If your keyboard and mouse stopped working after updating to macOS Tahoe (you see the login screen but can’t type or click), try booting into Safe Mode: 1. Shut down your Mac completely 2. Turn it on and immediately hold the Shift key 3. Keep holding until you see the login screen In Safe Mode, keyboard and mouse should work. From there you can troubleshoot, backup your data, or at least figure out what’s going on before resorting to a full reinstall. This worked for me — hope it helps someone else.
