Battery issues with my macbook pro a1398 mid 2015
Image
Currently, I have an A1398 with Monterey 12.7.6. I changed its battery a few weeks ago. As far as I got this thing as a gift I can't tell you the previous experience. After installing the new battery, I got 3.5 hours for 70% of the charge. But after this, the battery performance started to drop. I barely get 1.5-1.9 hours max, but the battery performance is not the same every day. The day before yesterday, I got 3.5 hours doing the same work. I usually use discord, firefox with 4-5 tabs open, what's app and steam all these software run in the background. I went to the place from where I changed the battery they checked the battery and later said there's nothing wrong with the battery. There might be a problem with the Mac. Also, I am thinking to move to sequoia what's your opinion on this, let me know. submitted by /u/HYDRURBERG [link] [comments] [► Source]

Best MacOs for MacBook Air 2017 (i5, 8Gb RAM)?
Image
Hi, I've been introduced to the Mac world a week ago when I was given away a 13" MacBook Air 2017 in great condition except for the battery, which was just replaced with one from ifixit as the original was dead. The version running was Monterey but I did read about OpenCore Legacy Patcher. I updated to Sonoma and it seemed to work smoothly except that the battery drained faster than I would like (although I know the replacement battery is not going to be as reliable as the original one). Then I read some users here claiming that this model runs smoother with Sequoia than with Sonoma, but I've upgraded and in my experience is noticeably laggier and the battery goes down at the same pace or even slighly faster. I've always disabled Cloud, Siri, Bluetooth, AirDrop and other features than can be heavy on the battery). Am I doing anything wrong? I upgraded to Sequoia using OCLP but straight from Sonoma, I didn't go back to Monterey as a mid step. Could that change anyt...
Can’t update MacBook 17 air to recent sequoia

Need help updating my MacBook Air 2017
Image
My MacBook needed a sequoia software update to be able to run the most recent legacy patcher which allowed me to use wifi on my MacBook. Now that’s it’s outdated currently, the background for the homepage is white and I can’t connect to wifi to update the MacBook. Can someone help? (The progress bar was due to the hotspot on my phone and I ran out of data for that) submitted by /u/Gold-Metal-7602 [link] [comments] [► Source]
OCLP 2.4.1 issues on early 2013 MBP 10,2
Image
When i install and open 2.4.1 on my early 2013 MBP 10,2 "post install root patch" is greyed out, even after rebooting and selecting OCLP EFI this option is still greyed out. As a test if I got into system settings and check for software updates my MBP tells me I am up to date on Catalina 10.15.7 this tells me that OCLP isn't working and "fooling" my machine into thinking I can install Sonoma so I am afraid to proceed even though I have bootable USB ready to go etc. Any Mr Mackintosh video I watch on upgrading to Sonoma post install root patch is never greyed out even when he first installs the app. Any help or advice appreciated. submitted by /u/Dry_Recognition_1299 [link] [comments] [► Source]
Need help with a 15" MacBook Pro A1286
Image
Hi everyone, I installed OCLP on an old MacBook I lent to my sister a few years ago, and without realizing it, I disabled automatic updates in OCLP's settings. My sister received a macOS update notification and installed it without the patch. I'm certain that's the cause of the problem. Now, the screen remains black or white after the Apple logo appears, and I can't do anything about it without erasing the data. I can't apply the patch after the update because I no longer have access to the operating system. I may have tried reinstalling Sonoma, but I'm not sure. Do you have any ideas? FYI, I now have a 14" MacBook Pro M4 Pro for work 🥹 submitted by /u/Wise-Patient6388 [link] [comments] [► Source]
How do newer OS run?
Image
Basically, I was on this old Mac and I went on the app store and went, "OoOooOoOOh, Sequoia?" And realized—nevermind. This was due to me realizing the graphics card wasn't metal. Later, I saw a video of someone running Sequoia using OCLP to run the newest version and I wondered how do they run a newer OS on a non metal graphics card? submitted by /u/Bear-da-uranium-god [link] [comments] [► Source]
My Mac Pro 6,1 thinks it’s a 7,1 despite my OpenCore set to a 6,1. Why?

Linux vs macOS and windows (2013 iMac)

I just updated my 2015 Air to Sequia and the fans don’t stop temps above 70 Celcius
Image
I think I should go back to Sonoma, everything looks the same and it was much faster and snappier on it than it is now.. I don’t know.. fans used to be super wolant on Sonoma but on Sequia they run at around 2.7K rpm non stop and the temps are around 80 celcius while creating a Sonoma installer and watching YouTube. It it fine or should I rather go back ? submitted by /u/_Independent [link] [comments] [► Source]

App crashes by tapping a key
Image
On my MBA 2017 with Sequoia, sometimes it has this behavior: when I press a certain key such as left arrow or CMD+C (or other letter) that app crashes, also the finder. It also comes out, <App Name> quitted unexpectedly This happens also on iMac 27 2013 with Sequoia submitted by /u/quick_Supermario80 [link] [comments] [► Source]
Having problems with a 2012 Retina 15" Macbook Pro with macOS Monterey installed
Image
Hello! I installed Monterey a few months ago on my 2012 Retina 15" Macbook Pro via OCLP. It's mostly been great but in the fall it stopped booting up. When I looked at the bootup process in verbose mode I found that it was freezing at different points seemingly at random, so it was hard to diagnose what the problem was. On normal mode it would freeze about 1/4 or 1/5 into the progress bar loading process. I forget what I did, but after trying different boot procedures it ended up working and all was well until November. In November I was using the laptop as I normally would. While the Mega sync daemon was running I turned off the wi-fi card which caused the computer to crash. Since then it hasn't booted properly again. From forum posts, I uninstalled some OCLP-related .kext files with Terminal which has allowed me to be able to boot in safe mode. Of course it sucks running the operating system without any of the OCLP-provided drivers (installed during the OCLP post-ins...

Booting OpenCore but missing Internal drive components (?)
Image
Hello! This is my first time doing anything like this, I’m following a YouTube tutorial and have got to the part where I’m rebooting through the OLP Boot and ‘clearing’ the internal hard drive (I think). When I’m on Disc Utility, my Internal section looks different to the guys video and the OPL instructions. Have I done something wrong or can I go ahead? I’ve attached a photo of my screen, a screenshot of the OPL instructions and a link to the video below (13.00 minutes) https://youtu.be/u8ST8HUaL9w?si=5w0zyP9Jg5sdjMBI submitted by /u/michaelbrennan00 [link] [comments] [► Source]
should I put Sonoma or Sequoia on 2017 MacBook Pro
Image
I bought a 2017 MacBook Pro 8GB RAM 128GB SSD i5 2.3GHz that is coming next week and I wanted to put a MacOS version that would support my video editing apps and older Minecraft Java games well. I know Ventura still would work well but I also know It wont last very long, so I'm wondering would Sonoma or Sequoia be better for this machine? submitted by /u/Dorbio-Official [link] [comments] [► Source]
Help with 15 year old MacBook Pro
Image
help with 15 year old MacBook Pro. I have an almost 15 year old MacBookpro. At some point, I updated its RAM. Then at some point it was not able to retain charge so I could not use it without plugging in. I did not use it for many years after that. Finally I decided to give it away and in my zeal to format it and remove my files, I think I completely deleted OS or did something very wrong. Right now, I can turn it on, connect to wifi account, update time and date using command prompt. But it keeps giving pop up window - restore from back up, re-install OS, disk utility. But none of the options are working. There is no back up disk, I am not able to connect to apple and re-install OS, selecting disk utility gives me blank window because there is no recovery drive. I am not able to do anything after I turn it on. Is there anything I can do at this point? I want to at least make it workable before giving to someone. I hate to just throw it away if there is a chance to salvage it....
MacBook Pro 13 2013 - Grey Screen Installation
Image
Hey dear community. Yesterday I wanted to erase everything on the disc and prepare so I can pass it on. I had Sequoia on it before with OLCP but read that properly erasing it would require reinstallagion including wiping the SSD. Saying that, updated the OCLP app and als wiped a flash drive with 64 GByte. It took me multiple attempts to flash the drive with the needed installer and then all needed steps as per webpage and also multiple YouTube videos. I have the drive plugged into the notebook. I booted the notebook with holding alt key deleted the EFI of the flash drive selected the install Mac OS sequoia from next step wiped the internal disk went back and chose install selected language continued and sometimes it goes back to the selection ig I want to install macOS or wipe disk etc 9 selecting install macOS leads me to a grey screen with only the mouse curser available Nothing else happens. I am just stuck there. I can shutdown and restart the procedure and n...

Absolutely mental experience fixing my OCLP and Sequoia

I was running Ventura on my Mac Mini Late 2012 and upgraded to Sequoia. Everything worked fine but no internet connection worked even though wifi was on. Transition from a 2017 OCLP MbP
Image
Hello, I recently acquired this MacBook Pro and I can't install Sequoia on it. I managed without any problems on my mid-2012 MacBook Pro with Monterey, but I think there was an extra step I can't remember (I had to select a Mac model). I don't have that option here. Does anyone have a step-by-step tutorial? Thanks (if anyone is in France, in the 84/30 North 13 area, I can travel). submitted by /u/Chat_D_Eaau [link] [comments] [► Source]
