFI or at least save all the data that is stored on it for pure reinstallation?

iPhone Mirroring not working on 2016 MacBook Pro with OpenCore (macOS Sequoia)

Hey everyone,
I’m using macOS Sequoia 15.4.1 on a 2016 MacBook Pro with OpenCore. When I try to mirror my iPhone to the Mac, it sends the pop-up to my phone, I enter the passcode, and then I get a message saying “Unable to Connect to iPhone.”

Both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are on. Has anyone gotten iPhone mirroring to work with OpenCore on an older Mac like this? Any tips?

Thanks in advance!

Mac just “died” for a reason unknown

Good day yall! I'm using MacBook Air early 2015, which I updated to Sonoma 14.7.5 through opencore, and everything was fine

Though today I tried to open a screenshot from main screen, and the app preview just froze. Then I restarted the Mac and now it's lagging like sh8t... the dock is black and with the strange white border, like everything's corrupted, though I didn't change everything and processes don't eat cpu

v.2.3.2 late 2013 Macbook Pro, Sequoia - Migration fail - fyi

Currently have Monterey running on stock SSD with the help of OCLP. Has worked flawlessly.

In an effort to squeeze some more life out of this machine, going to upgrade to newer NVMe M.2 SSD for quicker read/write speeds.

All data, user account is on internal (original) SSD, as well as in a TimeMachine backup on USB drive.

New drive installed in external case, currently hooked up by USB. Once this drive is setup correctly, I'll swap it into the machine as the internal/main boot drive. Unfortunately there's no cost effective way to use original SSD as an external drive.

Install fresh Sequoia install to new/external SSD was no issue. Booted with lack of WiFi and high resolution, unknown display. Post install patches too care of WiFi. Reboot. Did an NVRAM reset on reboot for the "why not?" factor. After reboot, connected to WiFi, OCLP asked to install, and it downloaded the necessary Metal dependencies. Rebooted after it did its thing. Seemed like a flawless, clean install after that.

I poked around for a bit. The OS got noticeably quicker, as expected, after some usage. Everything I tested worked.

Last step: run migration assistant to copy user from old, internal SSD. Failed. Loops at the end of process.

Same failure if using migration assistant during OS install process.

Same failure when trying Migration Assistant if Revert Root Patches is done on old, internal SSD prior to last boot from it prior to OS install on new external drive, as well as not applying Root Patches after OS install to new external drive before running migration assistant.

Had to give up on Sequoia for now as I don't wish to manually migrate through copy-paste of files and folders.

Cloned internal to external using SuperDuper. Old Monterey OS, now running off of new SSD, swapped as internal drive now.

The only other thing I could think of was to clone the drive, have Monterey running, then actually try and upgrade the OS (no clean install). But that seems bonkers. Just too many versions in-between. If it were natively supported OS's, I'd try it across multiple major versions, but the potential errors when it's unsupported OS's seems like a waste of time.

Anyhoo, the Sequoia Migration Assistant is a known issue. I'm just posting my experience(s) in case it helps anybody to either not waste their time trying what I did, or come up with an alternative and working method to use migration assistant in this scenario.

Cheers.

Does Low power mode work on unsupported Macs through spoofing?

I got low power mode to show up on my 2015 13 in MBP after trying to get universal control to work by spoofing to a more modern mac. Universal Control is still not working but I noticed that I have low power mode now. Does this mode actually work? Or is this something that is technically hardware limited (like the low power mode being a newer intel chipset requirement)?

Late 2011 MBP 17in - Can it go further than High Sierra?

Has anyone had success using Legacy Patcher to get one of these machines passed High Sierra?

MBP Late 2011 17inch w/ 2.4 i7 8GB Ram 500GB SSD. Runs like a top on High Sierra, don't mind running a classic machine for simple tasks, but am interested in taking it up a notch, maxing RAM out to 16GB and running a more modern OS.

It's specifically left out of the supported devices. The early 2011 17in model is listed as supported, but not the late 2011 model, any insight to the difference here?

TIA

Cannot create Github issue, keeps saying "Unable to create issue" without any other explanation

I've correctly (and fully!) filled in all the fields it wants to, and answered all questions correctly as well. I have no idea whether there is something in the content I wrote (I didn't link outside github's project or anything) or whether the interface has a bug

Anyone here from the devs (or someone else) who can shed some light?

I've hit what looks like a bug.

IMAC INTERNAL HD CORRUPTED ON INSTALLATION

IMAC INTERNAL HD CORRUPTED ON INSTALLATION

I was formatting my Imac 2015 using OpenCore until in the middle of the installation an error occurred and the imac crashed with a corrupt HD. I've tried to reform it through Disk Manager, but it just doesn't appear.

I would like to ask for help to correct this error without having to call a technician because I am Brazilian here and any maintenance related to Apple is very expensive. I also wanted to know how I can prevent this “HD corruption” from occurring again in OpenCore installations.

iMac 13,2 keeps going into recovery mode when trying install OCLP

Hi, I own a late 2013 iMac 21” and have successfully used OCLP to upgrade that to Sequoia.

However, I am now trying to upgrade a 27 inch 2012 iMac, but every-time I click on “EFI boot” when using an OCLP installer usb, and then “Install MacOS Sequoia, the I see the apple logo with a progress bar which then goes into Mac recovery mode. I am unable to choose the disk to actually install from.

I have tried this with multiple different USB sticks, and even made installers of Ventura and Sonoma as well, but same end result. The iMac has an Nvidia GTX 680 and 32GB ram. Have been at this for almost 8 hours now, if anyone has any ideas as to what may be causing it or how I could get it to work I would be endlessly grateful. TIA!

Sonoma on MacPro 4.1 - sudden display, system response and speed Issues

Installed Sonoma on a MacPro 4.1 (Early 2009) - everthing looks good. Today when I was configuring update in the system setting the system stopped for some time until I finally was able to quit system settings. After a reboot the system behaves very strange - during startup the sonoma landscape increased brightness in slow steps. After startup the desktop was in white with very bad readability / poor contrast (instead of the sonoma landscape shown before) and reacts slow and stuttering to mouse movements. It was impossible to change display settings. The system is nearly not usable anymore.

I had this issue before - tried to reinstall the system using the same installer stick I used to do the first install but get an error message that the system is newer than the installer. Then used Carbon Copy Cloner to transfer the SSD to another one, but the copy does not start. But on the copy I was able to reinstall the system using the same installer stick and install Open Core Patcher again and got it working untill todays problem occured again.

My question - does anybody observed similar issues ? Any Idea to avoid that ? A better fix instead of CCC / reinstall .. ? Already tried the usual things like resetting PRAM ..

No Wi-Fi After macOS Sequoia Update, Missing KDK for Post-Patch

Mid 2015 MBP Issues

So I bought a Mid 2015 i7 MBP and went through the OCLP up to Sonoma 14.7.5 and everything was great for a few weeks until this morning.

The system is really sluggish and not doing simple things like displaying the wallpaper.

It is also saying I can take the OTA update to Sequoia.

Questions

  • Any reason why is should just go off a cliff performance wise
    • I have uninstalled the last few apps I added just in case (GDrive add-in and Sheets\Docs)
  • Can I take the OTA or would I need to go through the OCLP path for Update to Sequoia to see if it would fix it?
