What's new in the hackintoshing world? Need a quick primer

Hey folks, I've been out of the game for 4 years now and need to wipe my hackintosh clean and start from scratch. I'm on 10.11 using Clover. Anything I should look out for? Any new technologies? How much config can I carry over from my current install? I'm not looking for a tutorial but looking for a direction and conversation. Thanks for any help! Remounting Bootloader
Image
So I have a dual boot system (Gigabyte B250M DS3H, I7 7700 non K, GTX 780). The system had both Sierra and Windows 10 installed on it. It would always boot to the clover boot loader and from there I would choose my desired OS. I was reformatting drives earlier and had to disconnect my SSD with both OS’s on it. I’ve since reconnected it but now my motherboard no longer recognizes the clover partition as a boot option. It only shows the windows boot manager. Any idea on how I can remount Clover so my motherboard recognizes it? submitted by /u/TheSerialTaco [link] [comments] [► Source]

USBInjectAll + XHCI200SeriesInjector?
Image
Hey guys, I'm trying to get USB working on my Hack. I'm trying to use a USB3 external hard drive but whenever I plug it in, it spins up, lights up, but doesn't mount or even show up in Disk Utility. So far, I've tried: applying port limit patch in Clover (both in config.plist and Clover Configurator) installing USBInjectAll + XHCI200SeriesInjector applying port limit patch using MultiBeast as per a youtube video installing the usbinjectall + xhci200seriesinjector in L/E Booting in Verbose Mode gives me this: Notice - new kext org.rehabman.injector.200-series-XHCI, v0.5 matches prelinked kext but can't determine if executables are the same (no UUIDs). Refusing new kext org.rehabman.driver.USBInjectAll, v0.6.3: already have prelinked v0.6.2. A bit later in verbose, i see this: 000001.559116 AHC@1400000000: AppleUSBXHCIPCI::CreatePorts: ports limit reached, not creating remaining 11 ports How can I go about fixing this? submitted by /u/UnpredictableMC [link] [c...

Does High Sierra run like hot garbage for anyone else?
Image
Hey guys, so 10.12.6 was fairly stable for me and I wanted to stay on it until HS was at maybe 10.13.4 or .5 as I usually do with major releases. But I was having issues with Sierra and thought going to HS would resolve my constant restart issues (due to graphical glitch). So it turns out HS is so shitty that even on my legit 2017 MacBook Pro it runs like hot garbage. I'm mostly in Adobe apps all day long so excuse me if you don't fit in this category. After multiple weeks of troubleshooting its finally done. Specs: i5 5200U, HD 5500, 4Gb (upgraded now to 8), 500 Gb HDD Swapped out the wifi chip for a Dell DW1510, now wifi works OOB. For the HD5500 i set the ig platform id to 0x16260006 and the SMBIOS to Macbookpro12,1. Nightshift works OOB. For Bluetooth im using a dongle since i dont really need it. Sound is working too, either via speakers and via the jack. VGA and HDMI ports are also working perfeclty. Got help from 2 people doing this, since im a total noob. Question about Time Machine
Image
I am going to retry my High Sierra Hackintosh install, follow the Vanilla method this time, but before doing so I wanted to ask about Time Machine. My current High Sierra installation was using the Multibeast + Unibeast method, and I am now worried that since Time Machine already created a backup, it had to have backed up the things Multibeast and Unibeast performed, correct? For instance, when I installed High Sierra, Time Machine was able to restore old themes I had running on El Capitan's clover boot screen. Is there any way I can perhaps go in and clean up the MultiBeast+UniBeast stuff from my Time Machine restore to truly make it a "vanilla" restore? Or perhaps another method to currently backup my existing data before I start the entire fresh install? One final question: Would the "fresh install" listed on hackintosher.com suffice for a "vanilla" install? submitted by /u/GiantsJets [link] [comments] [► Source]
Accidental Update to High Sierra
Image
Hello folks, I recently built a couple of Hackintoshs for an older couple that I'm friends with. They are running Sierra on an i3-7100 using Intel gfx on a Gigabyte H270n WiFi board with a Samsung SSD. The computers were both running perfectly fine, having followed portions of this guide and using the kexts recommended there too. However, the wife accidentally updated her computer to High Sierra and her computer evidently will not boot. As I understand it, it is not necessarily hard to fix the update and run HS but the computers are currently located a couple states away since this couple prefers to live elsewhere during the winter. What do you guys recommend as the simplest way to fix this, either by backdating or updating or whatever, since I cannot access the broken computer on site or through remote? I am relatively new to Hackintosh but solidly tech capable. I may have some aid through a visiting relative that is techy to some degree and can act as onsite. Thanks guys! subm...
Black screen after apple logo
Image
First time building a hackintosh and I followed the tony guide as closely as I could. Disabled VT-d, XMP profile 1, CFG-Lock (couldn't find), Secure Boot Mode (Couldn't find), OS Type is set to Other OS, IO Serial Port (couldn't find), XHCI Handoff (couldn't find). Made my usb stick with unibeast/clover and when I load the usb it gives me the option to run the usb at the clover screen. I press it and it runs the apple logo, but once it loads it goes to a black screen and never goes away. I tried putting -v & -f and it still goes to the black screen. Not sure what to do at this point. Specs: i7 4790k, Z97X Gaming 7, r9 390x submitted by /u/IlIlIlIIilIlililIli [link] [comments] [► Source]
How compatible is my current PC?
Image
EDIT: OSX = macOS if that's confusing at all I'm a CS major and like to do a lot of coding in different areas, and want to start learning iOS development, so I need a computer that runs OSX. I'm going to try and get myself a new Macbook Pro, but that's not really in the budget right now so I want to know if my current desktop is compatible (if so, to what degree) to be turned into a Hackintosh. I'd like to be able to dual-boot Windows 10 and OSX (whatever most recent version is most compatible) and each OS would be installed on a separate Samsung SSD. I've done a little bit of research into building a Hackintosh before but I wouldn't consider myself an expert so I hope I can get some help from the community here. So without further adieu, here are my current hardware specs: CPU: Intel i7-7800X Motherboard: MSI X299 Raider GPU: Nvidia GTX 1070Ti (recent upgrade from GTX 970) RAM: 16GB DDR4 (I forget the clock speed off the top of my head) Network card: Some T...

New High Sierra install, issues with Sleep+Shut Down
Image
For my desktop Hackintosh (system specs listed in signature), I am experiencing an issue where once I put my machine to sleep or even opt to shut it down I get the message "You shut down your computer because of a problem". This problem only started once I did a clean install of High Sierra using Unibeast + Multibeast. I never experienced issues with sleep nor shut down with Mavericks, Yosemite, and El Capitan. I tried the "FixShutdown" and darkwake=0 via Clover configurator, but that, unfortunately, didn't help. One thing that I should mention that I am doing differently is in my previous Hackintoshes is having three of my monitors running directly from my GPU. In the past, I had used one monitor plugged into the internal GPU, and two plugged into the dedicated GPU. I am not entirely sure if this matters, but figured it is worth sharing. I also ended up disabling the internal GPU as it originally was causing issues for me when I originally was going through the...
