Magic Keyboard sometimes does not work after waking up iMac from sleep
Image
This happens randomly and it's super annoying, forces me to shut down the computer and power it back on every time it happens. Anybody experiencing the same? iMac 27" 5K late 2015 running all the latest and Sequoia submitted by /u/LandNo9424 [link] [comments] [► Source]
Macbook Pro 13 Inch 2015 act weird after few reboots
Image
i got very recently this macbook, and it was working fine until when i turned off and on again for few times over the course of like 2 days, it started acting really wrong, in short, the macbook is really snappy, switches between virtual desktops easily, i managed to have few tabs with a video playing, whatsapp, telegram and editing photos on Luminar (the program i use) with not a really big deal, now the macbook basically struggles to run, the wallpaper isn't there anymore and even changing it doesn't matter, animation are basically nonexistent, for the application panel (running sequoia with Opencore legagy) pops after few seconds, and all is incredibly slowed down, basically unusable, but with Stats open the usage of all the stuff is barely touching 60%, CPU after the initial startup gets very low, gpu not being used, 55% of ram ish, which is normal for the other days aswell and SSD at 35%, for contex. the SSD is the original one, i'm planning to change it, i haven't...

What os will run better on this MacBook?
Image
Hello I’m repairing this late 2011 MacBook Pro. I will upgrade the ram to 16GB and I already installed an SSD. I’m about to install sequoia on it but I don’t know if there is another os that would run better, let me know your recommendations. submitted by /u/Mountain_Table_3632 [link] [comments] [► Source]
Should I stay on ventura with my 2017 mbp i5 or upgrade?
Image
I have a 2017 macbook pro alongside my newer macbook air m1, should i stay on ventura or upgrade to sonoma? Ventura seems to work fine for me rn, heard the updates ended in november. Also just re-thermal pasted the cpu since it was overheating constantly before and now runs very cool to the touch. submitted by /u/Any_Hedgehog_5727 [link] [comments] [► Source]
Windows 11 on older Macs

I know Linux is woth installing on older Macs but I want to know is it a good idea to Windows 11 on an older MacBook either by boot camp or erase install? And how usable is Windows 11 on an older Mac like the 2012 MacBook Pro? submitted by /u/JailbreakHat [link] [comments] [► Source]
MacBook Air 2017 Lagging with sequoia
Image
Monterey 12.7.6 was the last official supported version for this Mac. Ventura & Sonoma worked fine but it started to get messy after installing sequoia. I turned off auto-software download options and kept only Security Responses on but still the system forces the new OS downloaded after which the whole becomes laggy as hell. Please tell me how can I fix this. I don’t want to factory reset the laptop again. submitted by /u/Madhav-Daga [link] [comments] [► Source]
2012/2014 Mac Mini - Decent performance with Sonoma/Sequoia in 2025?
Image
I scored a Mac Mini on ebay for $75 after shipping (at least, I originally thought it was a good deal) For some reason I thought I was buying the 2014 i7 version - I was going off the model number A1347, which is shared w the 2012 model. It's a 2012 i7 But it seems as though I might have lucked out because in terms of processing I guess the 2012 i7 quad-core is much better than the 2014 i7 dual? (i guess that should be obvi) Anyway, I'm just brainstorming - its 2012 i7 quad core, 16GB RAM, 500GB HDD but will replace that w SSD I feel like Sonoma would be a decent choice here, though maybe Sequoia would work just as good if i turn off the live wallpapers/screensavers I'm curious if anyone here the same machine, and could share some notes if they've tried out both Sonoma & Sequoia? I originally planned to use this as a bluebubbles server (my main/personal machine is Linux), but I also hope this would be usable for XCode (not for full development, just native buil...
Patcher not wanting to patch because of updates

It says it doesn't want to patch because an update is pending, but the pending update is 26.1 and is not yet supported. As far as I know, 15.7.2 is the latest version supported by OpenCore? submitted by /u/lucianfrits [link] [comments] [► Source]

Apple iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015)
Image
Hi everyone. We have an Apple iMac 27-inch Late 2015 and we have used OCLP to bump it to Sequoia. Now the issue is, this still used Thunderbolt 2 and I believe they have disable this in now in Sequoia and we still have some devices connect that are TB2. Is there any current workaround for it to get it working again or will I need to now go back to Sonoma that still has the working drivers? Resurrecting 2011 13" i7 MacBook Air 4gb ram 256gb ssd - OCLP advice
Image
Hi all I'm resurrecting my old 2011 13" MacBook Air i7 with 4gb ram and 256gb SSD to give to my brother for light business admin use. I've read so many threads re this, especially the low ram limitation but wondering whether with the benefit of added elapsed time since those older posts were made whether there's any further experience or advice to offer. Of course this machine ram cant be upgraded and little point upgrading the existing SSD, so I'm sticking with the spec and wondering, all things considered, which OCLP macOS to go for. I'm trying to balance security and up to dateness seeing as it's entirely for light business use, for which I'd guess Ventura would probably be the absolute limit as a workable OS on this ram limited machine, versus having a Mac that can actually cope a bit better under mostly light pressure work (email, web, prob some video watching, running iCloud data syncs etc, but no encoding or heavy stuff) without throwing a wo...
Happy 5th Birthday OpenCore Legacy Patcher!
Image
Today is OpenCore Legacy Patcher’s 5th birthday! On Dec 1, 2020, at exactly 12:08 CST, the very first 0.0.1 developer preview of OCLP was released to the public. I would like to take a moment to thank khronokernel, dhinakg & all the developers! Take a moment to read Khronokernel's (Mykola) wonderful OCLP retrospective article. You can learn more about the history of OCLP in one his last blogposts before he was hired by Apple. https://khronokernel.com/macos/2025/06/20/OCLP-RETROSPECTIVE.html I also made a retrospective thread on Twitter if you would like to take a look https://x.com/ClassicII_MrMac/status/1995555701691736149?s=20 Below is a list of all the people who have helped build and contribute to the OCLP project over the last 5 years! new to opencore and security questions
Image
Hello, I'm new to Open core and had some question son security, where does open core download the MacOS from and how secure is it to use for home use? I upgraded my old macbook and its working great but I'm nervous to log into the os with my apple id and enter my personal information without knowing what could be on it looking at my information. Does anyone have any information on how secure Open core patcher is? Thanks! submitted by /u/DrewDinDin [link] [comments] [► Source]
Anyone interested in a brand new battery/keyboard assembly for a 2015 15-inch?
Image
As the title says. I have a brand new battery and top case. Got it from Apple by using my 2015 to get a new battery under recall. Have the email of the repair for proof it’s Apple genuine. Figured I’d help someone out who is in DIRE need of a new battery and wouldn’t mind a whole top case to go with it. submitted by /u/Chaad420 [link] [comments] [► Source]

Did I screw up?
Image
2011 MacBook Pro downloaded sequoia. Unbelievably slow. Should it show this many hard drives? Probably a stupid question but this is beyond me. I ask because I had issues during booting and had to restart. submitted by /u/Countryrootsdb [link] [comments] [► Source]
Device not compatible with apps
Image
Have a MacBook Pro circa 2011. Need a ton of work apps that were not available with high sierra OS so I bootlegged Sequoia. Now when I try to download apps, they say not available for this device but don’t say why. It’s very basic apps like Microsoft teams and duo mobile. Is this a hardware issue or did I screw up the opencore process? submitted by /u/Countryrootsdb [link] [comments] [► Source]
Any way to make a macOS installer have certain settings already enabled after first boot?
Image
I frequently reinstall various versions of macOS on different older Macs and always end up changing a bunch of settings after each new install (disabling transparency; reducing motion; enabling tap-to-click; disabling Siri; etc.). It would be really nice if there was some kind of post-install script that could do all of these things after I install the OS. Not sure if any folks here know how to do this or if there'd be a way to bake this in to an OCLP installer? submitted by /u/WindozeWoes [link] [comments] [► Source]

Tahoe gets more and more proactive
Image
Just wanted to share this. My daughter’s MBP 2009 was on Sequoia 15.6.1 and, under iCloud, it still appears like this right now (see picture). Today I noticed that the current version was 15.7 and that is asking to complete Tahoe install. Download only was enabled (I believe I disabled everything but can’t be 100% sure… hard to believe this option got reactivated alone). Long story short, now the machine appears ready to install Tahoe and I even can’t upgrade to 15.7.2 like on all my other Macs. Should a 15.8 or any relevant upgrade be released for Sequoia, I’ll be obliged to re-install from scratch… knowing I’ll have from day one the reminder Tahoe is available. 🤦🏻‍♂️ Please, regularly have a look to your update settings! submitted by /u/LukeDuke74 [link] [comments] [► Source]

2013 MBP and Mac OS Tahoe

I just did the install for sequoia on my late 2013 MBP with i7 2.6 and 16gb of ram, however this morning when I went to turn it on it says I have the update available for Tahoe, am I able to do this or would I brick the system? Keyboard/mouse not working after Tahoe update? Try Safe Mode
Image
If your keyboard and mouse stopped working after updating to macOS Tahoe (you see the login screen but can’t type or click), try booting into Safe Mode: 1. Shut down your Mac completely 2. Turn it on and immediately hold the Shift key 3. Keep holding until you see the login screen In Safe Mode, keyboard and mouse should work. From there you can troubleshoot, backup your data, or at least figure out what’s going on before resorting to a full reinstall. This worked for me — hope it helps someone else. submitted by /u/spaisa101 [link] [comments] [► Source]
Big Sur on the 1st Gen 2009 MacBook Air

I can’t believe this actually worked, the install took almost 10 hours, it is extremely slow on the 2gb of RAM but it runs without real issues, Wi-Fi works. This is the SSD version and is still the slowest modern computer I’ve ever used and it is definitely not a usable computer but it’s cool that it even worked. submitted by /u/Abject_Form_2603 [link] [comments] [► Source]
