downgrading from tahoe
Image
I have my data and apps backed up to a Sequoia USB hard drive after mistakenly upgrading to Tahoe, and i used Carbon Copy Cloner, then erased tahoe and reinstalled Sequoia on the SSD hard disk, but restoring broke sudo and my password, making the system unbootable. Any good way to restore? i’m looking for data, apps, virtual machines, customizations and brew tools. submitted by /u/Yucky-Not-Ready [link] [comments] [► Source]
iMac 14.2 Sequoia latest ocpl no Camera
Image
So my Mac started a while back not displaying anything of every app that uses the camera even apple ones. The system recognises the FaceTime camera but it displays a black screen. A temporary fix is to repatch the system and reboot but every time I boot again it has a black screen. submitted by /u/Famous_Worldliness52 [link] [comments] [► Source]
How to downgrade Safari from 26 to 18 on Sequoia 15.7.1?
Image
So i installed MacOS Sequoia 15.7.1 via OCLP successfully. All was well but a couple of days later, I stupidly updated Safari from 18 to 26. Safari has been slow and buggy. How can i downgrade Safari back to v18? I read online that users have just reinstall Sequoia via the App store (as below) but seeing that I installed it via OCLP, could anyone advise if its safe to install via the App store OR is there another correct way? macOS Sonoma/Ventura installation fails at “14 minutes remaining” on MacBook Pro 13" Early 2011 (MacBookPro8,1)
Image
Hi everyone, I’m trying to install macOS Sonoma or Ventura on my MacBook Pro 13" Early 2011 (MacBookPro8,1) using OpenCore Legacy Patcher (v2.4.1). When the laptop still had its original HDD and 4 GB RAM, Sonoma installed and ran successfully. After upgrading the hardware to 16 GB DDR3-1333 (2×8 GB) and a new 256 GB SATA III SSD , the installation now consistently fails. Every attempt to install Sonoma or Ventura stops at around “14 minutes remaining” with the following error message: "An error occurred while loading the update" After the error, the SSD disappears from Disk Utility until I reboot. Once rebooted, it shows up again as normal. Here’s what I’ve confirmed: Booting through EFI Boot (OCLP) SSD formatted as APFS, GUID Partition Map System date and time are correct The USB installer was freshly created and verified on another Mac The same USB installer successfully installs macOS on a different drive Both Sonoma and Ventura fail in the exact same...
Apple watch

Hi everyone! Recently I was able to use OCLP to upgrade my mom's old Macbook Air, which was previously pretty much dead and stuck on Mavericks. I also happen to own a series 0 Apple Watch which hasn't had a lot of use lately due to it being severely outdated. So I was wondering if there's anyhing OCLP-adjacent to upgrade WatchOS to a newer version on an older watch. Anyone pointers on what I could or should do would be greatly appreciated. submitted by /u/chicothebad [link] [comments] [► Source]

Can't Login into macOS after Linux install
Image
I have a MacBook 7,2 with macOS Sequioa, also with a dual boot with windows which both have worked fine. I then splitted my main partition to have a partition for Linux Mint which I then installed successfully. Before I configured my EFI before insatlling Linux Mint so that it shows up in the Open Core Boot Menu. Now when I boot up and choose macOS, it shows me the macOS Login-Screen, but after entering my password nothing happens and there is just an empty screen with my profile photo and the wallpaper. I reckon I somehow got locked out of my macOS filesystem? I am pretty clueless what to do, since it's a quite special combination of aspects my Laptop has so I hope you guys have an idea. I can access the EFI partition from my Linux Mint so I reckon I have to change some settings from there? I'll be totally glad for any tips!! submitted by /u/LeonidasPrimus [link] [comments] [► Source]

Monterey on iMac 2011: How important is it to upgrade to SSD?
Image
Hi guys, I'm reallly looking to update from High Sierra to Monterey bc a lot of programs wont work anymore. I have a 500Gb HDD and 20Gb of RAM. I have read somewhere that I should upgrade to SSD but I'm honestly unsure if I have the skills to do that (I can play software, not hardware). I kinda want to understand how crucial it is to upgrade, like, if I stick to my HDD what sort of problems can I have? Thanks so much! submitted by /u/LeBateleur1 [link] [comments] [► Source]

NEED HELP!!!
Image
I have a late 2013 MacBook Pro, and I installed OCLP so I could install macOS sequoia. I managed to install Sequoia, but got greedy and I updated to macOS 26 from the system settings. I restarted the computer and I can see it’s macOS 26 but my mouse is locked in position in the upper left corner of my screen, and I cannot type my password because the keyboard is blocked as well. I tried, to reinstall macOS sequoia using the EFI, but after he accepts my request to install macOS Sequoia, he asks me where do I want to install it, and I cannot install it on the disk because of an error (photo). I’ve tried with Internet recovery, but it won’t install macOS X, so I can’t go back. Is there a way to save my Mac or do I have to erase the disk and try again (I really would not want that unless strictly necessary). Is there a way to save the disc? Is there a way to unblock my mouse and keyboard in the macOS 26 loading password page? submitted by /u/Acceptable_Risk4626 [link]...

I installed sequoia on my 2014 Mac mini and it flies but I have a problem. Is there a solution to that? Upgrading late 2012 iMac to Monterey
Image
So my main SSD drive internal is 120GB and I don't have external USB stick at all and cannot get one for now. I managed to download Monterey from OCLP then partition my SSD drive 20GB, Mac OS Extended Journaled and then build the installer inside it then in recovery mode when I install it it said my main volume needs an additional of 6GB so I did that then it now says "This update cannot be installed on this computer". I've even rebuilt and installed OpenCore and same message and the dual booting doesn't show when I select EFI Boot but the installer shows near EFI Boot so I click it and it takes me to Recovery Mode I had this idea that I haven't tried yet but you guys can comment on it: Erasing the 'Container disk1' in my SSD drive then installing Monterey, not sure if it will fix and make it work or not. Can someone please help? https://reddit.com/link/1ojep0p/video/8bg0uim7v3yf1/player https://reddit.com/link/1ojep0p/video/heaxpnw7v3yf1/player ...
How to lock in sn OS?
Image
I just recently installed macOS Ventura on my mid-2012 MacBook Pro. It features a 500 GB SSD and 16 GB of RAM, allowing it to run Ventura very well. I did this a few years ago, and it prompted me to upgrade to Sequoia, which I did, and it slowed it down quite a bit. How do I prevent the system from prompting me to upgrade to Sequoia? I don’t mind getting all the updates for Ventura, but I don’t want to upgrade to Sequoia. submitted by /u/Technical-Wallaby [link] [comments] [► Source]

How to update a mid-2012 MBP (13”, i7, 16gb RAM, 1tb SSD) that already has OS Monterrey from an old version of OCLP? Also thoughts on running Sonoma on 2015 MBP (13”, i7) and 2017 5K iMac (27”, i7)?
Image
I used OCLP to install Monterrey on a 2012 MacBook Pro (13”, i7, 16gb RAM, 1tb SSD) about four years ago. I also have a 2015 MBP with the same specs, and a 2017 5K Retina iMac (27”, 40gb RAM, 1tb SSD) that are both on Monterrey too. I am thinking of bringing all three Macs up to Sonoma specifically so I can use a more recent version of Final Cut Pro (11.1+) and related plugins (and possibly also to use Resolve). I know that the ‘AI’ functions won’t work, but lots of other more recent functions will. 1) How do I update my 2012 MBP that already has an old version of OCLP on it from late 2021? Do I need to remove or replace that old version of OCLP before I can install Sonoma? 2) How well does Sonoma run on these three machines, specifically for FCP? I edit projects from an external SSD, and use the Macs just for Mail, web browsing, Pages, Numbers, Keynote, and some Photoshop (and I might start using Resolve). Thanks! submitted by /u/Elbow2020 [link] [comments] ...

New to this and unable to navigate technical terms: Want to understand how it works and future
Image
Basically the title, I am very limited tech knowledge and want to learn more about OCLP. I am still not able to understand (after a couple of videos and post) is the following: How does it work in backend (in intuitive terms)? Does it keep old and update OS and picks most stable one? Does it sort of trick the updates into assuming the device is compatible? I read a lot of articles that support after Tahoe might not be there due to no support for Intel macs. What becomes a challenge with supporting post that? Is there any good YT video or guide that you could suggest? Something that explains it in a bit simpler language so that I can dig deeper later. submitted by /u/kaffeinezombie [link] [comments] [► Source]

What are your suggestions on installing MacOS Ventura using OpenCore Legacy on a MBA 2017?
Image
Hello OCLP community! I’m looking for some suggestions on installing MacOS 13 Ventura using OpenCore Legacy on a 2017 MacBook Air (Model A1466). I’ve heard it’s best to have a small partition for MacOS Monterey (the last regular supported version of MacOS on this Mac), and use the rest of the 256 GB drive for Ventura. How big should I make that Monterey partition? This is not my actual computer, this is just to get some work done on Logic Pro X. Also anything important to know about this process? submitted by /u/Beginning-Try3200 [link] [comments] [► Source]
